Welcome Back to the Galaxy!
Ever find yourself missing those bosses from Galaxy? Well, they're back! Five of the Galaxy bosses that didn't appear elsewhere in the game appear here, one right after another. On the map, the icon is a crown, but none of the planets are crown-shaped. We land in on Dino Piranha's egg, while slow, eerie music plays. We spin the tail, which stretches out, and slams back into Dino Piranha's egg, breaking the shell. The rest of his body is revealed, and we go about chasing him around the planet, spinning his tail, sending it towards his head. After two hits, his head turns from purple to red. The same music in Galaxy plays - the same music for each boss from Galaxy will play. After the third hit, he explodes into a Launch Star. After beating him, the music heard earlier starts playing.
We launch to a lava bowl, where who should appear but King Kaliente, father (-in-law?) of Prince Pikante! His crown is the icon on the map. Kaliente spits out 3 flaming rocks, then a sole coconut. This coconut must be hit back at Kaliente. We approach the coconut and spin to return it to sender. It hits and briefly stuns him. When he launches another coconut, we spin it, but he hits it back. We must move and hit it again. The sound it makes when we volley the coconut is the same sound heard when sending fireballs into the mouth of Squizzard. When we send the coconut back a second time, it knocks off his crown. He briefly descends under the lava and makes blue flame spirits appear. These flames cause me to miss one of the volleys. I then get in a 3rd hit. A Launch Star appears, but we decide to explore the underside of the planet, where we find a Life Shroom and the Comet Medal.
We launch to a planet with a lone tree that's smaller than the one in Tall Trunk. We now have to deal with Major Burrows, a boss Rocky Wrench. I take a hit from touching him. When he comes out of the ground, we ground pound near him to make him walk out in confusion. We then chase him around and spin to knock him over, getting in one hit. I take several hits and lose the Life Shroom. I died from Major Burrows.
Take 2- I beat Dino Piranha, got a 100 Star Bit 1-up before beating Kaliente, beat Kaliente after taking a hit from a flame, and got the Life Shroom and the Comet Medal. I beat Major Burrows, who turns red after 2 hits. We then launch to the midgate before Bouldergeist's planet. Bouldergeist is a ghost covered in rocks. To defeat him, we need to hit him with Bomb Boos, black Boos with long tongues that explode on impact. We spin when near one, grab its tongue and swing it over our head until it will hit Bouldergeist and knocks some of the rocks off. He attacks us with gray, yellow, and black rocks. Yellow rocks give coins and black rocks give Bomb Boos. After we knock all of the rocks off, Bouldergeist's true form is revealed, something like a Bomb Boo. We then have to hit it with another Bomb Boo and the rocks cover it again and it grows hands. I take a hit from a Bomb Boo and two hits from his hands. I take a hit from a coin rock before I beat him with more Bomb Boos.
We launch to a planet with a Launch Star and launch onto Fiery Dino Piranha's egg. Fiery Dino Piranha is just like Dino Piranha, except he's covered in flames and periodically, his tail will be on fire. I touch the tail twice before getting in two hits. I take more hits and lose my Life Shroom. I run into the trail of fire from his tail that appears after 2 hits. I get in the third hit with 2 health bars left. He explodes into the Star. I don't like winning by the skin of my teeth-is that the gums? I don't like having only one or two bars of health when I had 6.
Star Get #103, 46 Comet Medals, 2425 Star Bits, 1667 Coins, 10 Lives
Interlude
A Comet appears in Stone Cyclone Galaxy.
We land back on the base of the faceship. Lubba says it looks like a green one followed us back, which we don't see often. There is a green Luma floating above a tree stump. Lubba bets he's got interesting tales to tell and we should go say hello. We talk to the green Luma, who says seeking the Cosmic Jewels is a lifelong pursuit. He also says, "They can be found when all of the stars have been collected." Well, now we know what we're doing after Super Luigi Galaxy 2. Let's get to it!
