Paper Mario: Sticker Star -- 4-3 The Enigmansion

The Enigmansion is a large mansion in the snow. I wouldn't be surprised if we found Boos and Luigi here. It looks like Luigi's Mansion covered in snow. There's a Toad sitting outside on the steps. He is the steward of the estate. He's impressed with us making it up here and would like to invite us in, but cannot. A book with terrifying things sealed within was opened and the terrifying things escaped. They scared him out of the mansion. We get the Book of Sealing, where the terrifying things were kept. We must seal the terrifying things within the book and return it to the basement so we can get some royal treatment. Kersti thinks that such a seal breaking so easily may be the result of a Royal Sticker and thinks that stomping out terror inside a haunted mansion sounds fun. She should spend some time with Luigi when we finally catch up with him. Kersti's way more enthusiastic about exploring the mansion than Mario.

We venture inside and hear what I hope is the wind howling. There are a Save Block and a Heart Block in the far right corner. There are three doors on the first floor and a portrait of the master on the second floor. We can paperize and remove the portrait. The left door on the first floor is locked. The middle door is unlocked and leads to the dining room. There is a cake on the table. We approach the table and lightning flashes. The mansion foyer goes dark. A faint Boo wanders into the kitchen. Suddenly, there are many Boos flying around the table. The music from the Haunted Mansion in Ghostly Galaxy plays. A Boo bumps into Mario and freaks him out. The Boos disappear. Kersti thinks the Boos look more fun than terrifying. She says that they may be shy as they can hide really well. We have to find all of them and seal them away. I think there may be more than 50 this time.

There's a Scaredy Rat scurrying in the kitchen. In the kitchen, we pick up the Oven. We open the refrigerator and find a Boo. This starts a battle. They have 18 HP. After you defeat them, they will turn into a sheet of paper and go into the Book of Sealing. We can now pick up the Refrigerator.

We leave the room and find a Boo behind the stairs. In the room on the right, the furniture is floating around. There's something missing from the wall and it's on the top of the bookshelf. We try jumping from the stacked books to reach it, but we can't. We can read a tale of the Book of Sealing. A once-famous ghost-hunters single-handedly defeated a horde of ghosts and sealed them in a book. If the book is recklessly opened, the ghosts could be unleashed. Another book says winning the Battle Spin is easy if you press (A) with rhythmic timing. Coins are most common on the spinner, so matching coins has the greatest odds. There's a book about the Sticker Fest, where Six Divine Sticker Beings grant the wishes of the attendants. We can't do anything in here for now, so we go through the door in the back.

This leads to a long hallway. There's something sparkling in the back. Pass one of the windows and it blows open, leaving the Stapler on the floor. The shiny thing is a Shiny Hopslipper. There's a hallway to the left with a Scaredy Rat. They can steal stickers from you. One of the bookshelves describes the master of the mansion as having operated the ski lift in White Valley. The right door leads to an upside-down bookcase. It speaks of an Infinijump sticker, which may be stuck to the bookcase. Peel off the bookcase and you'll find it doesn't belong there. Place the bookcase in the hallway and get the Flashy Infinijump sticker. The door on the left leads to a small hallway with two doors. Peel off the back wall. This place is scrambled! Go through the door and peel off that back wall. The wall with the door goes here and the wall with the sticker goes in the room to the right. We go towards the screen in the room with the door to go outside. The item block has a Shiny POW Block.

We go back inside and through the door to the greenhouse. Hit the shelf for the Watering Can. There's a Boo in the greenhouse. We go up the long hallway in front of the door near the bookcase with the Infinijump. It's a large, dark room, with something sparkling in the picture on the left wall. Hit the wall to release the Mansion Safe scrap. We go through the door on the right. This brings us back into the foyer. Back in the room with the floating furniture, hop on the table while standing on the furniture below the picture frame with the sticker. This allows you to reach the candle in the corner. Hit it to turn off the lights and reveal the three Boos holding the furniture. They drop the furniture after battle so we can reach the scrap. We go through the long hallway to the back and go all the way down the hallway this time.

Go behind the staircase to find a couple of Scaredy Rats playing with a Boo. We have to battle all three of them. The stairs have stickers on them. At the top is a door drawing. The Secret Door leads to the other side of Decalburg. We're in the Sling-a-Thing area of town, next to the shop where the Toad sells Things. In the foyer, at the top of the stairs, we place the Mansion Door scrap where the Master Portrait was. This leads to an area overlooking the kitchen. Go to the middle of the room, then jump down to land on the table. You might be burned by the candles. Grab the Cake.

There are three doors at the end of the hallway: blue, purple, and red. The red door's mat has a Shiny Mushroom under it. The red door leads to a room with three Boo portraits. Check the portraits and five Boos come out, along with a disco ball. They then fight you and the disco continues.  The purple door leads to a bedroom. There's something missing on the wall and something's wiggling in the trash can. We knock over the trash can and Mario cautiously approaches the wiggling scrap. It's a crumpled Boo with 1 HP. Easiest battle ever. This is where the Master Portrait goes. The blue door leads to a room with a cabinet full of papers. These rooms have the same layout as the houses in Decalburg. Hop on the cabinet and hit the invisible block for a 10-Coin. There's a Boo hiding in the clock face. Opening the cabinet makes many Boos come out like the Toads did. Jump to start the battle with the Boo Stack, with 82 HP. Each Boo in the stack has 1 HP. Flower stickers are not effective. The Hopslipper is very effective. After beating them, we find something glowing on the cabinet door. It's the Big Bookcase.

We place the Big Bookcase in the room with the floating furniture. It slides over to reveal a hidden room. Before we go through, we place the Mansion Safe in the room where we found the bookcase with the Infinijump. Open it to reveal a Gold Boo, with 18 HP. It gives us several coins after battle. The bookcase leads to a room with a mop and Bowser tape. Peeling it reveals stairs to the basement. It's foggy down here. To the right is a room with large barrels. There's a stand in the middle. Kersti thinks the Book of Sealing goes here. It won't stay on the stand because we haven't sealed all the Boos. We've been all over the mansion, so there's only one place to look.

The steward has built himself a fire, but he still feels chills. Put out the fire with your hammer and a Boo appears behind him. Back in the mansion, in the master bedroom, there is a Boo hiding in the Master Portrait. Approach the portrait to start the battle. We go back to the room with the floating furniture and check out the bookcase. What appears is what Kersti calls Ancient Stickerish. It says, "PAPERABLESTICKERROBBLE DERRSTICKER STICKARONISTICK PAPERDAPERDOOPER STICKITYSTICKITYSTICKITY PAPEROOSKI PAPERDOODLE STICKERPAPERRAWK". It looks more like what the enemies wearing the Royal Stickers were saying. Kersti translates, "When the Royal Stickers are found and the five lights illuminate the wall... Only then shall the truth be revealed." I hope the truth is why there are 3D objects all over the place. From the foyer, go into the left door, then through the back door. One of the windows is slightly bent. Hit it to make it fall out. The Boo we could see from the window is outside. That's the last of them. We place the Book of Sealing on the stand and it floats, flashes, then rests on the stand. The lights come on.

Someone says, "Well done." It's Kamek again, praising our diligence. Guess who broke the seal. He says the book holds a lot of power, so he decides to unleash it. The Boos come out and form a large paper Boo. It's Big Boo, with 100 HP. We get to use two stickers from the Battle Spin. He pick up Mario and chew him up. The lights will go on, so you can't hit him. Bring the Squirt Gun sticker to put out the lights, and hit him as well. That and a few Shiny Hopslippers should finish him off easily.

The steward is thrilled that the ordeal is over and wants to meet us in the room to the left of the foyer. Everything is back in order. The steward invites us to sit down and tells us to feel at home. Check out the picture that was behind the curtain. It was painted by the steward who came before him. He gives it to us, so we now have the Forbear's Portrait. Now there's a comet piece outside the window. The path to 4-4 opens up.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star -- 1-6 Goomba Fortress

Mario walks up to the fortress and Kersti notes it seems pretty grandiose for such little minions. She can feel a Royal Sticker's power coming from inside, so we'd better check it out. Kersti thinks this place may have gone crazy because Bowser went crazy under the influence of a Royal Sticker, but as far as we're concerned, that's normal for Bowser. We battle the Goombas on the bridge and go inside.

Inside, there's a yellow block in the center of the room. Hit it to make the paths rotate, so you can access different doors. Just to check things out, I go to the door on the right. We see a tall tower with a flag. We're noticed by a Goomba up there, where there are cannons and Bob-ombs. He wakes up the Bob-ombs with a 3D Trumpet. That may be another item we should grab. Bob-ombs fire from the cannons and drop down with parachutes. Some of the Bob-ombs drop Bomb stickers after battles. We go back and go through the door in the back.

This place has spikes, as well as a Heart Block and Save Block. The Bowser tape in front of the spikes is hiding a carpet that covers half of the spikes. We go back to the area with the Bob-ombs and go through the doorway. There's another yellow block in the center of the room. We go to the right wall and hit it with the hammer to find a hidden room with coins and a Shiny Jump.

Through the door in the back, things are quiet. We step on the bridge and it triggers a fan system to blow us away, along with Paragoombas in our path. We're blown off the bridge and walk around, finding some stickers. There's a door drawn on one of the walls. The Secret Door leads to the Squirt Gun. The bridge is impossible to cross, but we see spots for stickers when we paperize in front of the vents. Pick any two small stickers you don't want and place them in those spots. The stickers won't hold forever, so move quickly. The item block at the end has a Poison Mushroom.

Inside, there's an item block we can't quite reach. Go to the back and use your hammer on the air to the right. Blocks will appear so you can reach it for a Shiny POW Block. Through the door on the left are more Bob-ombs. We need them to run into fences and blow them up to clear a path. Try not to battle them so they'll blow up fences. We enter another part of the fortress and the yellow block doesn't work. It's rotate 90 degrees, so paperize, pick it up, and put it where it's supposed to be. The door to the front takes us to the area with the Save and Heart Blocks. Peel off the Bowser tape here to make the other part of the bridge. This leads to a dark green bridge guarded by a couple of Goombas.

Inside, it's quiet. Mario's jumps echo throughout. There's a spiral staircase guarded by Goombas. In the center are a couple of ledges. The lower one allows you to reach a Flashy Jump. The stairs lead to the top of the turret where the cannons are. The Trumpet has been abandoned, so we take it. The item block to the right has a heart in it that restores 30 HP. To the left are some stairs.

At the top, someone says, "Shee shee shee... Nee nee nee... Shinysheenyshoony... SHINE-YAAAAAAAA!" It's a Goomba wearing a shiny crown, looking possessed. That might be the Royal Sticker. The Goomba continues: "Shee hee hee! Well me, Mario. But here's where I turn you into confetti and scatter you to the winds! Take this! Shine-diddly-DOO!" Tough talk from a small Goomba. Kersti appears and confirms that the crown is, indeed, a Royal Sticker. The Goomba refuses to return it, as it pumps up the Goombas. Suddenly, Mario is surrounded by 15 Goombas. They all engage us in battle at once. Plug in your 3DS now; it's going to be a long battle. The crowned Goomba says, "OH, SUCH SHINABILITY! The shininess! Such power it gives! Such glittery-glottery glory!" The Battle Spin appears and I match 2 Lightning bolts. Our enemy is Megasparkle Goomba with 90 HP. This could take a while. After my first two attacks, the crowned Goomba says, "All right, boys! Time for the real deal!" The Goombas get in formation in the air, forming a 4x4 square, which becomes a giant Shiny Goomba sticker. It can form into a cone as well as roll into a tube. At times, it may flip over to reveal the individual Goombas, which can fly out at you. I'm not doing a lot of damage and am running out of stickers, so I unleash the Scissors! It does 20 HP of damage. Megasparkle Goomba says "Oopsie for yoopsie! When we're all sparkled up in a wall, that stuff doesn't even faze us!" After a few tries, I finally beat him. Bring lots of Mushrooms (at least 4) and lots of powerful stickers. All Thing Stickers have action commands in battle. Some are based on timing hitting the (A) button once and other require button mashing. I had to use my Shiny Big Hammer, but it finished him off. The crowned Goomba says, "Shee hee hooof... That stunk! C'mon boys, get your shine back on! Come, my sparkly shine-a-rooskies, and unite once more into a gigantic sticker of glitterosity!" One of the other Goombas says, "Nah, my, uh, fellow shine-rooster of whatever you just said... I think I'd like to go back to being a normal dude, if it's all the same to you." Another says, "Yeah, me too... The power of that sticker changes a Goomba, y'know? It changes your body and your MIND. I didn't sign up for that!" Sounds like they're as tired of the battle as I am. They leave. Crowned Goomba says, "UNshiny, UNdazzlish, UNCOOL! You whiny little spit wads! If that's the way it is, then FINE! I'll outshine you myself!" The battle continues and he has 1HP. After hitting me, so do I (I had 2 HP before the attack). And my 3DS resets itself. Just fantastic. I have to restart the battle, so I hit him with everything I have and finish with the Scissors. After his fellow Goombas desert him, I use a Bomb Sticker. Victory at last!

Kersti notices that we've used up a lot of stickers. She says there may have been a more effective sticker. I'm thinking the Fan, but I didn't have room in my album for large stickers. She says to try a little harder next time. (She says this regardless of how many stickers you use.) I have 11 HP left. The crowned Goomba says, "Shuuuh...Uuuuugh... All that wonderful, glittery power was like a dazzling dream... Now it's gone... Now I no longer... shi...ne..." He collapses and the crown is removed. Kersti says the Goomba got the crown's power because it was stuck on it. What we don't is if this was accidental or on purpose. If another Royal Sticker is stuck on another enemy, it'll be a glittastrophe. And with that, we put it on our album cover, on the top part of the pentagon. From the looks of things, they're all crown-shaped.

Next is a short transition which basically sums up the Goomba's encounter with the Royal Sticker. A new page is added to the album, a welcome addition.
