In the castle garden, the Toadsworths are once again trying to entertain Baby Peach. The Toadsworth Twist is not eliciting a response. A crosswind blows them into Baby Peach and she starts spinning in the air. Luigi wants to learn the move. Just run into the babies while Spin Jumping. It shall be called the Baby Spin. Use the Control Pad to move the babies. This will allow you to reach higher heights. The Toadsworths try rolling into a ball, but Baby Peach is still not amused. Toadsworth the Younger decides to roll over Baby Princess, despite the protests of Toadsworth the Elder. This flattens her into an amused disc. Mario wants to learn this move. Roll over the babies with the Bros. Ball. The babies will be able to reach tight spaces with low ceilings. They'll pop back to normal within a short time. This move shall be called Baby Cakes. The wind picks up and carries Baby Peach, still in disc form, into a hole on a ledge of the castle. The Toadsworths ask for assistance in getting her back, saying she's not in another castle. Baby Spin over the wall, hit the switch to lower the gate, then Baby Spin to the ledge. She's to the far right.
Once you leave the garden, there's a strong rumbling. A Toad freaks out, saying, "HE'S BACK!", and mentions Peach's room. Go upstairs to Peach's room, on the east side of the castle. Bowser's in Peach's room, at it again with another kidnapping attempt. A blob of the fungus on Peach's face buds off and hits Bowser on his face. He peels it off and eats it. He belches up purple gas in the room, which makes the bros woozy. Taking advantage of the situation, he carries Peach out onto the bridge. Toadsworth the Younger rolls in with Baby Peach's castle to stop him. Bowser dodges with a jump, but breaks the bridge when he lands, falling into a time hole below. Peach falls in as well. The time hole is on the first floor in the northwest corner. Baby Spin to the time hole.
The time hole takes you to Thwomp Volcano. The bros will appear after the babies arrive. The place is made of Thwomps. The Toads with red caps are mountaineers. They mention a scientist at the peak, and how to reach interesting things in the gaps in the walls. Baby Spin to reach the ! Block and open the path ahead. Cross the rope bridge and you'll meet new enemies called Thwacks. Their color matches who they'll attack. If it turns yellow, it attacks both bros. They can also summon more enemies. Go up the ramp and either roll over the spikes or Baby Spin to the platform above. In the next area, send the Baby Cakes into the gap and have them ride the air currents. This will keep them in disc form. Send them on the upper path to hit a ! Block to within reach. Have the bros go up the ramp and across the bridge to hit it. This opens the path ahead. Send the babies forward and reunite the bros in the area with the pipe.
Tanoombas make a reappearance here. This time, they won't be impersonating the bros. Both sets of bros should spin across the spikes. In the next area, send the Baby Cakes through the hole in the wall. The air vents lead to a ! Block that moves the yellow blocks out of the way. In the next area, you'll find Red Coconutters. If you want to reach the left side of the area, send the Baby Cakes over, under each low ledge you find to keep them in disc form. In the next area, send the Baby Cakes into the hole in the wall, then spin the gear to increase the air current. You can reach items on the clouds. The cloud on the right has a ! Block that opens the path ahead. In the following area, Baby Spin or roll across the gap to reach the other side. The next area has a pipe.
Past the pipe, send the Baby Cakes into the hole in the wall and spin the gear to increase the air current. Land on the moving cloud, jumping to the other clouds, leading to a ! Block, opening a blocked path. The next area is a little foggy, but leads to the peak. At the peak, Peach's crown is on the ground. Stuffwell thinks that she and Bowser may be in the volcano. Just then, the volcano erupts, spewing flaming Thwomps. Go east, then south, then southeast. This area has a building with a familiar shape, a couple of gears, and a pipe. The pipe leads to the area near the time hole, so you can build a bridge with the ! Block. Spin the other gear to open the door to the building.
The building's a lab and inside, there's a young scientist paying no attention to the fact that four people have just walked in, even less so the eruption. Baby Mario's threat of a hammer to the head gets his attention. He's Elvin Gadd, studying the Thwomps and history of the mountain. The bros inform him that the volcano has erupted. The flaming Thwomps rain down and start destroying the lab. A particularly large Thwomp drops in and it will explode if it is not extinguished. There's a gear in the northwest corner. Spin it to get the water running and extinguish the Thwomp. This will take several drops of water. While the babies try to put out the fire, Gadd gets inspired. Gadd in the present has his memories rearranged, getting an idea to create a large water pump. Back on Thwomp Volcano, Gadd's lab is ruined. He says there's a lab at the edge of Boo Woods, so he'll relocate to do some paranormal research. He leaves, and Gadd of the present calls via Stuffwell. He's created the Hydrogush 4000, which will stop all volcanic eruptions. He'll send the water through the time hole. It looks like a cross between F.L.U.D.D. and Gadd, but it stops the eruption. Stuffwell acknowledges the paradox of what just happened, but it gets the bros into the volcano. Heal and save, then return to the peak.
At the peak are two Thwomps. The round one is particularly enraged about the doused eruption. The rectangular one was looking forward to jumping into the fiery volcano, which is one of his hobbies. Since the bros can't bring the eruption back, they'll have to battle the round Mrs. Thwomp. After she takes about 100 HP worth of damage, she'll split into four. Each will attack the bros, raising an eyebrow to indicate the target. Counter with the hammer. Three are fakes. Use Bros. Items until she's defeated. Mr. Thwomp is upset that the bros were mean to his wife. Mario explains that they're trying to save Peach, so he agrees to help them inside the volcano. Mrs. Thwomp wants to go, but Mr. Thwomp says she's too heavy. She does not take the insult lightly and knocks him into the volcano.
Deeper inside the volcano, Bowser has found a spot for himself and Peach. He's thinking about building a second castle. Baby Bowser drops in with the exact same idea. Despite that, when they meet, they don't see eye to eye.
