Nintendo Direct Mini -- 7/18/13

It's time for another Nintendo Direct, but this one is a little shorter, so it's a Mini.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Hold down [L] and [R] in the game to take a screenshot that you can upload using Nintendo 3DS Image Share. This will allow you to post the picture to Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr. This feature also works with Art Academy, Style Savvy: Trendsetters, and Spirit Camera. You can share your house via Streetpass.

Nintendo Zones are available all over North America at locations such as Best Buy and Simon Malls. In a few weeks, you'll be able to use the Nintendo Zones as Streetpass Relays. You will get the data from the last person to ping off the Nintendo Zone, and the next person to ping off of that zone will get your data. This will exchange data for all Streetpass enabled features, including games and Streetpass Mii Plaza.

There are four new Streetpass Mii Plaza games available via a Streetpass Mii Plaza update. Mii Force will take you into space to blast through enemies. Streetpassing with other Miis will allow you to power up your shots. In Flower Town, you'll manage a garden and try to cross-pollenate your plants with those of other Miis to create new breeds. Warrior's Way is a game of medieval conquest where people you Streetpass with add the populations of their plazas to your army. You then battle other warlords to take over the world. In Monster Manor, you collect pieces from other players to open up rooms in a haunted manor, which will allow you to battle ghosts or find treasure chests. You want to find the stairs to the next floor, to reach the top of the mansion. Completing accomplishments will give you tickets that you can use to purchase new hats for your Mii. Each game costs $4.99, but can be bought as a bundle for a discounted price of $14.99.

There are five new puzzle panels available in Puzzle Swap. Released with the Streetpass update are Nintendo Starlets (Heroines), Xenoblade Chronicles, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and New Super Mario Bros. U/ New Super Luigi U. The update will give you one of the above panels, so you'll have to Streetpass with other players to get the other three. The other panel released is Mario and Luigi: Dream Team.

There's a new trailer for Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. We get to see more of Pi'illo Island and learn that Bowser is none too pleased when anyone else kidnaps the princess. Broque Monsieur and a couple of red and green bros are also on the island. In his dreams, Luigi is known as Dreamy Luigi. Interesting things can be found in Luigi's dreams, including Bowser's minions Private Goomp, Corporal Paraplonk, and Sergeant Guy. Luigi gets to battle larger-than-life enemies.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: There's a special promotion going on with this game. Purchase and register either physical or downloaded copies of this game and Fire Emblem: Awakening with Club Nintendo to get a $30 eShop credit. This offer expires August 31. There's also a limited edition of the game available only in stores.

Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party for the 3DS will launch in November.

Pikmin 3: There's a game called Bingo Battle which pits you against opponents to defeat enemies, gather items, and collect prizes. There are many different strategies to use, which must be tailored to your enemy. There are twelve different stages, each with three versions. Connect the Wii U to the internet to check your score against worldwide rankings. This weekend, July 20-21, at participating Game Stops/ EB Games, you'll be able to play a demo of the game. If you pre-purchase a digital copy of the game from any Game Stop/EB Games, you'll be able to download the game a day early, August 3. Available August 4

The Wonderful 101: There's a new trailer for the game. The Wonderful 101 merge together to form the Wonder Lineup to defeat aliens invading the earth. They can synthesize missing components of structures. This game will appear at San Diego Comic Con. Available September 15

There are features unique to the Wii U versions of the following third party games: Rayman Legends, Just Dance 2014, Watch Dogs, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag, Batman: Arkham Origins, Skylanders: Swap Force, Disney Infinity, Scribblenauts: Unmasked, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution: Director's Cut. All of these games will be available this year.

Cloudberry Kingdom: This platformer has a fully random level generator, so that each time you play a level, it will be brand new. August 1

DuckTales: Remastered is coming to the Wii U with hand-drawn animated sprites and original Disney voices. August 13

Spin the Bottle: Bumpie's Party is a party game where two eight players sit around the Game Pad to play minigames. No kissing required. Available August

Earthbound is now available from the Wii U eShop for $9.99. Battle against strange enemies as you leave home to save the world. The extensive player's guide will be available to view online and on the Wii U, but without the scratch-and-sniff stickers.
