Battlerock Galaxy - Breaking into the Battlerock

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
The setup is the same as in Battlerock's Garbage Dump up to the red, green, and yellow planet. Here, we use a Bob-omb to break the cage with the Luma in it. It transforms into a Sling Star and we sling to a Launch Star, landing saucer. The Space Fantasy music plays. There is a 1-up on the other side of the saucer. We then have to navigate a Pull Star path through space bombs. Fortunately, there's a Life Shroom. I took three hits from the bombs, then reached the Launch Star. We launch into a tunnel, where the Battlerock music starts up. We take a green pipe inside the Battlerock. There is a cage over a cannon. We break it with a Bob-omb. In the cannon, we aim for a moving crystal with a Luma. We land a direct hit, which completely breaks the crystal. Otherwise, there's a cannon on the other side that needs to be opened. The Luma transforms into a Launch Star, and we fly out, facing the camera, with explosions from the Battlerock in the background. We land on a nearly cylindrical planet with blue and orange tile. The Space Fantasy music plays again. There is a Bob-omb dispenser at one end and a caged cannon at the other. In the cannon, we aim for the Star, which is guarded by large moving fences. Hitting one will just send you back to the cannon, so keep trying. After a few tries, we fired into the Star.
Star Get #23, 14 Coins, 1287 Star Bits, 15 Lives

Luigi
We free the Launch Star and the Luma with Bob-ombs. We sling to the Launch Star and find a 1-up in a crate. We use the Pull Stars to navigate around the space bombs. We get the Life Shroom and reach the Launch Star. We use the switch to get Star Bits and go through the pipe. Here we have to free the Luma in crystal. We break the cage over the cannon with a Bob-omb and land a direct hit on the crystal, completely breaking it. We launch out of the Battlerock and land on the cylindrical planet. We open its cage and get the Star with our first shot.
Star Get #23, 12 Coins, 994 Star Bits, 24 Lives

Battlerock Galaxy - Battlerock's Garbage Dump

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land on a saucer with a Bob-omb dispenser. There are several cages, one of which contains a Launch Star. We pick up a Bob-omb and quickly take it to the cage, shaking to throw it. It will count down to detonation once we pick it up, and will explode in our hands if we don't get rid of it in time. We land on a red, green, and yellow planet. The are Chomps, a Bob-omb dispenser, and a hungry Luma. We use a Bob-omb to break a cage with a Rainbow Star. We destroy the Chomps and get the Star Bits for the hungry Luma, who wants 30. It transforms into a bowl-shaped planet and we launch there.

On the planet are several piles of metal, four Bob-omb dispensers, and a green Gearmo, with a magnet on a stick that resembles a broom. He says, "This is the AMMO DEPOT, not a GARBAGE DUMP! What, do people think they can just toss their trash here and it'll magically disappear? Heyyyy... We have plenty of bombs. Maybe you could use them to blow up all this trash? Yes/No" If you say "Yes", he'll reply, "Gee, thanks!"

We have 30 seconds to blow up all of the trash. We pick up Bob-ombs and try to throw them near the lights on the floor. The Bob-ombs take some time to explode, so strategially grouping them can start beneficial chain reactions that get the job done faster. I did this in my first try with less than 1 second to spare. Even if you fail, you won't die, so you can try repeatedly without penalty. When victorious, the Gearmo says, "Who knew that bombs work so well as an industrial-strength cleaner? Thanks, I owe you big. Oh, I know! Take this! I just found it lying around. Maybe it will help!" He spins around with the Star on his magnet. "Thanks! You really helped me out there."
Star Get #22, 2 Coins, 1271 Star Bits, 12 Lives

Luigi
We use the bombs to collect Star Bits and launch. On the planet with the Chomps, we free the Rainbow Star and run into the Chomps for more Star Bits. We feed the hungry Luma 30 Star Bits and he transforms into the trashed ammo depot. We accept the Gearmo's request and blow up all the trash on our first try with 2 seconds left. The Gearmo gives us the Star.
Star Get #22, 2 Coins, 913 Star Bits, 22 Lives

Battlerock Galaxy - Battlerock Barage

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
This galaxy has slow, deep music that gives it an element of exciting and foreboding. We get Pull Star Chips on the metal saucers. Some of them move under the saucers. We use the Pull Stars to reach the Launch Star. We land and use a purple laser to spring to an above saucer. There is a blue screw on its top side, which activates the saucer and sounds the alarm. The saucer moves towards the large planet in the background- the Battlerock. As we approach the planet, cannons start firing. The saucer passes by the cannons and goes under electric fences. We can either backflip over the fences or go under the saucer. The saucer has it's own gravity, so it is difficult to be knocked off. Eventually, we reach the end of the line, near another two saucers. Under the closer one is a Star in a cage. There are Bill Blasters near the farther saucer. We lead a Bullet Bill to the cage to smash it.
Star Get #21, 18 Coins, 1233 Star Bits, 11 Lives

Luigi
We see the Star on top of the saucer in the cutscene. We collect the Pull Star Chips, and launch. We spring from the submerged laser and spin the blue screw to activate the saucer. We take the saucer to the end of its path, dodging electric fences and cannonballs. We lead a Bullet Bill into the cage to free the Star.
Star Get #21, 19 Coins, 880 Star Bits, 21 Lives

Rolling Green Galaxy - Rolling in the Clouds

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
It's time for a Star Ball rolling mission! A remix of Super Mario 3 music plays. We go up to the Star Ball, but a nearby sign says, "'Hey!' Hey, now! If you're thinking about just rolling that ball away, you'd better listen to old Bill Board here. First, jump to get on top of the ball." We hop on. "All right, you're on! Now hold the Wiimote straight up. Right, that's it! That's what we call the basic position. From that basic position, tilt the Wiimote to move the ball in that direction. Then just press (A) to jump! If anything gets in your way, smoosh it! Anyway, you'll learn more by doing it yourself. Good luck."

And we're off! While on the Star Ball, we are nearly invincible. We can't take damage, but we can be knocked off the level. Our spin doesn't work while on the Star Ball. An interesting feature is that the Star Ball music adjusts in tempo to your speed. If you want to get Star Bits, get a Co-Star, as pointing the Wiimote at the screen will cause you to hurtle forward. We roll and hop into a basin, which is launches the Star Ball. We fall through a hole and smoosh a Goomba. The next area is grassy, but with several holes. We take the widest path to the next launcher. We squish more Goombas and roll into a basin near a flagpole and windmill. It's kind of like miniature golf. The Star Ball breaks, releasing the Star, which flies to the top of the flagpole. We climb up the pole, do a handstand, and jump to get it.
Star Get #20, Galaxy Complete!, 16 Coins, 1145 Star Bits, 10 Lives

Luigi
We hop on the Star Ball and get the instructions. We launch from the basin and take the rails to a grassy area and take the widest path. We jump into a basin to launch to the end basin. The Star flies to the top of the flagpole.
Star Get #20, Galaxy Complete!, 21 Coins, 786 Star Bits, 20 Lives

Hurry-Scurry Galaxy - Shrinking Satellite

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land in a small galaxy, where a remix of the underground theme plays. There is a path of disappearing green tiles. We follow the path, getting a 1-up and long-jumping to the next safe platform. We get some coins from the item block and fall through the tile frame to the next planet. It is a large rhombicuboctahedron-like planet nearly covered in the disappearing tiles. There are musical notes on some of the tiles that play a musical scale. There is a black hole in the center. Once we get all of the musical notes, the black hole will turn into the Star. Just drop through any tile to get the Star.
Star Get #19, Galaxy Complete!, 10 Coins, 1139 Star Bits, 10 Lives

Luigi
I jump to the 1-up and the safe area. I get the coins and fall to the Launch Star. I got all of the musical notes, even those over tiles that have disappeared. The black hole turns into the Star and gravity pulls us to the Star.
Star Get #19, Galaxy Complete!, 10 Coins, 771 Star Bits, 20 Lives

Super Mario Galaxy Complete!

I just completed the Mario part of Super Mario Galaxy. As you can see, there is a substantial blogging backlog, over 100 Stars. Hopefully, I'll be done blogging around the time Super Mario 3D Land comes out. That will be the next game I play. I did much better on some missions than when I first played the game. Next is Super Luigi Galaxy! I will be blogging about Super Luigi Galaxy as well. I can put the Luigi gameplay in the Mario posts or have them be separate posts. Let me know in the comments which setup you'd prefer. This is a fun game and I'm looking forward to Part 2! (Mario and Luigi posts will be in the same post.)

Good Egg Galaxy - Dino Piranha Speed Run

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
It's another Speed Run! We have 4 minutes to reach Dino Piranha and defeat it. We go to the other side of the planet to reach the Launch Star quickly. As we continued through, I reached the Piranha Plants that make vines with 3 minutes left. We decided to take the normal path that takes us past an endless supply of rolling Chomps. I made it to Dino Piranha with 2 minutes. I got in all the hits with 1:46 to spare and got the Star at 1:43. This took me three attempts to reach Dino Piranha, as enemies knocked me off.
Star Get #18, 3 Coins, 1127 Star Bits, 20 Lives

Luigi
Once again, we have 4 minutes to reach and defeat Dino Piranha, and collect the Star. We go to the other side of the first planet, sling to the Launch Star, get past the Chomp planet. I reached the vine at the 3 minute mark. The boulders on the grassy green planet are now Chomps. I got a 1-up on the planet before Dino Piranha. I take out the Spike Piranha and reach Dino Piranha with 2 minutes left. He died at 1:46 and got the Star at 1:44.
Star Get #18, 1 Coin, 754 Star Bits, 19 Lives

Sweet Sweet Galaxy - Rocky Road

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
This is our first hungry Luma galaxy. We need to feed it 400 Star Bits to make it transform.
This planet is full of cakes and pastries. A remix of the Super Mario 3 music plays. There is a path moving towards us. Parts of the path are circles, other parts are squares with holes. We move carefully to a large cake. We see candies, licorice, and forks in space. The floor is rotating under our feet and is full of holes of various shapes. We have to keep moving to avoid being caught between a wall and a hole. We also have to dodge electric fences. We go around the corner to a safe spot where the floor doesn't move. Past it is another rotating floor, with an arrow-shaped hole. We make our way past the floor and see the Star atop a three-layer cake. There are more platforms moving towards us, between electric fences. I fell off here.
Take 2- We land back at the safe area in the cake. Blue Toad tells us the rest of the brigade is up ahead. We make it to the three layer cake, which has three flavors, strawberry lemon on the bottom, mint chocolate in the middle, which Green Toad likes, and the top layer has gumdrops, which we can spin for Star Bits. The Star is at the top.
Star Get #17, Galaxy Complete, 1091 Star Bits, 22 Lives

Luigi
We feed the hungry Luma by the Terrace 400 Star Bits to access this galaxy. We fell off the edge while looking around.
Take 2- I made it to the cake at the end with the rest of the Toad Brigade, taking a couple of shocks from the electric fences. I got a 1-up and the Star.
Star Get #17, Galaxy Complete!, 5 Coins, 700 Star Bits, 18 Lives

Honeyhive Galaxy - Honeyhive Cosmic Mario/ Luigi Race

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
It's time for our first Cosmic Mario race! These missions make us race Cosmic Mario, a starry dopelganger of Mario, to the Star. When we land, the screen has a blue tinge and a remix of both the underground theme and the original theme plays. If we move, Cosmic Mario appears and challenges us. We then line up and the race starts. The Star is at the end of the path of honey. Cosmic Mario is pretty easy to beat, because he doesn't use any speed tricks. As I have played the game before, I know how to go faster- long jump. I long jump up the stretch by the fountain and move quickly into the tunnel, while Cosmic Mario is taking the low road. Touching Cosmic Mario produces Star Bits. We go down the slide and stay on the grassy patches to maintain speed. We jump to get the Star, which is floating over a pool of honey. Jump quickly to beat Cosmic Mario. Failure results in death.
Star Get #16, 1400 Star Bits, 20 Lives

Luigi
Now, for the first Cosmic Luigi race! You make think that Cosmic Mario was a pushover, but Cosmic Luigi is no joke. He runs the race more intelligently, but makes a few mistakes so you can attempt to catch up with him. You'll notice that he uses long-jumps a lot, and so should you. The Star will be in the same location. It took me 10 attempts to win this race, mostly because I kept stalling, especially when trying to execute long-jumps, as the controls are very similar to the backflip controls. What you should do is what he does for the most part: long-jump into the cave and ground pound down the hole in the stump. Wall-jump and spin up the ledge (perhaps using a backflip) and avoid the honey. Fortunately, he slows down towards the end by being stuck in the honey. Use this to your advantage.
Star Get #16, 1020 Star Bits, 17 Lives

Space Junk Galaxy - Pull Star Path Speed Run

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
It's time for our first Prankster Comet Star. This time, it's a Speed Run. Unlike in Super Mario Galaxy 2, the timer keeps ticking down, even after the Star appears, so get it quickly. There's a red tinge in the screen corners. We get 4 minutes to complete the Pull Star Path mission. We go through the Pull Star Path and get the Launch Star Chips. I had 3 minutes left at the spaceship. I ignored the spiders and quickly freed only the Toad Brigade. The Starshroom will descend. Quickly use the Sling Star at the top. I had two minutes to get all 5 Silver Stars. I got them all by 1:15 and got the Star at 1:08. If you die, you have to start the mission all over.
Star Get #15, 23 Coins, 1385 Star Bits, 20 Lives
The enemy base in this dome has been spotted.

Luigi
Once again, we have 4 minutes to go through the Pull Star Path and collect the Silver Stars. At the 3 minute mark, I reached the Pull Star planets. I got all the Silver Stars around the 2 minute mark and got the Star with 58 seconds left.
Star Get #15, 18 Coins, 957 Star Bits, 44 Lives

Space Junk Galaxy - Tarantox's Tangled Web

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
Red Toad tells us again about the brigade member that hasn't come back yet. We go through the Pull Star path to the glass planet. There's a hole in it, so we can go inside. The Launch Star is here, but there's a bit of a maze to reach it. We make two rights, then to lefts, and launch through the glass to a rock planet. After dealing with the spiders, we find Pink Toad trapped in a Sling Pod. He says, "'Oh, no!' Help! I'm stuck! Aim your cursor at me, and press (A) to pull me out. We use the Sling Pod to sling him to the next planet. We do the same to another Sling Pod and sling to a spaceship. There we find a Life Shroom in crystal. We sling to another rock, then to a spiky planet covered in webbing. Our landing cracks it open to reveal a web with a ball of webbing in the center. The surrounding area is a 2D antfarm.

Green Toad is stuck in the web. He says, "Eek! I'll be eaten! Someone help me!" We pull on the webbing with the cursor and release to sling him to the other side. He says, "EEEK, Mario! What IS this thing?" We get in the webbing by jumping and sling into the web in the center. It cracks open revealing a giant spider, Tarantox. The Dino Piranha music plays. It rotates while shooting green goo out its mouth. It's covered in bulges, but the first one you need to worry about is the large one on its back. Hop in the webbing and sling into it. This will flip him over, rendering him temporarily immobile. Use the webbing to sling into the three bulges on its other side. Taking out them all counts as one hit. The bulges regenerate and he startings shooting goo out of the bulges on its sides. Take him out the same way, but you'll have to be patient and walk around with it, dodging the goo. The rocks contain coins, so either pound them or sling into them. After all bulges are taken care of, Tarantox explodes through the web, ripping it to shreds. The Star appears in the center of the remaining web. Sling to reach it.
Star Get #14, 21 Coins, 1353 Star Bits, 21 Lives
A hungry Luma appears.

Luigi
We make our way quickly to the crystal planet and launch. We reach the Sling Pods, and sling Pink Toad, and then, ourselves. We get a Life Shroom and sling a few times to the web planet. We battle Tarantox, but died.
Take 2- We get a Life Shroom and battle Tarantox. We flip him over and knock out the bulges twice, making him explode.
Star Get #14, 10 Coins, 942 Star Bits, 44 Lives

A hungry Luma appears.

Space Junk Galaxy - Yoshi's Unexpected Appearance

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land on a yellow Starshroom. Red Toad directs us to a planet, but we won't be going there just yet. We hop on the red Starshroom and use a Pull Star to the crystal planet. Beyond that is a Pull Star path to a glass sphere planet. On it is a hungry Luma. He wants 50 Star Bits, so we go inside to get the remaining 8 we need. He transforms into a planet shaped like Yoshi's head. Some calm music called Space Fantasy. There are several Goombas here. We have to stomp all of them for the Star. We can combo stomp them. If we get a combo of at least 8, we'll get a 1-up. There are no coins here, so you can die from the Goombas or the steam vents in Yoshi's nose. I died twice, but did get a max combo of 8. The Star appears once all Goombas are defeated.
Star Get #12, 1278 Star Bits, 20 Lives

Interlude
We land on the main deck of the Observatory. Rosalina says, "'Oh...' It seems that a Prankster Comet has appeared somewhere... Prankster Comets have very stange effects on galaxies. If you want to learn more about theses curious comets, ask the Luma who knows about such things." A purple Luma appears waving two star wands. He says, "Hey! HO! If you need to know anything about Prankster Comets, I'm your Luma! How can I help? Tell me more!/ Move it!" We ask him to tell us more. He continues, "That Prankster Comet is always stirring up trouble, making galaxies go all crazy... Speedy Comets limit the amount of time you can spend there. Daredevil Comets leave with low life. Cosmic Comets make you race a mirror of yourself. Fast Foe Comets make our enemies move faster. Now the fun part is trying each one out!"
I beg to differ on that last statement. If you chose "Move it", he'll move the comets around for 20 Star Bits, if what's available does not suit you. These comets will be a thorn in your side throughout the game.

Luigi
We gather the 50 Star Bits the hungry Luma wants. After taking a hit from a spider, we feed the Luma to make the Yoshi planet appear. We get in a max combo of 6 and get the Star.
Star Get #13, 4 Coins, 899 Star Bits, 43 Lives

The Prankster Comet has appeared.

Space Junk Galaxy - Kamella's Airhip Attack

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land on a yellow Starshroom, as a remix of the Airship theme plays. There's a red Starshroom nearby with Red Toad, the captain. He says, "'Oh, no!' Mario! My brigade boarded the enemy fleet and none have returned! As captain, I would go save them myself, but I'm much to busy at the moment... and scared. Look, it's the enemy fleet... Yikes..." Once again, a Toad is too cowardly to take the action needed, so it's up to us!
We launch to an Airship and spin the lever to lower the bridge to the next area. We see two Star Bunnies hopping around, telling us to jump and spin to get things and reach places normally out of reach. We break a crate for a Sling Star and sling to the next Airship. Blue Toad and Green Toad are trapped in crystal. After freeing them, they tell us to shake the Wiimote to throw shells, which is how we can open treasure chests. There are some chests on this ship we can try that out on. At the stern of the ship is a Launch Star, which takes us to the top of the next Airship. We can use a Pull Star to go down a smoke stack and find lots of Star Bits.

Yellow Toad and Pink Toad are also trapped in crystal. Yellow Toad tells us to spin near a shell to pick it up. Pink Toad says that the Octopuses are blocking his way and that some shells would take care of them. There is a Koopa crawling on deck. We use his shell to open the left crate, which has a Red Shell- which homes in on enemies, just like in Mario Kart, and the right chest, which has a Life Shroom. The Koopa will reappear so you can throw as many shells as you like. We take out the octopuses and a bridge drops to an Airship with purple railing. We walk across the bridge and sling to the deck.
After hopping over the rail, the music changes and Kamella appears. Kamella is a large female Magikoopa with a purple robe with red trimmings, green lipstick, and fangs in her lower jaw. She wields a large wand, which contains the Star. A barrier prevents us from jumping off the ship. She waves her wand, producing fireballs, if the magic around the wand is red, or a shell, if the magic is green. Dodge the fireballs and pick up the shell and throw it at her for a hit. The shell is able to cross the barrier. She will disappear after each time she uses her wand or takes a hit, so wait until she reappears again. After the first hit, she appears over the ship, instead of past the railing. After the second hit, she summons two Magikoopas. It is a good idea to take them out, but not necessary. After the third hit, she screams and poofs. Her wand spins and cracks in midair, releasing the Star. If you take damage, there are coins at the bow of the ship.
Star Get #12, 31 Coins, 1266 Star Bits, 21 Lives

Luigi
We launch from the Starshroom and spin the lever to drop the bridge. We get a 1-up and sling to the next Airship. We find Blue Toad, who's lost his glasses. We deal with Magikoopas and open a treasure chest for the Launch Star. We overshot a Pull Star and fell into a black hole.
Take 2- We enter the chimney on one of the Airships for lots of Star Bits. We free the Brigade and get the Life Shroom. We take out the Octopi to lower the bridge. We reach Kamella's ship and Kamella appears by magic. We get in all three hits for the Star.
Star Get #12, 2 Coins, 892 Star Bits, 42 Lives

Space Junk Galaxy - Pull Star Path

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
This galaxy is a collection of junk scattered in space. Slow, eerie piano music plays. The background is a spiral galaxy. We use the Pull Star to reach a crystal planet. We use more Pull Stars to reach clear spheres with Amps and Launch Star Chips. One is on the sphere you land on, two are on the left sphere, and two are on the right. The Launch Star appears between the left and right spheres.

We land on a spaceship. There are nearby Pull Star Planets- planets containing Pull Stars we can use- that lead us to a long path of Pull Stars. At the end of the path is a planet with arrows and spiders. We go to the other side and see some of the Toad Brigade in crystals. We free them all, avoiding the crystal with the Goomba. Pink Toad wonders where the Captain went and Blue Toad's lost his glasses. After we free them all, the Starshroom descends with Red Toad, while the Toad Brigade music plays. Red Toad says "Da-da-da-DAAAAAA! Mr. Maaario! As the Captain of the Toad Brigade, I've already discovered a shortcut to the Power Star. Take the Sling Star at the top of the Starshroom!"

We sling to a flat square planet, where the underground remix heard in Flipswitch Galaxy plays. There are several pieces floating in space, and when we approach the edge of the square, they fly into place, forming a path. There are 5 Silver Stars we must collect here. There are three on the left side and two on the right. Don't rush through this area, as the path is not continuous and you will have to jump across gaps. The Star appears on the platform we landed on.
Star Get #11, 19 Coins, 1142 Star Bits, 18 Lives

Luigi
We use the Pull Stars to reach the crystal planet, the spaceship, and the planet where we meet up with the Toad Brigade. We sling to the next planet and grab the Silver Stars in the same places. We return to where we landed on the planet for the Star.
Star Get #11, 18 Coins, 757 Star Bits, 42 Lives

Bowser Jr.'s Robot Reactor - Megaleg's Moon

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
It's time for our first major battle! When we open boss bases, we will see Bowser's head as a galaxy icon and hear dark music. When we enter the galaxy, we fly past Megaleg to a hollow sphere. There is a Launch Star in a cage we can't open ourselves and there is no key. There is a Bill Blaster launching Bullet Bills that will home in on us. We want them to. We have to lead one successfully to the cage with the Launch Star. You can also lead them to other cages that may have 1-ups, coins, or Star Bits. When the Bullet Bill is about to break the cage, either stand on the cage or behind it to avoid damage. We free the Launch Star and launch to Megaleg's planet.

An alarm sounds when we land. Bowser Jr. appears on an Airship. The opening music to his theme plays. He says, "'Hee hee hee hee!' Wahahaha! You made it! But I won't even need my dad's help to take care of you! Go at 'em, Megaleg! Stomp 'em with the power of your Grand Star! 'Hahahahuhuhuh'" He then flies away. Well, now we know that these missions have Grand Stars in them.

Megaleg then activates. The Megaleg music plays. The top of the robot fires Bullet Bills. Megaleg will periodically raise and lower its legs. We can climb up the legs and the arrows on them will turn red and an alarm will sound. We have to negotiate the turning gears on his legs and dodge the Bullet Bills. We reach the top of the robot. There is a cage on the top with the Grand Star. We lead a Bullet Bill to the cage and it is damaged. An alarm sounds, a search light appears on the cage, and fences rotating around the cage. The music speeds up and a second set of Bullet Bills appear. We use three Bullet Bills to break three sections of the fence. We lead one Bullet Bill over the fence into the cage, breaking it. The Grand Star is released and Megaleg rumbles and breaks apart and explodes. We land back on the planet it was standing on and get the Grand Star.
GRAND STAR GET #2!
Star Get #10, Galaxy Complete!, 1053 Star Bits, 17 Lives

Interlude

The Grand Star flies into the Beacon, making it bigger and yellow. Another star tile lights up and rotates. The Fountain Dome opens. Rosalina says, "'Look!' That ball of flame represents the power of the observatory. We call it the beacon. When you recover a Grand Star, a little Star Power will be restored, and the beacon will grow. The Comet Observatory can use that power to fly through the universe. 'Hm!' Once all of the power is restored, we will even be able to fly to the center of the universe..." Polari says, "'Oh!' Oh! The power is on in a new dome! The newly opened dome is called the Fountain. It's really quite relaxing. By the way, have you looked at the map? It contains information about galaxies as well as domes. If you forget the location of a dome, don't hesitate to speak with me.

In the Garage, the Luma's creation is finished. It looks like a red mushroom. Green Toad fills us in, "'Hey!' The Lumas built a mushroom starship that looks just like us! 'Hey!' The Starshroom is fully operational!"

This means that the Toad Brigade will accompany us on missions. They will help us find some Power Stars. From what Rosalina told us, Peach is being held in the center of the universe. We'll need a few more Grand Stars before the hulking behemoth that is the Observatory lurches to life and starts moving again.

Luigi
We take a hit from a Bullet Bill and take the direct route from the Bill Blaster to the cage. We launch to Megaleg's planet. After talking to Bowser Jr., Megaleg comes to life. We climb up Megaleg and lure a Bullet Bill to the cage with the Grand Star. We break the cage with the next one we lure and destroy Megaleg with one bar of health left.
GRAND STAR GET #2!
Star Get #10, Galaxy Complete!, 684 Star Bits, 41 Lives

We find out that the Starshroom has been completed and that we can now access a new dome.

Loopdeeloop Galaxy - Surfing 101

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land on a planet in a bright galaxy. There is a fast-flowing river floating in space. Beach Bowl music plays. There are penguins here. They say that this is penguin paradise and that they surf on manta rays. We go up to the big penguin with the whistle, who's the coach. In the water is a purple manta ray.

The coach says, "That cute little guy over there is Ray! Are you a surfer too? Yes/ No way" If you answer "No way", he says, "I see... Well, if you chage your mind, let me know." If you answer "Yes", he says, "Oh, but this is your first time ray surfing, right? Well then, let me show you the ropes." We are now standing on the back of Ray. "Now let me explain. Point your Wiimote a the screen." Checks appear to let you know you're following instructions. "Yeah, yeah... That's the basic position. To turn left, twist the Wiimote left from that starting position. Correct! That's how you turn left! To turn right, twist the Wiimote to the right. Yup! That's how you turn left! Then, all you need to do is hold down (A) to speed up. That's all you need to know. Now give it a go on the course!"

The first part of the course allows to get coins while getting a feel for ray surfing. We go into the tunnel to start the race. Penguins cheer us on from the sidelines. The best time is 1:30:00. I'm not trying to beat any speed records, just trying to stay alive. The course is basically a figure-8. Ray surfing music plays. We take it slow, winding around the course until we reach the "sun" that is the finish line. We get a 1-up on the way. When we finish, we go up to the ranking platform where the coach is. He says, "01:29:41? Congratulations! You deserve a Gold Medal!" He pulls out a Star, which flies over to the 1st Place ranking.
Star Get #9, Galaxy Complete!, 44 Coins, 17 Lives

There are Star Bits on the course, but getting them may require moving out of your basic position, which may cause you to fall off. Get a Co-Star to get them.

Luigi
We land in the galaxy and get ray surfing instructions. I get all of the coins in the trial area. We start the race and get a 1-up. I fell off the track onto a lower portion, which was lucky. I reached the goal and fell off in the cutscene, but still lived. My time was 01:54:05 and we get the Star.
Star Get #19, Galaxy Complete!, 46 Coins, 656 Star Bits

Flipswitch Galaxy - Panting the Planet Yellow

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land on a planet made entirely of flipswitches. A remix of the underground theme plays. All we have to do is step on all the flipswitches, turning them yellow. If we step on them again, they will turn blue again. Step on them once more to turn them yellow. Hindering our progress are moving electric fences, moving platforms edged with spikes, and a purple laser that shoots laser rings. The background is from the original Super Mario Bros, from an above-ground level like 1-1. The moving platforms will take you to other flipswitches, but will move over them, so make sure to clear them carefully. After we clear them all, the flipswitches turn green, everything stops, and the galaxy becomes dark. The background has changed to an underground level. The Star appears over the submerged purple laser. We step on it to make it spring us into the Star.
Star Get #8, Galaxy Complete!, 2 Coins, 16 Lives

Interlude
After we complete that galaxy, we will notice a gold crown next to its name and on its location on the map. We found a new galaxy. Polari says, "We have discovered an enemy base in the region! We can only hope they are not misusing the power of the poor Grand Star..." Polari will say this each time an enemy base is accessible. And yes, they are misusing the power of the Grand Star. But we'll deal with that a little later.

Luigi
I died once from the laser and electric fences. We clear all of the Flipswitches on the second attempt while only taking a hit from the laser. The background changes and we spring to get the Star.
Star Get #8, Galaxy Complete!, 1 Coin, 40 Lives

Honeyhive Galaxy - Big Bad Bugaboom

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
When we land, the music is faster paced, and has a new melody in it. The bees are panicking. One informs us, "Augh! The whole Mandibug cland has infested our kingdom!" Mandibugs are all over the planet. Up the slope is an arrow pointing to a water blaster, which bears a resemblance to F.L.U.D.D. It will periodically shoot out water bubbles which can pick us up and transport us to other places. We blast to the other side of the planet and get a Life Shroom. We go through the tunnel, where we find the Queen Bee, who says, "The neighbors are causing trouble again! We would be most grateful for your assistance!" A Launch Star appears over the tree stump and we launch.

We land on a small planet with a Bee Shroom and a bloom. We get the Bee Suit and then use the bloom and fly to a similar planet. We use that bloom to reach a large planet with a large tree. We land and a huge Mandibug appears, Bugaboom. Battle music plays. There are pools of water and blooms on the island, as well as honeycomb the tree. All we have to do is pound Bugaboom three times. We backflipped on to his back and pounded him. His wings unfold and he starts flying, dropping bombs on the way. When he turns, he tilts to the side, so we can't stand on him. We time using the bloom and land on his back and pound again. He turns red and spins. Now, he will tilt to one side even if he's not turning, so landing the last pound is difficult. On my 8th attempt to pound him, it finally connects and he explodes into the Star, which appears over a rock in the water. We fly into the Star.
Star Get #7, 8 Coins, 1025 Star Bits, 7 Lives

Interlude
We have discovered a new galaxy. We get another message: "A hungry Luma has appeared!" It will be outside the Terrace Dome.

Luigi
We use the water blaster and get the Life Shroom. We take damage from a couple of Mandibugs before getting briefed on the situation by the Queen Bee. We launch, get the Bee Suit and fly to the battle planet. I get all three hits in under a minute, perhaps under 30 seconds. This was much easier, possibly due to better timing. We get the Star.
Star Get #7, 5 Coins, 642 Star Bits, 41 Lives
A hungry Luma appears and we have discovered a new galaxy.

Honeyhive Galaxy - Trouble on the Tower

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
I got the 1-up on the ledge and talk to the Bee near the start. A rock with the ground pound symbol on it. He says, "That rock just fell from the sky! It was... scary." We go up the slope partway, and find another rock with a ground pound symbol. We pound it and a vine appears. The nearby bee says, "The Sproutle is back! Yay!" We use the vine to go to the left side of the planet, up the hill from the start. We find a Rainbow Star in the green pipe by the tree. The path to the castle is blocked by a honeycomb grate. We sling up to a red switch guarded by Wiggler. Pounding the switch flips Wiggler over (any ground pound will do that) and reveal the path we need to take. We stomp Wiggler for lots of Star Bits.

The path goes to the back on the left side of the planet. We find a wooden switch to reveal steps to a high part of the planet. We wall-jump up to there and find two wooden walls in the water. It doesn't look like there's anything up here, until you notice the shadow of a Launch Star in the water. We wall-jump up the walls and launch. We land on a planet with Piranha Plants and jump down to a nearby planet with Wigglers. We sling into a ? Coin which gives us a Rainbow Star. We jump down the hole at the top of the planet. We land on a planet with a windmill. We pound the switch on the other side of the windmill, which starts the windmill. We have to dodge Mandibugs, which look like ladybugs with clamping jaws. They will try to attack us if we cross their path, so get out of the way quickly. We can also defeat them with a ground pound. Back near the windmill, we drop down to a checkered platform with a Life Shroom, although we really don't need the extra health. We ride the platforms on the windmill to the top, where there are two Mandibugs, stacked on top of each other. The one on top is much smaller. Battle music starts playing. We pound the top one and the large one turns red. If we stand on it, it will panic for a while before it flips us off. We pound the bigger one and it poofs into the Star.
Star Get #6, 21 Coins, 930 Star Bits, 15 Lives

Luigi
We got the 1-up on the ledge and free the vine to reach the other side of the planet. We sling up and activate two switches, then launch. We sling and get the Rainbow Star from the ? Coin. We jump down the hole and accidentally ran off the windmill area. There is a Sling Star near the Wiggler that will take us back up there. We activate two more switches to start the Windmill and pound the stacked Mandibugs.
Star Get #6, 9 Coins, 597 Star Bits, 41 Lives

Honeyhive Galaxy - Bee Mario/ Luigi Takes Flight

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
As we come in for a landing, we see the starry night sky surrounding the galaxy, but when we land, it's instantly a bright, sunny day. This galaxy is mainly inhabited by bees. It's a grassy planet. Honeyhive music plays. If we look to the right, we'll see Star Bits in the shape of an M. Behind where you start is a 1-up on a small ledge. A bee near the start says, "Welcome to the Honeyhive Kingdom! Our queen rules this land." As we continue up the small slope, we see a fountain with a ? Coin. Collecting it makes a Bee Shroom appear near the Piranha Plant down the slope. We get it and transform into Bee Mario! We get a message: "You transformed into Bee Mario! Hold (A) to buzz around." Holding (A) will allow us to fly briefly. We can also stand on clouds and flowers. We will lose the power if an enemy hits us or we touch water. A bee on a ledge directs our attention to a very large bee in the background, saying, "See that area behind the waterfall? That's our queen's castle!" We fly behind the waterfall and find a hole in a stump. Behind the stump is a 1-up. We go through the hole, as directed by the nearby bee, and slide down. We find lots of coins on spinning purple flowers, as well as patches of honey on the ground. The honey is sticky like mud and will slow us down. At the end of the path is a large patch of honey with a Launch Star. We launch to the next area.

We land on a lily pad on a pond. We have to navigate carefully if we don't want to lose our Bee Suit. There are purple blooms that we can shake to use as vines to gain altitude. There is a 1-up on a flower. We launch to the next area, which starts as a wall with patches of honey called honeycomb. We can stick to the honeycomb to climb up walls. We kill a Piranha Plant to get a vine up to the top of the planet. We see the large bee, who has a crown, a cape, and shoes. She is the Queen Bee, and says, "And who might you be? A physician, we presume? No matter. We are in the most vexing predicament and require assistance. The most furious and itchiness plagues our entire being! It must be stopped! Please find the source at once!" We fly to the Queen and start crawling on her. We notice Launch Star Chips on her body, one of which moves around. She tells us that she's feeling better as we collect Star Chips. After we collect them all, and the Launch Star appears, she says, "'Well done!' My thanks! You have shown much bravery, New Bee. We trust that we may rely on you in the future." The Launch Star appears behind her. We fell in the water before we launched. We launched to the top of a tree on a main planet and find the Toad Brigade!

We find Pink Toad break dancing, spinning on his hand. Blue Toad has glasses, Yellow Toad is asleep, and Green Toad has a pick ax, wondering how they are going to get back. Red Toad has a head light and pack and says (if you're not Bee Mario), "'Hey!' Oh, wow! It's Mario! We escaped from Peach's Castle too! But then we thought Bowser would get us, and then we got lost with Luigi... ...Oh! I just rememberd! We found a Power Star! I'm sure you need this, so here, take it. Take this Power Star!" He pulls out the Star. If we are Bee Mario when we land, he says, "AAAAUGH! A BEE! ...What?! Mario? Hey... it's YOU!" and continues about escaping from the castle. The Toad Brigade music plays when he talks.
Star Get #5, 31 Coins, 670 Star Bits, 15 Lives

Interlude
We land on the main deck of the Observatory. Rosalina says, "'Ah!' Mario... Your name is Mario, isn't it? That is what I heard from your friends who just arrived. Mario... It has such a nice ring. 'Look!' Your friends are waiting for you in the Garage. I think they want to tell you something, so you'd best hurry on over there."

We go to the Garage, where the Lumas are creating something. The Toads are there. Yellow Toad is homesick, Blue Toad hopes that Rosalina isn't a witch, and Green Toad tells us that the Lumas are building a ship for them so they can hunt for Power Stars and find Peach. Pink Toad is carrying a mailbag and says, "Mr. Maaario! Check it out, I'm a mailtoad! And I have a letter for you!" It's from Peach. We hear her say, "Oh1" The letter reads, "Dear Mario, I'm in a faraway palce. But I'm all right because you're coming to rescue me! P.S. I hope this gift will come in handy. From Peach"
Pink Toad continues, "Princess Peach included 5 1-Up Mushrooms in her letter. Would you like them now? Yes /No 'Pretty!' Aw... Even when she's kidnapped, the princess is so thoughtful! Well, come see me next time there's mail delivery." We will get a letter with 5 1-ups everytime we start the game, plus a letter with a 1-up periodically during gameplay. How Peach manages to send us 1-ups and never bothers trying to mail herself is beyond me. Oh well, it's a very nice gift just the same.

Red Toad says that he's the captain of the newly formed Toad Brigade. They will help us get Power Stars.

Luigi
We land in the Honeyhive and get the 1-up on the ledge. We get the ? Coin to make the Bee Shroom appear. We get a message: "You transformed into Bee Luigi! Hold (A) to buzz around. We go into the tunnel and get the 1-up behind the stump over the slide. We take the Launch Star at the end of the honey path and climb the honeycomb to reach the Queen Bee. We collect the Star Chips and launch to meet up with the Toad Brigade. Red Toad says, "AAAUGH! A BEE!...What?! Luigi? Hey... it IS you! We escaped from Peach's Castle too! But then we thought Bowser would get us, and then we got lost with Luigi..." We get the Power Star.
Star Get #5, 16 Coins, 488 Star Bits, 18 Lives
Interesting. They mentioned that they got lost with Luigi.

Interlude
We land on the main deck and Rosalina tells us that our name has a nice ring to it. She directs our attention to the Toad Brigade, hanging out near the Garage. Red Toad says, "Luigi! Somehow we made it, too! We'll help you get the Power Stars and save Princess Peach! You can count on us, Luigi! We're all in this together."
Pink Toad has a letter for us from Peach. It's the same letter addressed to Mario. Pink Toad says, "Huh? It's addressed to Mario. Don't be upset, Luigi. Hang in there!" This time, she included 20 1-ups in her letter, which is very generous. It also raises the question as to why she couldn't mail herself. The 1-ups in this game are pretty big, so theoretically, she could fit.

Good Egg Galaxy - King Kaliente's Battle Fleet

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We go through the orange pipe for the 1-up. There is a Launch Star over the house, so we launch to a sandy beach. There are several coconuts on the beach, as well as the red spiky plants. We spin the coconuts into the plants to get rid of them. The large red spiky plant has a Sling Star in it. Pink Toad is trapped in crystal on the beach. If we free him, he spins and says "Woooooo! You saved me! Thanks, Mario! In return, let me tell you a secret about this place. Apparently, those spiky things just HATE coconuts! Shake the Wiimote to spin and smack them with coconuts!" Thanks, but we already figured that out.

We sling to the next beach planet. We knock out most segments of a Pokey with a coconut, then stomp on the head. This releases a Launch Star that takes us to a planet with two Chomps. We go down the green pipe to the secret area, which has a Rainbow Star. We get it and get a message: "You became Rainbow Mario! You're invincible!" As Rainbow Mario, we can destroy everything and it will burst into Star Bits. Unfortunately, this will not keep you from falling into the void. A remix of the Wing Cap music plays. We run into the Chomps outside to get rid of them. We launch to a disc planet with Goombas, Chomps, and electric fences. There are also Bullet Bills that will home in on you if they see you. On the other side of the planet is a tower that fires the Bullet Bills. The Launch Star is in crystal on top of the tower.

We land on an Airship. There are two green Octopi on another ship we can't reach. They fire flaming rocks and coconuts at us. Dodge the rocks and spin the coconuts to return them to sender and kill the Octopi. Don't worry about aiming: they go right back to the Octopi. Taking them both out lowers a bridge to the next airship. We free Green Toad from the crystal and he tells us we have to keep going. On this airship is a sparkling crate which holds a Life Shroom. We get a message: "Your health grew to 6! If it drops below 4, it will return to normal." This allows us to take more damage, but if we take too much, we lose the power until we find another Life Shroom.

We launch to a lava bowl planet. If we approach the lava, King Kaliente, a pink octopus with a crown and cape, appears. Different battle music plays. He will fire three flaming rocks, which we must dodge, then a coconut, which we have to volley back to him for a hit. We have to volley the coconut one more time after each hit. The sound effects are the same as throwing fireballs into Squizzard's mouth. After two hits, his crown falls off. Three hits finish him off. He is knocked back into the lava and the Star appears over a ledge of the bowl.

Star Get #4, 37 Coins, 507 Star Bits, 8 Lives

Luigi
We launch from the roof of the house on the first planet and take out a spiky red plant with a coconut. We sling to the next planet and kill the Pokey with a coconut and a stomp. We launch and enter a pipe with a Rainbow Star. We get a message: "You transformed into Rainbow Luigi! You're invincible!" We sling to the next planet and use the Launch Star on top of the Bill Blaster, We land on an Airshop and take out the Octopi to lower the bridge. We get a Life Shroom with the accompanying message, and launch to the battle arena. We get in our first two hits, which knock Kaliente's crown off, and get the third hit for the Star.

Good Egg Galaxy - A Snack of Cosmic Proportions

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
For this mission, you must collect as many Star Bits as possible. You will need a lot of them. I got a 1-up from the orange pipe and went to the other side of the planet. We go up a long stone path to a blue Luma, who says, "I've got a hungry friend up ahead... You don't mind sharing your snacks, do you?" He transforms into three Pull Stars which lead to a Launch Star. We launch to a planet with a hungry Luma, a type of Luma that eats a lot of Star Bits. We'll be seeing quite a few of them and they will unlock hidden missions. This one says, "Hey, you! Yeah, you! Got any tasty Star Bits? If you feed me a bunch of Star Bits, I'll burst with snacky happiness and then transform! I'm famished! I need 100 Star Bits to curb the hunger pangs! Soooooooo hungry!" This is the most any hungry Luma in a galaxy will ask for, but you should still collect Star Bits, in case you find one. At that point in the game, I had 104 Star Bits, so I fed him. You don't have to be super precise when aiming, so all you have to do is press [B] while the cursor is on him. Once we feed him, new music plays, he gets larger, and he says, "I'm stuffed! Here we go! TRANSFOOOORM!"

He transforms into a new planet, and we get a message that a new planet was born. A pink Launch Star appears where the Luma was. We land on a planet of grass and stone with red spiky plants and Goombas. We find a 1-up there and climb to the top to reach the Launch Star. We then land on a clear, pill-shaped planet, where the Bubble Breeze music plays. There is crystal over a hole which gives us access into the planet. The inside of the planet is a 2D ant farm with a gravity challenge. We have to reach the other side of the planet while dealing with gravity arrows. We find another 1-up and reach the top, where we find another Launch Star. We launch through the glass to a planet that looks like the Launch Star/ Sling Star icon with the Star in the center. There are 5 blue Pull Star Chips to collect. Collecting them will create five Pulls Stars we can use to reach the Star. Alternatively, you can long-jump to the Star, which is what we did.
Star Get #3, 30 Coins, 355 Star Bits, 18 Lives

When we return, Polari says, "Well done, brave explorer! You've discovered a new galaxy! Collecting Power Stars will expand our range of vision, perhaps to include the enemy base..."

Luigi
We land on the first planet and get the 100 Star Bits we need here, mainly from the falling Star Bits. We use the Pull Star to reach the Launch Star. We land on the planet with the hungry Luma and feed him, after launching around to get more Star Bits. We launch to the new pill-shaped planet and enter. We backflip to the up gravity arrows for a shortcut up. We get a 1-up and launch out of the planet, then long-jump to the Star.
Star Get #3, 15 Coins, 3475 Star Bits, 14 Lives

Good Egg Galaxy - Dino Piranha

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land in Good Egg Galaxy, the first major galaxy we'll visit. The Good Egg Galaxy music plays. We land on a disc-shaped planet with a house that has an orange pipe on the roof. If we go through the pipe, we enter a special area with new music. There is a ? coins that creates music notes that play the underground theme when you collect them. If we collect them all, we get a 1-up. On the other side of the special area is another orange pipe that takes us to the other side of the planet. We can also reach the other side by walking. It's darker on this side. There is a stone wall leading up to a Luma. He says, "My friends are you ahead. Hurry!" He transforms into a Sling Star and we sling to a planet with boulders, mud, and Launch Star Chips. Two are close to us, two are in the middle, and one is on the far end of the planet. Time getting the Star Chips carefully to avoid a boulder hitting you. Try to stay out of the mud, as it will severely slow you down.

We launch to a small planet with a Piranha Plant and a ? coin. We kill the Piranha Plant to make a vine to the next planet appear. The next planet has several boulders. There are two ways to go here, and both will get us a 1-up: we can either continue forward on the planet we're on, or kill the Piranha Plant in the green pipe to access a secret area. The planet has sling plants, which we can use to destroy boulders and Chomps. The secret area requires us to clear several sets of flipswitches while Bubble Breeze Galaxy music plays. Either way, we end up on another small planet, where we notice footprints in the sand, but can't see who created them. If we follow them, approach the source, and spin, (which isn't easy), we will make a blue sack enemy visible. It will release 20 Star Bits. Further on, we see several blue Octoombas on stone steps that move. There is a Launch Star at the top. Behind the tower is a 1-up. I died from the Octoombas.

Take 2- We free the Launch Star at the top of the tower from the crystal and launch to the next planet. We land on a large egg and crack it. Its tail appears and it starts moving. The Ghostly Galaxy music (an underground remix) plays. We approach the tail and spin into it. The tail flings out, then slings into the egg, cracking it completely. It's head is revealed to be that of a large Piranha Plant with petals. The battle music plays. All we have to do is spin his tail a few more times, making him lose petals and change colors. He turns red, then purple when he loses all of his petals. He wails in pain and poofs into a Star.
Star Get # 2, 313 Star Bits, 13 Lives

Interlude

We land back in the Terrace, where Polari has something to tell us: "Those things are Star Bits. To Lumas, they are the tastiest, most delectable treats imaginable. Aim your Wiimote at the screen and point your cursor at them to pick them up. Once you have some, shoot them by aiming with the cursor and pressing [B]. Why don't we try it out? Aim at me and feed me some Star Bits." We shoot some Star Bits at him until he continues, "Let's call those little morsels my fee for this lesson. You can also shoot them at enemies or feed them to a hungry Luma. Either way, I am sure Star Bits will be a big help on your adventure."
Now that we know what Star Bits are for, let's get more Stars!

Luigi
We land on the planet with the house and walk to the other side, up the ramp, and backflip and spin to the Launch Star. We dodge boulders and get the Launch Star Chips. After launching, we kill Piranha Plants for vines. This takes us up to a grassy planet with lots of boulders rolling around. We use a sling plant to kill a large purple Piranha Plant for a vine to the next area, where we find a 1-up behind the tower the Octoombas are standing on. We launch to Dino Piranha's planet, land on his egg, and crack it. We know the drill: spin the tail to slam it into his head. Do this 4 times for victory.
Star Get #2, 11 Coins, 207 Star Bits, 10 Lives

Interlude
We get the Star Bit Tutorial and feed Polari.

Gateway Galaxy - Grand Star Rescue

Welcome to the Galaxy!
Mario
We land on a hollow planet with many holes. If we fall through a hole, we'll be sucked into a black hole and lose a life. We wander around and find a yellow Luma, who says "Hi there! Good to see you! I have some bad news, though. See, I HAD a Launch Star all ready for you, but a Meteor smashed it up! You can't leave without it, so find all the Star Chips to fix it. Oh, and be sure not to fall in the black hole! Where are all those Star Chips?

We find a 1-up mushroom on a rock and get a message: "You earned one additional Mario!" Meteors rain down on the planet, which we have to dodge. We find the five Star Chips on rocks and in crystal. Once we get them all, a Launch Star over a rock appears and we launch to the next planet. We land on a round planet with an antenna and Goombas. We find a Luma in a cage, who says, "Get me out of here! One of those enemies should have the key! You can shake to spin them aroundand make them dizzy. Once they're stunned, just run into them!" We stomp a normal-looking Goomba for the key and the cage automatically opens. We approach the Luma, who says, "Thanks! Would you mind rescuing my buddy in that base up there, too? I'll transform into a Sling Star. Just jump into me afeter I... TRANSFORM!

We sling to the next planet, which is a larger version of the last planet with electric fences. There is another Luma trapped in cage, who gives us the same information on how to defeat enemies. Another Luma tells us to collect coins to restore health. On this planet is a giant Goomba. We can't stomp it, but we can spin and kick it. It's kind of springy and gives us the key. The freed Luma tells us to go down the pipe it's hovering over.

We are now inside the planet. The Luma there says, "We've been waiting for you!" He draws our attention to a Grand Star trapped in a machine (which makes it look bronze). "That's a Grand Star! We have to save it! They're using the Grand Star to power that awful machine. It looks like it's making... something. We have to do something before the Grand Star's power is drained. Quick! Find a way to stop that terrible machine! Please! Save the Grand Star before it's too late!"

We don't have a time limit, so don't worry. We have to clear all of the flipswitches, some of which are under the electric fences. I died once from the electric fences because I wasn't paying attention. Many flipswitches surround the Grand Star. We clear them all and the dome over the Grand Star disappears. The peaceful stars music plays. The Lumas thank us and tell us to get the Grand Star and bring it to Mama. We grab the Grand Star and the Grand Star music plays.

We got the big Star! The game is over, right? In Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, when you get a big Star or Shine Sprite, it means the game is over.

We fly around a dark Observatory and land on the deck. The Grand Star spins into the red beacon, making it bigger and orange. The Terrace, Garage, Fountain, deck, and Map light up. A star on the deck starts rotating.

GRAND STAR GET #1!
Star Get #1, 9 Coins, 64 Star Bits, 6 Lives

We've discovered a new galaxy in the Terrace!

Interlude

The black Luma, Polari, says, "The beacon is lit again!"

Rosalina says, "It shines weakly, maybe only as bright as a Class 6 star, but at leas the poor Lumas will survive. now. Oh, thank you for saving the Grand Star. These star people are my family... They mean so much to me. Welcome to the Comet Observatory. It's my home, and also home to the Lumas. You see, we travel the starry skies. We pass by this area once every one hundred years, but we suddenly stopped in front of this planet. A strange force had latched on to our ship, pulling away Star Bits and our power source, Power Stars. Our ship had lost power, so it entered a deep hibernation state in which it could not move. Those who took your special one picked up the Power Stars... And discovered the power to cross the universe. Please, I have a request... Thsi observatory uses Star Power to project images of the galaxies that are scattered across space. And... there is a chance we can use our few remaining stars to look for other Power Stars. These round rooms are called domes. We observe galazies from domes such as these. But the only one that is working now, powered by the Star Power you restored, is this one... the Terrace. Please go to the Terrace and try to recover the Power Stars from the galaxies you can see from there."

Polari continues, "If we do that, we'll be able to restore the Comet Observatory's ability to fly like a starship. Then perhaps we can pursue the thieves who ran off with the Power Stars.

We are then given the option to save. That was a little long, but in summation, the Observatory could fly around, but Bowser drew off the Power Stars, which the Observatory uses for fuel, so it's stuck for a while. The Power Stars is what allows Bowser to move through the universe. The Observatory needs more Power Stars so it can move again and we can get those Power Stars from galaxies. We can access different galaxies from the various domes on the Observatory, but we've only opened the Terrace so far. Unfortunately, the Observatory is much larger than Starship Mario and not as energy efficient, so it won't be zipping across the cosmos any time soon. Well, let's get started!

We can go in the dark areas of the Observatory, but can't access anything there. We wander around, getting a 1-up from the crate in the Garage. We can get a lot of them this way, as they regenerate if you go into a dome. We then go into the Terrace, as there really isn't much else to do now.

Polari appears in the dome. (He'll appear in all of the domes, and in front of the map.) He says, "Welcome! This dome acts as an eye of the observatory. From here, we can gae upon distant galaxies. Once this Luma transforms into a Pull Star, he will guide you to those far away galaxies. Simply point your cursor at the Pull Star and press (A)."

We use the Pull Stars to reach the top of the dome, where the view changes. We can see some galaxies and their orbits. Polari continues, "These are the galaxies that can be observed from this dome. The numbers represent their distance from the observatory. The bigger the number, the greater the distance. The more Power Stars you find, the farther you will be able to travel." Meaning the number on the galaxy is the number of Stars you need to collect to unlock it. Polari says, "Yes, it's undeniable! We're detecting Power Star energy patterns in the nearest galaxy. But I must warn you that the evil energy readings are off the charts! Please be careful..."

Now that we have all that information, let's get the next Power Stars!

Luigi
We land on the same hollow planet with the Launch Star Chips. We get the 1-up, getting the message: "You earned one additional Luigi!" We get all of the Lauch Star Chips and launch to the next planet. We get the key to free the Luma and sling to the next planet. We take out the giant Goomba and free the Luma. We clear the flipswitches and free the Grand Star. Luigi says "Star!" when he gets a Grand Star.
GRAND STAR GET #1!
Star Get #1, 43 Coins, 23 Star Bits, 5 Lives
The beacon lights up and the Terrace and Fountain Domes light up. We get the same dialogue from Polari and Rosalina. We get a 1-up from the crate and head into the Terrace Dome. Let's go!

Super Mario Galaxy: Save the Princess. Save the Universe.

The Princess has been kidnapped - IN SPACE! The villain wants to make a kingdom - IN SPACE! The hero must save the princess - IN SPACE! Sounds like a bad 90s movie, but it's a really great game! Let's begin this galaxy-hopping adventure!

A storybook opens to tell us a tale while the story music plays.

Every hundred years, a comet appears in the skies above the Mushroom Kingdom. The comet was so large one year, it filled the skies and sent countless shooting stars raining down. The Toads brought the shooting stars to the castles, where they became a great Power Star. It should have been a very happy time for the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. That was the night of the Star Festival, held once every hundred years, to celebrate the comet.

We then see Peach, who reads aloud a letter to Mario:
Dear Mario,
I'll be waiting for you at the castle on the night of the Star Festival. There's something I'd like to give you. From Peach

Mario runs through the castle gates while Star Bits rain down. The Star Festival music plays. The Toads tell us that all of the guests are here and we're the last to arrive. They also tell us to collect Star Bits with the Star Cursor. We walk into town, colletcting Star Bits. There are several houses we can't enter, so we stay on the path. The castle comes into view and we approach the town square.

Suddenly, a blast from nowhere rocks the square. Meteors rain down and trap Toads in crystal on impact. Airships appear over the lake near the castle, with flags of Bowser and crossed swords. We see Peach on the balcony, holding a white Luma. Two Toads in star capes cower behind her. Bowser says, "Princess Peach! You are formally invited... To the creation of my new galaxy! Gwahahahah! This festival's over!" Electric energy comes from his hands and a flying saucer appears overhead.

We regain control of Mario in the ravaged town square. Toads not trapped in crystal are panicking. Some run around in circles, periodically tripping. They beg us to save the princess. We follow the path to the castle, as we can't do anything about the crystal. As we get closer, we can hear Peach saying "HELP ME!" as she waves her hands. We approach the castle and the flying saucer fires lasers into the ground, circling the ground surrounding the castle. The blast knocks Mario and the Toads off their feet. The airships drop chains into the ground and pick up the castle, like in Paper Mario, but this time, Mario comes along and the castle completely leaves the planet. Peach calls out "Mario!" Mario stands on the broken bridge to the castle, when a Magikoopa appears. It says, "So long! Enjoy your flight!" It uses its magical wand to send a blast of magic to break up the bridge, sending Mario tumbling into space. It laughs, while Peach calls to Mario again before the castle disappears. As it disappears, the white Luma Peach was holding flies away from the castle.

Mario wakes up on a small grassy planet. The white Luma appears and turns into a white Star Bunny. It says, "Finally, you're awake! Let's play!" The Star Bunny hops away, saying, "C'mon! Jump with (A)!" He leads us to two yellow-eared Star Bunnies. The white Star Bunny says, "Let's play hide-and-seek! If you catch all of us, we'll tell you about where you are." They hop off and disappear with a poof. We find the white one in one of the craters. As we find them, they will turn back into Lumas and give us a hint as to where another is hiding. They are hiding in the large crater, a patch of grass, and a pipe. This forces us to explore the planet, which has sling pods, houses, and tree stumps. We can't normally go into the houses. We can find more Star Bits here. Our total goes reaches 50, giving us a 1-up. When we catch all of them, they gather together. One says, "Wow! You caught all of us? Maybe really can help Mama...

A platform appears. A staircase spirals around the edge. We climb to the top, where we see a woman with light blond hair, wearing a blue dress, floating above the platform. She says "Ooooh!" "I've been watching you from here. This place is called the gateway to the starry sky... My name is Rosalina. I watch over and protect the cosmos. To save your special one, you'll need the power to travel through space." "Hmm!" The white Luma appears. "Luma can give you this power. I will entrust you with his care."

The Luma spins down into Mario, making his hands glow. We get a message: "You have the ability to spin now! Shake the Wiimote!" (Shaking the Nunchuk works, too.)

Rosalina continues, "Disaster has struck us, just as it has visited you. With Luma, I hope you can rescue the Grand Stars. May the stars shine down on you..." She floats up and diappears.

The yellow Luma says, "Shake the Wiimote to spin into things that look breakable! You can even spin enemies to stun them." There is a large crystal on the platform. We spin into the crystal to break it and free the Launch Star. The Luma says, "This is a Launch Star. Shake the Wiimote when you're near one to shoot through space like a comet! Now, go and explore the universe! There are lots and lots of galaxies for you to discover!" We can now see planets in the distance. An icon tells us to shake the Wiimote near the Launch Star and Mario launches into space. The adventure has begun!

Luigi
We start Super Luigi Galaxy with Luigi waking up on the grassy gate planet. The Luma dialogue is the same. We chase after the Star Bunnies, which is a little easier because Luigi runs faster than Mario. He also slides to a stop, which is a pain. We catch all the Star Bunnies and the tower with Rosalina appears. She tells us the same story, we get the Spin Power, and we launch into our adventure!

Pickle!

It's time to start the next game! Actually, I started playing it in October 2010, but stopped when I found out that the Nintendo 3DS was coming out in March 2011. I, like so many others, thought that the launch line-up might include a Mario title, or at least a major franchise game. So, I put this game on hold for something that was shorter (Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS). Now that those games are finished, and we know that the next Mario game will be out in November, I'm going to continue what I started. It's a long game, but I have about a quarter of it finished. Hopefully I will have the gameplay and blogging done by the time Super Mario 3D Land comes out. Here we go!

Super Mario 64 DS Character Dialogue

Super Mario 64 DS has a lot of dialogue which changes when you use a different character. You discover some trends, like that most Toads respect Mario and hope Yoshi helps get things done. Luigi gets very little respect and a lot of characters fear Wario, but some can see that he can be a good person. Enjoy the hilarity.

Foyer Toad

Yoshi- Thank heavens you came too, Yoshi! Bowser has locked Princess Toadstool and all of us inside the walls. He stole our Power Stars and is using their magic to create an evil land of monsters in the castle walls and paintings. Mario and his buddies want to retrieve the Stars, but they haven’t come back. Last I saw them, they were heading to the room on the left with the painting of the Bob-ombs. Where are they?! Are they taking a nap somewhere? So now it’s up to you, Yoshi, to find them and retrieve the Stars! We all are depending on you!

Mario- Mario! Am I glad to see you! I hadn’t seen you in so long that I was getting worried! Looks like you met up with Yoshi all right, huh? You better get back to finding the Power Stars. Princess Toadstool is depending on you! You are our only hope.

Luigi- Huh…? Who are you? Oh, yes…Luigi, right? You’re always in Mario’s shadow, so I didn’t recognize you at first. Princess Toadstool is still trapped in the walls. Won’t you please retrieve the Power Stars, Luigi? But don’t get in Mario’s way or anything.

Wario- Eek! Oh, i-it’s you, Wario. You’re looking as bad as ever. S-sorry. Sorry! Don’t give me that dirty look. A-actually, now that I look closer, you look horrible. Erm, horribly healthy, that is. I’m not just saying that. Have you been working out? Princess Toadstool is still trapped in the walls. We’re all counting on your muscle to defeat Bowser and get the Power Stars. Wait a minute. You wouldn’t sneak one out of the castle, right? Eek! J-just kidding!

Bob-omb Toad

Yoshi- Yoshi! Mario and the others just jumped into that picture. But… they haven’t come back out, despite the castle’s plight. Despite all that, it’s really rude to act like a maniac. Use the Touch Screen to run and walk, even across narrow ledges.

Mario- Mario, Yoshi jumped into that picture chasing you. Did he find you? The mountain in that picture looksl like a great place to relax. I bet it’s a peaceful land, with no strife.

Luigi-Luigi, I heard that you can run on water for brief periods. That’s just incredible! I have a new respect for you, seriously. Oh! I know! Can you show me a backward somesault? (Typo) Spin, spin, SUPERSPIN!

Wario- Wario, it’s impolite to shuffle noisily around the castle, you know. No matter how tough you look…it’s…umm…prohibited.

Whomp Toad

Yoshi- Bowser took all the Stars I tried to hide here. There are 7 Stars in each course. You’ll need your buddies to get some of them. Teamwork goes a long way when you’re going up against Bowser.

Mario- Mario, why don’t you triple jump into the painting? It’s such a stylish move! I’ll watch it from here.

Luigi-What?! You’re Luigi? The world’s most inept and least charismatic brother? Wow! Can you introduce me to Mario? Huh? Did we meet the other day? I totally forgot. You’re not very memorable. I guess your brother got all the charisma in the family, huh!

Wario- Your reputation’s bad, Wario, but it’s only because your mustache is mean looking. If you ask me, it’s a good look. It’ll scare the enemies into forking over the stolen Power Stars!

Jolly Roger Toad

Yoshi- The Star you chose at the beginning of the course appears on the map below. The anme of the Star is also a clue. You can also collect Stars that don’t appear on the map. Get the Stars in any order you like. Keep in mind, though… Some Stars only appear when you choose specific missions, enemies, and items. Once you’ve retrieved some Stars, move on to the door to the next course. Everyone’s waiting for you to save us!

Mario- Being imprisoned in these walls can drive a fungus crazy. When I really start to freak out, I think to myself, “Well, I’m going to be here for a while, so I might as well stare at the fish. They are oddly hypnotic.” Then I actually start to like being captured… … … … Aaauugh! IT’S MADNESS! I’ve got to snap out of this! You have to free us before we’re all completely brainwashed! … But for now, why don’t you gaze at the fish with me. You look tense. Come relax.

Luigi-Sometimes when I’m staring at the fish, I think I wouldn’t mind staying here forever. It helps me forget about my horrible fate. Would you like to join me and watch them together? It’ll soothe you.

Wario- Wario?! Eek! There are no valuables in here, so please don’t hurt me. I’m serious! Why don’t you just sit down and stare at the fish with me?

Basement Toad

Yoshi- Wow! You’ve recovered that many Stars? Way to go, Yoshi! I knew I could count on you. You’ll have us out of here in no time! Be careful though. Bowser and his band are getting desperate. Here’s a tip to help you out: When you fall from a high place, you can avoid getting hurt if you pound the ground before you land.

Mario- Wow! You’ve already recovered that many Stars? Way to go! You’ll have us out of here in no time! Be careful, though. Bowser and his band wrote the book on bad. Take my advice: When you fall from a high place, it’ll hurt less if you ground-pound near the ground. If you go back to your room, you can switch places with Yoshi. Everyone desereves a chance to shine.

Luigi-Wow! You’ve recovered that many Star? Way to go, Mario! … What? You’re Luigi? I don’t believe it. Luigi couldn’t have pulled off such an impressive feat! Stop trying to fool me, Mario! You might be wearing green clothes… But don’t think I can’t tell you two apart. Fine. If you’re really Luigi, you’ll be able to spin in the air after a backward somersault. You’ll also have amazing agility and be able to run on water for a second. You’ll also be able to scuttle in Standard Mode by holding down (B). When I see you do all that, maybe then I’ll believe you’re Luigi!

Wario- I can tell that you are obsessed with money. But since coins help you recover from injuries, we should all be so greedy. I hear red coins refill 2 pieces of the Power Meter and blue coins refill 5. That’s incredible!

Hazy Maze Toad

Yoshi- That dinosaur-skin look is so aeons ago. You know, even a cap would really spice up your look. Come back when you get one, because I have advice for the fashionably dressed.

Mario- Even if all the caps look the same, the one you’ve been wearing for years is special. Your luck will run out if you lose it. When you lose your cap, hitting a ? Block is very unlucky. But don’t worry. You can find your cap in the course where you lost it. It should appear on the map below.

Luigi- Luigi, even if all caps look the same, the one you’ve been wearing for years is special. Don’t lose it or your luck will run out. If you lose your cap, hitting a ? Block will spell disaster! But don’t worry too much. If you lose your cap, you’ll find it in the course where you lost it – just look at the map below.

Wario- Wario, just because the caps look the same, remember that the one you’ve been wearing for years is lucky. Your luck will turn bad without it. Don’t count on your devilishly good luck to bail you out of this one, Wario. Without your cap, you’ll only get trouble from the ? Block. You can find your last cap in the course where you lost it. It should appear on the map below.

2nd Floor Toad With Star

Yoshi- Wow! Look at all those Power Stars! You HAVE to beat that Bowser! Let me give you a little hint about the castle. In the room with the mirrors, look carefully for anything that’s not reflected in the mirror, and an ally with info. … And when you go to the water town, you can flood it with a high jump into the painting. Oh, and I found this.
Again- Please, give Bowser the boot! Here, let me give you hints about the castle. In the room with the mirrors, look carefully for anything that’s not reflected in the mirror, and an ally with info. … And when you go to the water town, you can flood it with a high jump into the painting.

Mario- Thanks to the Power of the Stars, life is returning to the castle. Please, you have to give Bowser the boot! Here, let me tell you a little something about the castle: In the room with the mirrors, look carefully for anything that’s not reflected in the mirror. You’ll also find a friend in that room who has seen the invisible man… Which is weird because, well, he’s invisible. And when you go to the water town, you can flood it with a high jump into the painting. Oh, and I found this.

Luigi-You’re really whaling on Bowser, Luigi! We’ll have to call you the Luigi Brothers soon! I’ll tell you a secret that will help you out. In the room with the mirrors, look carefully for anything that’s not reflected in the mirror, and an ally with info. … Oh, I found this!

Wario- Wario, I’m so touched. You may be mean looking, but you must have a good heart if you’ve retrieved this many Power Stars. You’ve proven yourself, which is why I trust you with one of the castle’s secrets. In the room with the mirrors, look carefully for anything that’s not reflected in the mirror, and an ally with info. … And when you go to the water town, flood it with a high jump into the painting. Oh, and I found this.
Again- I guess I was wrong about you, Wario! You can’t be all bad if you’ve retrieved this many Power Stars. I’ll trust you with some castle secrets: In the room with the mirrors, look carefully for anything that’s not reflected in the mirror, and an ally with info. … And when you go to the water town, you can flood it with a high jump into the painting.

2nd Floor Toad

Yoshi- Thank you, Yoshi! The Power Stars are returning one by one. You’ve chased Bowser right out of here! Oh, by the way, are you collecting coins? Special Stars appear when you collect 100 coins in each of the 15 courses!

Mario- Thanks! The castle is recovering its energy as you retrieve Power Stars. You’ve chased Bowser right out of here, on to some area ahead. Oh, by the way, are you collecting coins? Special Stars appear when you collect 100 coins in each of the 15 courses!

Luigi- Hey, Luigi! I’m your biggest fan! You’re the best “supporting actor” the world’s ever seen! The work you’ve done guarding Mario is great! I think if you were a bit more shrewd and assertive, you could definitely move into a leading role! By the way, are you collecting coins? Special Stars appear when you collect 100 coins in each of the 15 courses!

Wario- Thank you, Wario! The Power Stars are returning one by one. I feel terrible that I misjudged you. I assumed you came to the castle to steal treasures… It’s just that you have such a nasty-looking face, so I thought… Oh, no, that’s not what I meant to say! Your face is very tough looking, very rugged. Perfect for scaring enemies. Ahem. Oh, yes. You like coins, right? Special Stars appear when you collect 100 coins in each of the 15 courses!

3rd Floor Toad With Star

Yoshi- You’ve finally cornered Bowser, Yoshi! I don’t want to think about what would have happened without you… I noticed something weird in the world inside the clock. When you jump inside, watch the position of the big hand! I retrieved something for you. Here, catch!
Again- You’ve finally cornered Bowser, Yoshi! If you hadn’t been around, it would’ve been disastrous! Also, there’s soemthign strange about that clock. As you jump in, watch the position of the big hand.

Mario- You’ve finally made it this far, Mario. Bowser is waiting on the top floor. Please rescue Peach. Oh, I almost forgot! There’s something odd about that clock. As you jump in, watch the position of the big hand. Oh, look what I found! Here, Mario, catch!
Again- You’ve finally made it this far, Mario. Bowser is waiting on the top floor. Please rescue the princess. I’ll stay here and, um, keep a look out. But before you go, keep in mind that the world inside the clock is weird! When you jump inside, watch the position of the big hand!

Luigi- You’ve finally made it this far, Luigi. Bowser is waiting on the top floor. Please go rescue Princess Toadstool. Oh, I almost forgot! There’s something strange about that clock. As you jump inside, watch the position of the big hand. Oh, look what I found! Here, Luigi, catch!
Again- You’ve finally made it this far, Luigi. I guess Mario’s not the only one who’s super. But remember this before you go! Very strange!

Wario- Wow! Look at all those Power Stars! Guess you’re good at collecting things besides money, huh? Oh, yeah. The world inside the clock is very peculiar. When you jump inside it, watch the position of the big hand! Oh, and I got this for you. Here, catch!

Regular Rabbits

Yoshi- Noooo! Don't eat me! I'm really tought from all the running I do. Seriously. I'd taste horrible. Let me go and I'll give you this.
Aiyeeeee! I thought I was going to die! My entire life flashed before my eyes. Here, tkae the key and leave me alone!
What part of "I'm not your lunch" do you not understand? I already gave you the key! Put me down!
I'm not chow. How many times do I have to tell you that? I know I'm irresistibly cute, but try to restrain yourself!

Mario- Ouch! Put me down! There's no need for violence, you big brute! I picked up the key, so it's mine. I don't see YOUR name on it. But I'll hand it over if you let me go. Here!
Owww! Put me down, you horrible rabbit grabber! I already gave you back the key I sto--I mean, found!

Luigi- I can't believe you caught me! Outrun by a human! This is the worst day of my life. Here, take the key.
Oh, no. I can't believe I got caught again. And by such a nobody! This is really starting to damage my self-esteem.

Wario- How'd you catch up to me with those stubby legs?! Do I have to call you boss from now on? If you put me down, I'll give you this key. Here!
Not bad, "boss." How do you run so fast with those stubby legs? Guess you can't judge a book by its cover, huh.

Big Bob-omb (1st Time)

Yoshi- I’m the Big Bob-omb, baron of all blasting matter, king of ka-booms the world over! Incredible! You’ve made it this far even without a mustache. I commend your courage. Be that as it may, I can’t just give you my precious Power Star. You must defeat me in battle if you want it! You’ll be quite helpless facing my Bob-omb minions. Now, put your tongue back in your mouth. It’s quite undignified. Let’s battle!
Ow! That hurts! How did I lose to a bald-faced fellow like you? Let’s just keep this between you and me. I’ll give you my precious Power Star in exchange. If you want to see me again, just select this Star from the menu.

Mario- I’m the Big Bob-omb, baron of all blasting matter, king of ka-booms worldwide! Look at my splendid mustache. It’s fit for a king! Ho ho! Your mustache makes you look like the peasant you are. What a sad little thing. If you want the Power Star, you must defeat me in battle. Ha Ha Ha! But there’s no way I’d ever lose to a puny mustache like that.
Ow! That hurts! Your throwing aim is still way off, but you’re pretty strong. I’ve always wanted a servant like you…

Luigi- I’m the Big Bob-omb, baron of all blasting matter, king of ka-booms worldwide! You’ve got some nerve making it this far. Despite your looks, you seem to be quite brave. I commend you. Nevertheless, the Power Star is a precious item from King Bowser. I will not give it to you. If you want it, you must defeat me.
Ooh! Ouch! You don’t look like much, but you are pretty tough. Just wait until I restyle my mustache! I’ll make you my servant. See you soon…

Wario- I’m the Big Bob-omb, baron of all blasting matter, king of ka-booms worldwide! What’s this? You’re not royalty… Yet your mustache is distinguished looking. How impertinent of you to flash that facial hair here! I will crush you and yank out that mustache of yours. Don’t you run away!
Ooh! Ouch! Could it be that, with a noble mustache like yours, you’re stronger than me? I’ll be back when my mustaches grows sharper. Just you wait!

Goomboss

Yoshi- Bwa ha ha! I'm no ordinary Goomba... I am Goomboss, the great Goomba, the grand poo-bah Goomba. That Mario always stomps on us. But now the tables have turned! I locked him up in a room. I bet he's crying like a baby. I have no business with you, so scram! There's no way a prehistoric wimp like you could beat my stupendous stomps!
Beaten by a pip-squeak like you... How did that happen? Is it just the Goombas' fate to lose? I have Mario locked up in a room, you know. This key will open the door to his room! I still can't believe you beat me.

Mario- You're Mario!!! What are you doing here?! My underlings locked you up in that room. Never mind. I'll deal with you myself! Now I will trample you as you have trampled us!
Aaaaauuuuuuurrghhh! I am so angry I am cooking in my own succulent juices! The Goombas have lost... Again?! Is this our destiny?! To be trampled by oppressive feet for all eternity? No, we will definitely triumph next time! Yes, next time! The Goombas' fate is not defeat, but perseverance!

Luigi- Whaaa?! You’re… Ma-Mari… …Huh? Oooh, you’re just that Luigi fellow. I confused you with Mario. Your mustaches look so similar. Pshaw! I’ll deal with you specially. Now, bring it on!
This is unbelievable. I…lost to that pip-squeak Luigi! This must be some kind of mistake! I’ll keep my guard up next time we battle. Just you wait…

Wario- I have my sights set on Mario. You’re hardly even worth the energy it would take to trample you. But I do so love to stomp on those who have spent all eternity stomping my clan. And since you’ve come all this way… Bring it on!
I can’t believe you just beat me like that… N-not too shabby. I figured you were a fighter with that mean mustache. I’ll battle you again when I have free time. You should thank your lucky stars that I’ve got such a packed schedule.

Big Boo

Mario- Eee hee hee! I am Big Boo, the spookiest of all the spirits! I locked up the wimpy green mustache man. And I'll do the same to you! Eee hee hee! Since I'm a ghost, I can turn invisible in the mirror's reflection. You'll have to attack me from behind to defeat me. But you'll die of fright before that ever happens! And then you'll be one of us!
Eee hee hee! You can never really kill a ghost! We always come back! See you again. Eee hee hee!

Luigi- Eee hee hee! I am Big Boo, the ghastliest of all ghosts! What the…? I thought I locked you up… Well, never mind. Now I’ll really creep you out! You can’t escape… Eee hee hee!
Eee hee hee! We ghosts always rise from the dead. I just love the look of terror on your face! In fact, I live for it! Eee hee hee! See you soon!

Wario- Eee hee hee! I am Big Boo, the scariest of the spirits. Eek! What’s this?! Your face… It would even scare a ghost. How horrible! You’ve got it backwards… I do the scaring around here! All right, now I’ll put some real fear in that frightening face of yours! Eee hee hee!
Augh! The scariest one wins, and your face is flesh-creepingly frightening. Good thing I don’t have any flesh! Eee hee hee! This is not the end. See you again.

Chief Chilly

Mario- You there with a mustache! I am the king of cold, Chief Chilly. I lock up anyone who challenges the greatness of my mustache. I am the mustache master! In fact, I locked up a rdue fellow just the other day. Hmph!! The nerve of him, coming to my realm looking like that. Your mustache is not altogether bad. Not as grand as mine, of course. But what insolence in trying to show me up! I shall shave that fuzz right off your face. Here I come!
Dang!! There’s someone with a greater mustache than mine? Ridiculous! Does this mean you’re cooler than me, too? You might be gifted follically, but you better watch out once I get my mustache styled.

Luigi- You there with a mustache! I am the king of cold, Chief Chilly. I lock up anyone who challenges the superiority of my ‘stache. In fact, I locked up one such fellow just the other day. Hmm. What a sad, mangy mustache you’ve got there. It hardly seems worth it to destroy you. With a ‘stache like that, you’re clearly the sidekick, not the star. But I’, between meetings now, so I might as well. In the battle for the best mustache, I’ll win, hairs down. Ha ha ha! Bring it on, peach fuzz!
No way! I lost to such a scrawny guy like that…? Hmmmm, did I not groom my mustache well enough? I must hurry home and condition it… Farewell!

Wario- You there with a mustache! I am the king of cold, Chief Chilly. I imprison those who challenge the greatness of my mustache. In fact, I locked a man up just the other… What’s this? You look just like the impertinent mustached man I locked up the other day. Has everyone been taking mustache grower? There’s only one way to settle this once and for all. We’ll battle man-to-man to see who has the best mustache! Let’s rumble!
Oh noooooo! I lost! Augh! My mustache… My pride and joy, my reason for living! Now I suppose I’ll have to explore new pursuits.
