New Super Mario Bros. 2: 6-5

The break from the lava was short-lived. Not only do we have to deal with lava, we also have to deal with Bowser heads breathing fire. There are yellow platforms over the lava that tilt depending on what side you and anything else is on. There is one platform with two spike balls on it. It's below a red pipe. Tilt the platform while standing near the middle to get rid of the spike balls, then run up the platform and go through the red pipe. Wall jump if you have to. There is a spike ball following you in this area, destroying the brick blocks that make the floor. Run quickly and jump to get the first Star Coin, while avoiding the fireballs. Drop back down near the midpoint. Just past the two Bowser heads near the midpoint blocked by blocks. Tilt the yellow platform above it down to the left to roll a spike ball onto the blocks to break them. Next, a spike ball will roll in from above a Bowser head. To the right are two yellow platforms, each with spike balls. Get rid of them to safely get the third Star Coin over the higher yellow platform. There's a staircase of Bowser heads in front of the flagpole.

New Super Mario Bros.: 6-5

A pipe takes us to an underwater level. The green Cheep-Cheep will chase you, so swim quickly or take them out with fireballs. The first Star Coin is near the ceiling. Shortly after is a Red Coin Ring. You'll find a vortex or two in this level. They'll be periodic, so they'll disappear after a short while. Use this time to swim past them and up a yellow pipe between two of them. The 2nd Star Coin is here. Once you return to the main level, you'll reach the midpoint. Nearby is an item block shrouded in seaweed. It has a Starman to make your life easier. Towards the end of the level is a vortex with brick blocks at its base. Go down it to reach the 3rd Star Coin. The pipe will leave you near the end pipe and a giant green Cheep-Cheep. Take the pipe to the flag immediately.

Super Mario 3D Land: 6-5

We need 60 Star Coins to unlock this level. This is a snow-covered level with wintery music. We spring up the springy mushrooms and come across a moving springy mushroom. We bounce over the platforms in the way and go under the one it stops under for the first Star Coin. Next to it is another moving springy mushroom that takes us to the midpoint. We hop up and find a Red Coin ring that gives us a 1-up. We take another moving springy mushroom and fall off.
Take 2- We ride the springy mushroom and wall jump between the wooden walls to reach the second Star Coin. We cross the dropping platforms to springy mushroom stairs and another moving springy mushroom. The third Star Coin is just below its path. We drop to the dropping platforms to get it. There's a gap in the wall, so we go through it to continue. Springy mushrooms form stairs to the flagpole.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii 6-5 QSC

The 3rd Star Coin is accessible by a vine in an invisible block in the 2nd pool of the cavern with the 4 large item blocks floating in it. I used the Propeller Block to get it. Nearby is the red goal, which opens up a direct path to the Castle.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii: 6-5 -- Big Fish, Small Problem

I used a Super Shroom to start the level. There is a respawning Porcu-Puffer here that will probably eat Mario alive. I got a Fire Flower and use it to kill the Porcu-Puffer again and again while negotiating the rising tide. I get the 1st Star Coin. I reached the midgate, but lost the Fire Flower to a Koopa. I got the 2nd Star Coin and died from the Porcu-Puffer.

Take 2- I used a Super Shroom and get another Fire Flower so I can kill the Porcu-Puffer. I got the 2nd Star Coin. I used a Propeller Block to get a 100-coin 1-up and reached the goal.

I feel a greater sense of flow now. I can now get in the equivalent of one world in 2.5 hours or less. By an equivalent of one world, I mean I game Fort to Fort, rather than Castle to Castle. I feel that my skills with the game have improved tremendously from when I started. Lots of practice has helped. I should be finishing the game (beating Bowser) next week as I have just finished beating 8-Fort. I plan to go back through the game to get all of the Star Coins, and beat the levels that I skipped. Those levels will probably be called "Quest for the Star Coins". When I actually do this is unknown, because I plan to finish Super Mario Galaxy before Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes out in late May and I really want to get that game started.
