Dusty Dune Galaxy - Soaring on the Desert Winds
Mario
Once again, Noelle is my Co-Star. We land on a patch of sand in the middle of a quicksand planet. Slow, Egyptian-style music plays. The quicksand in this galaxy is the instant death kind. It will drag you under immmediately, as noted on the signs in the quicksand with the skulls, which oddly, don't sink themselves. We hop to another patch of sand, where we see several tornados over the quicksand. We jump into the closest one, which spins us around. If we shake the Wiimote, Mario takes off as a little Mario-copter. We can control him as he slowly descends. We want to make sure he lands in another tornado, so watch his shadow relative to the tornados' shadows. We get a 1-up in the air. We guide Mario over to a green pipe on a patch of sand.
This is a 2D area where an Underground remix plays. We land on a sand slide and end up over a large set of blocks. We ground pound near the right wall and move to the right where we find three Thwomps. Over the middle one is a 1-up. Be quick and careful about moving over them, as they will crush you when they reach the ceiling. We get a Life Shroom. We drop down to a lower sand slide. The ? Coin makes several Star Bits appear. Another ? Coin gives us a Fire Flower so we can take out the Piranha Plants nearby, some of which are on the low ceiling. We move quickly, but a giant boulder still hits us. At the end of the slide is a Sling Star which will sling us to a green pipe on the ceiling, with lots of Star Bits on the way.
Outside, we find a Launch Star wich takes us to a tower. We use a tornado to reach a higher level and get a 1-up. We walk around the tower to find more tornados. We get in one and use them to reach the ? Coin, which produces two Sling Stars. We use the tornados on the left to go up the tower behind the glass. The ? Coin makes more Star Bits. Behind the glass, we wall-jump up, walk over a short distance, and slide down the wall to a ledge on the right. We wall-jump up the right-most section of the tower. We ride the red brick up to the top of the tower, and backflip and spin to the area with the Star. There is slow quicksand with red bricks periodically popping out the quicksand. We hop on them to the Star in crystal.
Star Get #57, 21 Coins, 2637 Star Bits, 10 Lives
Luigi
We get use the tornados to reach the green pipe. We get the 1-up and the Life Shroom, and use the Fire Flower to take out the Piranhas. We reach the green pipe on the ceiling and launch to the tower. We use the tornados and wall-jumps to reach the Star in crystal. This took two attempts, as I fell into the quicksand from the side of the tower.
Star Get #57, 3 Coins, 3185 Star Bits, 30 Lives
Interlude
A Hungry Luma appears.

Freezeflame Galaxy - Hot and Cold Collide
Mario
Noelle continues as my Co-Star. The ring planet is now a combination of ice and lava with solar flares flying over the planet. We go to the other side of the planet to find the Launch Star in crystal. We launch to an icy planet where the icy water level shifts like a tide. There are Urchins here. We can find a Life Shroom under one of the ice platforms. There are torches to light and a gear to spin on the opposite side. Spinning it lowers a door, giving us access to the other side of the planet, which is covered in lava, that also shifts like a tide. We walk around a grate to find more Urchins and a gear in the lava. We died from the lava.
Take 2- We spin the gear to lower the door, revealing a Fire Flower. We quickly go to the other side of the planet to light the torches for the Launch Star. This takes us to the path used to race Cosmic Mario, but some of the squares have lava on them. Fortunately, we have the Ice Flower, which freezes even lava, albeit temporarily. We skate our way to the Star, recharging the Ice Flower at every opportunity.
Star Get #56, 2 Coins, 2425 Star Bits, 5 Lives
Luigi
Once again, we launch to the icy planet and spin the gear to access the lava side. This time, I decided to backflip over the wall with the Fire Flower, but getting back over with the Fire Flower was a lot more difficult, because my spin merely shot fireballs. I made it over and lit the torches. I launched to the ice/ lava path and fell off a couple of times, and died from a Goomba. I long-jumped to the Star on Take 4.
Star Get #56. 3027 Star Bits, 33 Lives
Freezeflame Galaxy - Frosty Cosmic Mario/ Luigi Race
Mario
Noelle continues as my Co-Star, but doesn't have to do much here. We land on some icy squares floating in space. Once we move, Cosmic Mario appears. We have to race him over the icy path while skating. We should also get the Ice Flowers that appear. When you run out of squares on your path, you'll have to flip to the ceiling (the camera shifts with you). Jump while on the squares with snow (you can't skate on these). This will make sure that your flip is successful. I got the Star in one attempt.
Star Get #55, 2345 Star Bits, 5 Lives
Luigi
This took me two attempts, as I fell off. Cosmic Luigi does more long-jumps here, but this isn't too bad. Be aware of moving squares and your direction. It's okay to slow down to a walk to ensure accuracy.
Star Get #55, 2925 Star Bits, 33 Lives
Freezeflame Galaxy - Freezeflame's Blistering Core
Mario
Once again, Noelle is our Co-Star. We land on the ring planet and get the Launch Star Chips in the crystals. We long-jump to the Launch Star once we have all five, but we can use the Pull Stars as well. We launch into a lava planet where the Freezeflame lava music plays. It looks like a bunch of ruins surrounded by lava. We backflip, wall-jump, and spin over the tall wall ahead of us. We could walk around it, but this way is a little faster. We get the ? Coin to make a Fire Flower appear. We light the torches on our side of the wall to make it go down. Then we light the torches to our left, dodging the urchins. We can set them on fire for Star Bits. If we get injured, we can't spin out the flames for coins. The area is so hot that the torch will relight itself. We get the Life Shroom under the tower near the other torch. We climb the tower and gravity flips us to the planet's "ceiling". The camera flips as well, so we see things right side up. We walk around platforms that will rotate us into the lava. We walk to an area where urchins come out of holes infinitely. Nearby is a door and some torches. We must use a nearby Fire Flower to light the torches, bouncing our fireballs off the lava. This is a little tricky and will take some practice to line up our shots correctly. Once we do, the door will lower and we'll flip once again.
This time, we see the Star behind a wall on the other side of a river of lava. The lava has a current that pushes platforms to the right. Also to the right, we'll find yet another Fire Flower. On either side of the Star are torches we have to light by bouncing fireballs off the lava again. We can use the floating platforms to allow us to hit it more easily. I died from the lava enemies in the area.
Take 2- I got the Star after lighting the torches and falling in repeatedly. Once the torches are lit, a platform extends and the door blocking the Star lowers. We hop on a moving platform and jump to the new platform to reach the Star.
Star Get #54, 2 Coins, 2313 Star Bits, 5 Lives
Luigi
This took me two attempts without a Co-Star. We get the Launch Star Chips, launch, lower gates with the Fire Flower, and flip twice. We use fireballs to light the torches so we can reach the Star.
Star Get #54, 4 Coins, 2889 Star Bits, 34 Lives
Freezeflame Galaxy -The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr
Mario
We catch the penguin again for the Launch Star. After getting the Ice Flower, we climb the mountain, going forward instead of to the right, where the water sprayers are. At this point, I was joined by a Co-Star, Noelle. We hop up the pushing walls that form a staircase and cross the icy water by jumping over the bobbing platform. We get another Ice Flower, cross the water and hop over pushing walls and reach some water sprayers that bring us to Baron Brrr. He starts throwing ice chunks at us. We hop on the platforms bobbing in the icy water and go under the platform he floats over. We break crystals to reveal an Ice Flower. We use it and skate to the front of his platform and quickly wall-jump up the sides to reach him. All we have to do is treat him like a Lil' Brrr, spin them to shrink them down, then run into them to kick them. This one we have to do three times to defeat. He hops around a lot, making him hard to kick. To make him easier to spin, he slams into the ground and gets stuck briefly, but this causes a shockwave you need to dodge. He summons Lil' Brrrs, which you can kill for coins. He explodes when defeated and the Star appears.
Star Get #53, 9 Coins, 2202 Star Bits, 4 Lives
Luigi
We battle Baron Brrr without a Co-Star. We catch the penguin and launch. We get the Ice Flower and climb up the mountain, going toward the pushing walls. I died from a Lil' Brrr.
Take 2- We get another Ice Flower and jump over the pushing walls and water sprayers, reaching Baron Brrr. I got another Ice flower and was hit by an ice chunk. We skate to reach Baron Brrr and wall-jump up to his platform. We spin and kick him three times for the Star.
Star Get #53, 7 Coins, 2814 Star Bits, 34 Lives

Grandmaster Galaxy - The Perfect Run
Welcome Back to the Galaxy!
This is it! The last Star! It is also my worst performance. It's a Daredevil Run of The Ultimate Test. Personally, I would have preferred a Green Star, Purple Coin, or Cosmic Clone mission over a Daredevil mission. There are a few changes from The Ultimate Test:
- Goombas in the first planet are now green birds, so you can't touch them.
- No midgates.
- There is one 1-up where the Comet Medal was.
- There is Galaxy music playing throughout- Gusty Garden in areas 1-3, 4-5 has Good Egg, and the 6 has Bowser's Galaxy Reactor
I died 332 times during the mission. The worst part is that you have to start the level all over again. Cosmic Rosalina does not show up. Trust me, I played this level over 100 times in one session and she didn't show up once. After about 150 tries, I had to ignore my pride, and take on a Co-Star. After seeing what a Co-Star can do, I realized I should have taken one on earlier to make my life easier. They don't make this mission extremely easy, because I kept dying over 100 more times. I used about 8 Co-Stars, coopting Archive staff members Doug and Joe, as well as other visitors to the Archive who were waiting to play videogames. I ultimately got the Star with John as my Co-Star. With his help, I got it in 10 tries. Thanks to everyone who helped me.
Co-Stars are invaluable in the 6th area, because they can knock down the Hammer and Boomerang Bros. If the enemies are near the edge, they can knock them off the platforms and you don't have to deal with them. After taking out the Boomerang Bros., the Star does not appear, but a Launch Star does. When you launch you launch to the connection the Gate planet from Galaxy. The Observatory music plays. Rosalina stands on the planet, and near her, the Star hovers. You can't go into the house. After all I went through to get this Star, I didn't want to risk falling and dying by checking the underside of the planet. Rosalina says "Mario... So you were the one who collected all of the scattered stars... I want to thank you... Your deeds will live on in the memory of the cosmos... May the stars shine down on you..." I jumped to get the last Star.
Star Get #242, Galaxy Complete!, 953 Star Bits, 11 Lives

Interlude
Mario lands back on the deck of the S.S. Mario.
Lubba- "Chee?" Well, I'll be... All your hard work has brought the lady of the shooting stars right to our own little ship! "Chee?" Feels like forever since we've seen each other. But she hasn't changed!
Lubba draws our attention to Rosalina standing next to him on the green patch on the deck.
Rosalina- "Oh!" I want to give you my thanks.
That's it. She doesn't give you anything but her thanks. This is another violation of the reward principle. Oh, well. It's over! It's finally over! Thanks to everyone who helped me. After defeating the Boomerang Bros. I shook John's hand vigorously and he says I nearly broke it, which is untrue. I was extremely happy that I beat this game. What shall I play next?
