New Super Luigi U: Meringue Clouds- Castle -- Ludwig's Block-Press Castle

This level is filled with large moving blocks on rails that can crush you. You can duck in the alcoves below or jump into alcoves near the walls at the top. You'll have to deal with fire bars and Dry Buzzies on the way. The first Star Coin is near the top on the right side with the first block-press. The second Star Coin is in the top left corner of the second block-press. Jump up above it to find an alcove to dodge the block-press. The third Star Coin is near the boss door. Use the Ice Flower to freeze a Dry Buzzy and throw it at the Star Coin, which is near the bottom. Go through the boss door and battle Ludwig, who flies up, splits into three, then drops down. The one that shoots three flames instead of two from his wand, and drops down last, is the real Ludwig. Try to stomp him as he gets out of his shell cycle to make the battle easier. One you defeat him, move forward in front of Peach's Castle.

New Super Luigi U: Rock-Candy Mines-1 -- Mount Fuzzy

There are mine rafters at the start of the level and Fuzzies moving on paths. High up on the left side of the rafters is an invisible block with a Mini Mushroom. There's a mini pipe later on in the level that will lead you to some coins and 3 1-ups. The first Star Coin is in the center of a path with brick blocks and Fuzzies. Use a shell to get it. Go past the Green Ring and you'll see Fuzzies jumping in the air while moving on paths. Use the Ice Flower to freeze the Fuzzies and use the Fuzzies as platforms to stand on for a short while. The third Star Coin is in the center of another ring of Fuzzies. Freeze the Fuzzies so you can stand on them to reach the third Star Coin. The flag is nearby.

New Super Luigi U: Sparkling Waters- Castle -- Larry's Trigger-Happy Castle

As the name suggests, you're going to be dodging some bullets in this castle. There are Bullet Bills and Banzai Bills in the air and Torpedo Teds in the water. The Ice Flower is available here. The first Star Coin is high in the arch of coins over the water between two Bill Blasters. Take the pipe near the brick wall down underwater. Here you'll find homing Torpedo Teds. Hit the block between two item blocks to make a P-Switch appear. Lure the Torpedo Teds into break the brick blocks around it and hit the switch. This will turn the brick blocks into coins so you can get the second Star Coin in the coins in the middle, near the floor. Alternatively, you can lure the Torpedo Teds into breaking the brick blocks surrounding the Star Coin. On the right side is a pipe and an 8-bit Luigi. Take the pipe to the main level. There is an item block to the left next to the wall of brick blocks. Get the powerup quickly if you need it, as a Banzai Bill will break through the wall very soon. Jump on the brick blocks to the right and keep going. Jump from the brick blocks to reach the third Star Coin before the Banzai Bill destroys the blocks. Keep going to the right to the boss door. Water pillars will appear in Larry's Airship, making stomping him and dodging his attacks a little more difficult. Stomp him three times to win. This opens the path to the Airship in the Soda Jungle. We now have all of the Star Coins in Sparkling Waters.

New Super Luigi U: Layer-Cake Desert- Castle -- Morton's Lava-Block Castle

This castle has lots of platforming on blocks that appear from the lava. There is a Red Coin Ring near the start. The platforms in the area of the first few Red Coins will appear from the lava, so time your run if you want to get them. The first Star Coin is surrounded by brick blocks over a platform bobbing in the lava. Be Super Luigi to break the blocks and get the Star Coin. Move quickly. There are Dry Bones in the castle. Pound the arrow sign for hidden coins. The second Star Coin is near the lava and is blocked periodically by a moving platform. With the Ice Flower, freeze a Dry Bones and throw it to reach it. Near the boss door, run and jump from the last platform in the lava to reach the third Star Coin. You'll go over the boss door to reach it. Once through the boss door and on the Airship, Morton will use his hammer to summon a giant Pokey and hit its segments at you. Jump to dodge, then stomp him three times, preferably before he can summon another Pokey. Victory will open the path to Sparkling Waters and Frosted Glacier. We now have all of the Star Coins in Layer-Cake Desert.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 4: An Amazing Egg-xit, by Boogity

Now that Kamek's out of the way, proceed east. Ahead, Baby Bowser comes to a dead end. The bros catch up. In retaliation for eating the cookies, Baby Bowser eats the Cobalt Star shards. He says they were delicious, but it seems they gave him a little stomacheache at first. The bros try to stomp the shards out of him, but some Shroob flying saucers appear. Yoob is climbing up the cliff. The flying saucers hit him with a laser which makes him grow much larger. He eats Baby Bowser and the bros.

Inside Yoob, the babies are wailing. Luigi finally calms them down with some Yoshi cookies. Baby Mario starts hitting some colorful buttons on the wall. Have the babies jump on the spring to find a Yoshi trying to push a familiar-looking rock. He thinks pushing the rock down the hole will open up a way out of Yoob. He can't push the rock anywhere on his own. Stuffwell thinks there are other Yoshis around that can help. Check out the multitude of bean spots and use the pipe block to reunite the bros. Each time you drill, Yoob winces. Also check out the "trunks" in Yoob's body. You'll find useful items, money, and new enemies called Bullies. One "trunk" has a piece of fruit. Feed it to the Yellow Yoshi near the northern doors to get him to help push the rock. There's a Heart Block in the room so you can heal without using items.

There are five rooms ahead. The room to the west has an RC Shroober terrorizing a Red Yoshi with his robot. Destroy its robot and it attacks. It will send out remote-control robots at you. Hit the flying saucers and jump on the ground-based robots. Once you defeat it, the Red Yoshi will help push the rock. The room to the northwest has a Dry Bones and a Blue Yoshi trapped behind a wall. The Dry Bones may throw bones over the bros' heads. Go to the back wall and hit the buttons so they match the colors of the knobs to the left. This will make a grate appear. Position the bros in front of the gate. The babies will see a set of buttons in front of them. Hit them to match the knobs in front of the gate. The knobs on the gate will light up as they match. When they all match, the gate opens. Talk to the Blue Yoshi to get him to help. The north room has lots of enemies, as well as an item block with Ice Flowers. They're like Fire Flowers, but they may lower a stat of the enemy instead of causing a burn. The northeast room has a Pink Yoshi trapped by spikes. Have the babies use the spring to reach a room with 6 holes. The rightmost hole leads to a bean spot. The middle hole leads to the Yoshi. Hit the button on the wall to make a path. The eastern room has another RC Shroober terrorizing a Yoshi. This one's an Azure Yoshi. Go past the grate to some running water. Approach the front wall and hit the robot with two drops of water to make it short-circuit and break the wall. Defeat the RC Shroober and Azure Yoshi helps push. All six Yoshis cooperate and the rock starts moving.

The rock opens up the passageway to the pipe. The Yoshis follow the path. Go after them. The pipe leads deeper into Yoob. Down here is an egg factory where the Yoshis are put into eggs. Go south. The Yoshis are trying to push another rock. Send the babies up using the spring and move the bros to the northeast corner, where there are eggs in boxes. Have the bros hit the boxes to send the eggs up to where the babies are. With good timing, hit each egg with a drop of water to send it into a hard surface, where it cracks. This releases a Yoshi to help push.

To the south is a room with enemies and "trunks". To the south is a room with the Yoshis, who will give you stuff. Return to the room with the "trunks" and go north. You'll meet a Toad there. His name is Toadbert, but he can't remember anything. It makes his head hurt to think about it. The only thing he remembers is a dim memory, which he sketched. He doesn't know what it means. It shows Peach using the Cobalt Star against Princess Shroob, but parts of it are covered up. He woke up in Yoshi Village and was eaten by Yoob. He says that Yoshis trapped in the eggs will be reborn as monsters. Up ahead is a monster blocking the exit. Ahead is a Save Book.

The monster ahead is guarding some eggs. Toadbert tries to tell it to let the eggs go, forgetting that Toads are cowardly in nature. The monster throws an egg and it cracks, revealing Baby Bowser. The battle begins. It's Sunnycide, a pun on eggs, sunny side up. You'll want to get rid of the eggs first. Cracking an egg releases a Yoshi to help push a rock on a ledge above. He'll throw the eggs at you.try to land on them. Once there are no more eggs, attack him until he makes more appear. He'll also inhale the bros to try and heal himself. Once five Yoshis are on the ledge, they'll roll the rock into him, flipping him on his back, revealing his weak spot. Cannonballers is a great Bros. Item to use. He can still attack. He'll pull a cord to turn off the lights. A Boo will appear to attack the bros. Other times when he pulls the cord, a hole will appear under the bros. Jump to avoid falling in.

After you defeat Sunnycide, the exit he was guarding opens up. Some eggs fall through, including Baby Bowser. When you're ready to go, jump down the exit. The bros land back on Yoshi Island. Some eggs and Toadbert land on Luigi's head. Yoob stops moving and you'll can't explore it anymore. Stuffwell thinks the eggs were its fuel. Toadbert takes the eggs back to the village and the bros follow.

In the village, Baby Bowser's telling the Yoshis he saved them so they'll give him Yoshi cookies as thanks. They believe him. He gobbles the cookies when the bros appear, thinking that's what they're after. His stomach hurts and he spits up the Cobalt Star shards. The Yoshis think it's magic. The shards smack him far away. Stuffwell had no idea they could do that. Toadbert explains the bros helped the Yoshis, who jump for joy. The bros return to the present.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Superstar Road-8 -- Pendulum Castle

This is a treacherous castle. Spike balls on spike chains are everywhere and there are Bony Beetles to deal with as well. Many platforms are donut lifts, so you can't stand still in many places. The Ice Flower or the P-Acorn are incredibly helpful here. Take your time and learn the timing of everything, and get rid of as many Bony Beetles as you need to. You can use the Ice Flower to get rid of them, or, if they're on donut lifts, stomp them, then stand on the donut lift it's resting on to make it drop. The first Star Coin is under a set of donut lifts in a series of ball and chains. Stand on one donut lift to make it drop, then jump to safety once you get the Star Coin. Or, you can use a P-Acorn and avoid the ball and chains all together. At the end of that series of donut lifts is a gap in the ceiling. Wall jump up and you'll find a hidden pipe to the right. It leads to the second Star Coin. You will want the Ice Flower to attempt to get this Star Coin. It's in the path of the chains of three spike balls that swing together. Below is a pit of Bony Beetles. Drop down and freeze and destroy all Bony Beetles. Wall jump up the right side and get the Starman in the item block, then jump for the Star Coin. Return to the main level and use your invincibility to clear through more enemies. From the pipe to the main level, there is a spike ball swinging on the other side of a gap of donut lifts. Jump to the other side when the spike ball is swinging to the right and run past it. There's an item block with a power-up nearby. Dodge some more spike balls and Bony Beetles with good timing. Ahead are single donut lifts below a giant spike ball. You'll want to proceed when the spike ball is on the left. Move quickly. Ahead is another giant spike ball near a ? Switch. The ? Switch provides temporary platforms so you can cross the gap, and get the third Star Coin in the right corner, near the pipe. Timing is crucial here. If you can't quite get the timing right, use a P-Acorn. Drop down when the spike ball starts swinging to the right and boost repeatedly to the right wall, then boost to the Star Coin when the spike ball swings to the left. The pipe takes you to the flagpole. Thankfully, this castle has no boss to fight. There are donut lifts to the flagpole, but be sure to jump. Otherwise, when the donut lifts form stairs, you'll run right through them. This opens the path to a Mushroom House.

Once you collect all of the Star Coins in Superstar Road, you unlock a bonus level, Superstar Road-9. You get a message: "The final course is now available! A fourth star has been added to your file!" And you thought you were done.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Peach's Castle-2 -- Magma-River Cruise

This level involves riding a raft in the lava. The raft has a number on it, and it drops by one for each enemy that is on the raft. Once the number drops to zero, the raft stops. There's a poisonous fog rolling in, which encourages you to keep the raft moving and clear of enemies. To help with the enemies, you can get an Ice Flower, which can help clear the raft like a shell. There are Monty Moles that will pop out of the scenery and drop down on the raft. The first Star Coin is high over the lava. Stand on the double brick blocks with the Koopa on the left wall, then jump up for an invisible block. Stand on the block and the double brick blocks will move into place so that you can reach the first Star Coin. Next are some Microgoombas, which will affect the raft, and some Blaargs. If you can hit the high, lone brick block, you'll get a 1-up. The second Star Coin is nearby, in some bricks. You can easily reach it by hitting the P-Switch. You can reach the second Star Coin from the raft, or from above. The third Star Coin is under the red pipe at the end. Wait for the raft to float under it to get it or use a shell. Once through the pipe, jump over the lava to reach the flagpole. This opens the path to Peach's Castle-3.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Peach's Castle-1 -- Meteor Moat

Peach's Castle is a world of 5 levels. Peach is in the castle window, but we've got a way to go before we can save her. In this level, fiery meteors rain down, destroying blocks in our path. There's a moat of lava ahead, in which some platforms bob and float. The Ice Flower is in this level and can extinguish meteors. Some of the platforms will dip into the lava. One of the platforms has the first Star Coin. The midpoint is on solid ground and the second Star Coin is nearby, surrounded by brick blocks. Let the meteors break the top layer of brick blocks, then drop down to get it. Next is a large platform that rhythmically dips into the lava. There are platforms that always stay above the lava so you'll be safe. The third Star Coin is in a gap in the platform over the lava. Time your wall jumps carefully to avoid falling in. On one of the platforms with a Bony Beetle has a P-Switch. It turns coins into brick blocks, which will allow you to stay above the lava and reach an overhead pipe to the right of the large floating platform. Alternatively, you can fly using the Acorn Mushroom. This leads to the red goal. This opens the path to Peach's Castle-4. Otherwise, the regular goal is past the pipe. This opens the path to Peach's Castle-2.

New Super Mario Bros U: Meringue Clouds-4 -- Bouncy Cloud Boomerangs

Past the Parakoopas on the stairs are bouncy clouds, which move back and forth. You can get the Ice Flower here, which is helpful for dealing with enemies. Past the Piranha Plant are some clouds with Goombas bouncing on them. You'll soon see a set of four green pipes. The gap between two of them has the first Star Coin, shrouded by fog. Be careful, as there is a Boomerang Bro just ahead. It's standing on some blocks, one of which has a 1-up in it. Next is a line of item blocks and brick blocks. Parakoopas are bouncing around in the area and there are Piranha Plants and bouncy clouds below. Find a brick block you can break through to reach the clouds below. Around where the two clouds meet is a brick block with a vine. This leads to the second Star Coin. Use the POW Block to knock it out of the sky and it will bounce on the clouds below, where you can get it. Return to the main level using the green pipe. After that is a pipe making infinite Goombas, as well as a Red Coin Ring over bouncy clouds. Past the midpoint is another Boomerang Bro, with the third Star Coin nearby. There's a cannon hidden to the left of a low Piranha Plant next to a cliff. Next is a set of bouncy clouds with a couple of Goombas and some blocks. The brick block over the higher cloud has a Starman, so you can breeze past the Piranha Plants with ease. There's another Starman in the next item block if you still have the power. Just past the Piranha Plants is the flagpole. This opens the path to Meringue Clouds-6.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Soda Jungle- Castle -- Iggy's Volcanic Castle

In this castle are continuous waves of lava. We get the Ice Flower so we can freeze enemies, but the lava will thaw them out if it touches them. Some parts of the floor move vertically, so be careful. The first Star Coin is under a ledge near the lava. Freeze a Dry Bones, and, with good timing, slide it into the coin, making sure the Dry Bones doesn't hit the lava before it hits the Star Coin. After the midpoint is a Red Coin Ring. Overhead is a pipe. Bounce off of the Dry Bones or freeze it to reach it, then use the POW Block inside to make the second Star Coin and some coins drop down. Go through the yellow pipe. Go past some Podoboos and you'll find a green pipe in the lava just before the boss door. The third Star Coin is over a giant Dry Bones in the lava. Bounce off it to get the Star Coin. Once through the boss door, take the cannon to Iggy's Airship. His Airship has lava below the floor. Iggy goes through the pipes in the room, then throws three fireballs: two green ones, one red one. The red one becomes a Blaarg once it hits the lava. Dodge the Blaarg and Iggy will drop down so you can hit him. His shell cycle is longer than the other Koopalings so far because he goes through the lower pipes. Hit him before he can start moving around to finish him quickly. Once he's defeated, the path to the Rock-Candy Mines opens up.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Soda Jungle-5 -- Deepsea Ruins

This level has water that's safe to swim in. There's an Ice Flower as well as a Fishbone outside, amongst the Stone Eyes. Platform on the Stone Eyes and dodge the Boo ring, then drop in the water between the Stone Eyes facing each other for the first Star Coin. At the end is a pipe that leads to a dark underwater area. You can't see much, so proceed cautiously and leave the light-up jellyfish alone. There are some lights in the water, one of which is in a Boo Ring. This is a vertical level, so you'll be swimming to the top of the level. After the ring of Boos is a Red Coin Ring. At the top of this part is a pipe to the next area, which has the midpoint. There are glowfish in this area, so leave them alone. You'll need all the light you can get. A little higher in the level, on the right side, is an item block with a Starman. This will light up the entire level, so use its power wisely and make some serious progress. The second Star Coin is in the center of a ring of Boos. As you get closer to the top, the Stone Eyes on the walls will start to move. Wait for the top Stone Eye to move into place so you can reach the pipe at the top. This will take you to the regular goal. This opens a path that double back to the path between here and the Ghost House, like the path for Soda Jungle-4. If you return to the level, at the top near the pipe to the regular goal, go over that last Stone Eye and to the right for the third Star Coin, as well as a pipe to the red goal. This opens the path out of this part of the jungle, through the courtyard of Boos, to Soda Jungle-6 and -7. (To get through the courtyard, memorize which traps doors the Boos go into, then avoid them on the path out of there.)

New Super Mario Bros. U: Soda Jungle-3 -- Bramball Woods

The Bramballs return in these darker woods. You can see, but the background is darker. Approaching several of the Bramballs in the level will make blocks appear so they can move around. Like the Pokeys, the Bramballs can turn into fruit, but Yoshi isn't around to take advantage of that. There's an invisible block with a 1-up near the item block with the Fire Flower. The first Star Coin is over the void, between two sets of brick blocks. Wall jump to get it. The Ice Flower can freeze the Bramballs, which is handy. Nearby is a part of the level that has multiple tiers. Run on the second tier from the top to the right to a hidden area with the second Star Coin. Soon, you'll reach the midpoint. Go past the Walking Piranhas and you'll reach some donut lifts. There's a Green Ring, as well as the third Star Coin below. To get the Star Coin, stand on the donut lift and let it drop, then jump to safety once you have it. At the end, you'll see a mini pipe, as well as a regular pipe. The regular pipe is at the bottom of the level, guarded by Bramballs. This leads to the flag, which opens the path to the Mushroom House and the Fort.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Frosted Glacier- Castle -- Wendy's Shifting Castle

This castle is filled with platforms that are connected at 90 degree angles, that rotate from a post. This makes jumping to other posts easier or harder, depending on what part of the platform is level with the floor. Get an Ice Flower and prepare to dodge the Thwomps. Making a comeback in this game are the Thwimps, smaller versions of Thwomps. You'll come across a long line of Thwomps you'll have to quickly run under. Behind the last Thwomp is the first Star Coin. After that is the midpoint. Next are more Thwimps and 90 degree platforms. You'll drop down under the second set of brick blocks to a hidden area with coins. Over that same set of brick blocks is an invisible block and a pipe. Carefully climb up to the pipe. It will take you to a room with Thwimps and the second Star Coin. Time the Thwimps' movements and carefully get the Star Coin. When you return to the main level, on the right side of one of the pillars with the 90 degree platforms is a green pipe. You'll find a set of infinite platforms moving up or down. You'll find the third Star Coin behind the giant Thwomp. Return to the main level and you'll find another set of Thwomps. There are coins to guide your jumping. This will lead you to the boss door. There's a Fire Flower in an invisible block on the right wall. Once through the door, use the cannon to blast to the Airship. Inside, the floor is filled with ice and Wendy O. Koopa is on ice skates. She skates around and makes rings appear. Stomp her and she spins around in her shell. Stomp her three times to defeat her. The path to the Soda Jungle opens up. We have all the Star Coins in Frosted Glacier.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Frosted Glacier- Fliprus -- Fliprus Lake

The Fliprus is a walrus that likes to throw snowballs. You can freeze them with the Ice Flower, but you can't pick them up. The level has lots of water with crates floating in it. If you stand on the crates for a while, they briefly sink, then spring up, allowing you to reach new heights. There are floating Piranha Plants in the water with spike balls, so be careful when jumping over gaps. The first Star Coin is over the red Koopa on the moving brick blocks. Take the yellow platform up to a green pipe where you'll find the second Star Coin guarded by two Flipruses. Freeze them, then pound them to get rid of them. Under a ledge to the right of some crates is a 1-up in a brick block. In the water is a stack of three crates. Spring up from it and go right for the third Star Coin, which is hidden. Deal with the crates and Flipruses to reach the flagpole. This opens a path to a railroad with a bone coaster to the Rock-Candy Mines.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Frosted Glacier-2 -- Cooligan Fields

On the way to the level, we pick up Baby Blue Yoshi, which blows bubbles that turns enemies into coins or power-ups. The level is covered in ice, so moving around is difficult. Go under the blocks for the first Star Coin. Cooligans are all over the level and they're a little difficult to deal with, as they take two hits to defeat. Use the Ice Flower to freeze them. There's a Red Coin Ring past the midpoint. There's a 1-up in an invisible block on the platform next to the area with some pipes. There's an area between two pipes coming down from above. There's a Cooligan as well as coins in the area. Wall jump up between the pipes for the second Star Coin. There are ice pillars ahead. Go down the platforms and bounce off a Cooligan to reach a platform, then hop up the brick blocks to the third Star Coin. There are a lot of Cooligans on the way to the flagpole. This opens the path to the Fort.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Sparkling Waters- Castle -- Larry's Torpedo Castle

This level features Torpedo Teds in the water, which are similar to Bullet Bills. It also has jet engines spewing flames. There are moving grates which allow to you stay out of the water. Wall jump up when the jet engines are not firing for the first Star Coin. Go up and over the ceiling to a pipe that takes you underwater. Torpedo Teds can't freeze, so just avoid them. You'll soon reach the midpoint. Keep going right, go down behind a grate, and go left for the second Star Coin. Go up the first green pipe where you'll find coins, Red Coins, and more grates. One of the grates moves vertically. Climb on it and jump when it reaches the ceiling to get the third Star Coin, which is hidden. Dodge the jet engines and you'll eventually reach the boss door. There's a Fire Flower on the right wall in an invisible block. Take the cannon to the Airship. Larry's Airship has waterspouts, which can make stomping him difficult. They also affect his movement while he's in his shell. Use the waterspouts to your advantage and stomp him three times to defeat him. His Airship crashes. We have all of the Star Coins in Sparkling Waters. This opens the path to the Soda Jungle, but be careful if you go forward. There's another special level just ahead.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Sparkling Waters-1 -- Waterspout Beach

Sparkling Waters is a tropical beach world. This level features waterspouts, which are similar to the pillars of sand in Layer-Cake Desert. Also in the level are crabs that throw rocks. Go under the first waterspout and to the right for some coins. Dodge the Cheep-Cheep and Piranhas in the level. There are three waterspouts next to each other. Use them to reach the first Star Coin. Get the Ice Flower and use it to freeze a crab, which you can throw at a waterspout to get the second Star Coin. Alternatively, you can run and jump to get it while the waterspout is rising. Soon after, you'll find a Red Coin Ring. The Red Coins will appear down the path of the waterspouts. The midpoint is nearby. There is a pipe between two waterspouts, which leads to an underwater area. The coins appear in bubbles and there's a 1-up in the clam. Once you return to the main level, look for a POW Block. Use it to make the third Star Coin appear over a waterspout. Use the waterspouts to platform over the Piranha Plant to the flagpole. This opens the path to Sparkling Waters-2.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Layer-Cake Desert- Castle -- Morton's Compactor Castle

This castle features moving stones over large pits of lava. The stones have the potential to crush you, so be careful. The first Star Coin is over the lava. Drop down to the stone below it and jump to get it. You'll soon come across a red pipe. Go up and over the pipe by wall jumping for a pipe to the second Star Coin. Back in the main level, there's a mini gap with some coins. After dealing with some more stones, you'll reach the midpoint. The third Star Coin is also over the lava. Drop down and ride the platform under the blocks to ge ti and transfer to the next platform. There's a Green Ring nearby. If you have an Ice Flower, freeze the Dry Bones on the floor near the Podoboos and slide it into them for a 1-up. Next is a set of blocks that will form compartments for you to stand it, so watch them carefully. If you go over the ceiling and to the left, you'll find some more coins. The boss door is to the right. Take the cannon to the Airship. Morton Koopa Jr. has a hammer, which makes a giant Pokey appear when he uses it. The Pokey will prevent you from attacking Morton and will throw its segments at you. Jump to dodge them. Once the Pokey is gone, attack Morton. Try to stomp him immediately after he comes out of his shell so you don't have to deal with more Pokeys. After you defeat him, his Airship crashes. We have all of the Star Coins in Layer-Cake Desert. The path opens up to two new worlds: Sparkling Waters and Frosted Glacier. I'll be going to Sparkling Waters first.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Layer-Cake Desert-6 -- Blooming Lakitus

Lakitus are flying overhead in this level and you'll want to take their clouds. Grab the Ice Flower in the item block over the palm tree. The lower part of the level features spinning stones, like the rolling hills in Acorn Plains. The Lakitus don't throw Spinies, but rather Piranha Plants. Grab the Lakitu's cloud and fly high into the sky. The lone brick block in the sky has a 1-up. The first Star Coin is above the spinning stones and some blocks. There are spinning coin rings in the air nearby. Around the time the cloud disappears, you'll be close to the midpoint. There's a Red Coin Ring near some giant Piranhas. Over the spinning stones past the Red Coins is a pipe to the second Star Coin. It's to the right of the POW Block. The third Star Coin is at ground level surrounded by Piranhas. Use a Koopa shell to get it. From there, it's not far to the flag. This opens the path to the castle.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Layer-Cake Desert-4 -- Spike's Spouting Sands

This level has lots of Spikes throwing spike balls and pillars of sand that rise from the void to give you a boost. Some of the Spikes are on item blocks. The Ice Flower is available here, so freeze the Spikes if you need to. Under a bridge and between two sand pillars is the first Star Coin. Go under the bridge and use the sand pillars to reach it. Soon after, you'll see three Red Koopas on flying item blocks. Nearby is a flying item block over a sand pillar. Hit it to make a vine appear. This will take you to the second Star Coin. The Star Coin is next to the right wall. There are shifting blocks that expand into a line and contract back into a single block. They will expand to form stairs so you can reach the Star Coin. Return to the main level and you'll soon come across the midpoint. Past the midpoint, you can go behind the small Stone Eyes. Some of them have invisible areas with pipes in them. Take the pipe down and you'll find an item block with a Mini Mushroom. Run up the walls into the pipe to the right. Keep running and you'll get the third Star Coin which is below the area you could normally reach. Keep going and you'll reach the flag. This opens the path to Layer-Cake Desert-6.

Another Stone Eye has a hidden pipe. This Stone Eye is the one past the midpoint and the pit with the Spikes with the arrow sign nearby. The pipe is a cannon that takes you to the red goal. This opens the path to Layer-Cake Desert-Ice.
