Captain Toad finds himself on a rocky path in lava. There are Blaargs and boost pads here. Try to collect as many coins as you can. Move the fans to create a path across the lava, then step on the first boost pad. There are several coins ahead, but all you have to do is run straight down the middle to get all of them. Turn left and go up the ramp for the first gem. Drop down for some more coins, then continue on. The path splits again so you can get more coins. The turns are tight, so pay attention. Ahead, move the fans for a direct path over the lava to the second gem. Loop back around for the other coins. The path splits again to a clear pipe cannon. Launch and pick the plant for a 1-up. Move the fans to create a path to the third gem and another clear pipe. This will launch you back to the main path. There are more Blaargs here as well as boost pads. At one point, the path forms a circle. You do not need to collect all of the coins around the circle. The path ahead is a straight shot to the Star.
Special Challenge: Collect 150 coins.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker -- Episode 3-1. Rolling Inferno
Captain Toad is searching for Toadette. He fell asleep in a cave. There's a nearby hidden plant with many coins. Climb the ladder and walk to the Star. Feathers appear and Wingo takes the Star, with Toadette.
This level has many rolling areas over lava as well as Blaargs that periodically jump out of the lava. Cross over the green roll to a grate, then over a thin green roll to an area with some coins. Use the large green roll to drop down to a fan. Walk under another large green roll to the first gem. Use the fan to reach a higher level. Go across the three green rolls to reach the second gem. From the middle green row of the set, drop down onto the fan and use it to reach a lower platform with the third gem. It's towards the back, past a grate that a Blaarg goes through. Use the fan to reach the grate near the Star, then get the Star.
Special Challenge: Collect 75 coins.

Super Mario 3D World: Castle-7 -- Simmering Lava Lake
The lava level rises and falls here. The only platforms that are safe at all times are the green ones and the platforms higher than them. Grab the Boomerang Flower, which makes dealing with the Para Dry Bones easier. Some lava balls that trail lava will appear on some of the platforms, so don't let them corner you. The first Green Star is over the lava near where the lava balls appear. Use a boomerang to get it. Go forward, where there's a dip in the path and you'll come across a Green Ring. The Green Coins will get you the second Green Star. There's a clear pipe at the end of the path that will take you past some Blaargs to the midpoint.
There are lava pillars in you path in this area. You'll find the stamp under a grate. Use a boomerang to get it when the lava is low, or, if you're gutsy, run for it. Go ahead and to the right to an island in the lava for the third Green Star. A path will appear when the lava level lowers. Go back to the main path and run past the Magmaws arcing over the path to flag. A lava pillar will appear through the grate in front of the flagpole.
The stamp is of a Boomerang Flower.

New Super Luigi U: Peach's Castle-2 -- Magmaw River Cruise
This level features the raft that only allows a certain amount of enemies on board before it stops. There's a miasma rolling in, so you have to keep the raft moving. Dodge the Blaaargs in the lava and get the first Star Coin on the left ledge. The second Star Coin is over the lava, so use a shell to get it. The third Star Coin is with a Fire Bro. At the end of the ride, there are expanding blocks as well as a Fire Bro on the path to the flag.

New Super Luigi U: Soda Jungle- Castle -- Iggy's Swinging-Chains Castle
Iggy's castle has waves of lava, which make good timing a necessity. To cross some of the large gaps, you'll have to swing from chains. The first Star Coin is near the end of one chain. Slide down the chain slowly to get it, and climb back up to avoid the lava. Ahead are some platforms. Over the set of three brick blocks is an invisible block with a 1-up. Keep going and you'll see a Green Ring. Towards the end you'll see some solid floor in front of a giant Dry Bones. Drop down on the right side of the floor when the lava's not there, then walk to the left. The second Star Coin is hidden here. The third Star Coin is over the giant Dry Bones. Nearby is the boss door.
Iggy will send three flames at you. Any flame that is red will turn into a Blaarg in the lava below and chase you. Iggy will use the pipes on the sides of the walls to go on the ceiling and move around during his shell cycle. Try to stomp him as soon as he gets out of his shell cycle. Stomp him three times to win. With that, you have all of the Star Coins in the Soda Jungle.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Peach's Castle-2 -- Magma-River Cruise
This level involves riding a raft in the lava. The raft has a number on it, and it drops by one for each enemy that is on the raft. Once the number drops to zero, the raft stops. There's a poisonous fog rolling in, which encourages you to keep the raft moving and clear of enemies. To help with the enemies, you can get an Ice Flower, which can help clear the raft like a shell. There are Monty Moles that will pop out of the scenery and drop down on the raft. The first Star Coin is high over the lava. Stand on the double brick blocks with the Koopa on the left wall, then jump up for an invisible block. Stand on the block and the double brick blocks will move into place so that you can reach the first Star Coin. Next are some Microgoombas, which will affect the raft, and some Blaargs. If you can hit the high, lone brick block, you'll get a 1-up. The second Star Coin is nearby, in some bricks. You can easily reach it by hitting the P-Switch. You can reach the second Star Coin from the raft, or from above. The third Star Coin is under the red pipe at the end. Wait for the raft to float under it to get it or use a shell. Once through the pipe, jump over the lava to reach the flagpole. This opens the path to Peach's Castle-3.

New Super Mario Bros. U: Soda Jungle- Castle -- Iggy's Volcanic Castle
In this castle are continuous waves of lava. We get the Ice Flower so we can freeze enemies, but the lava will thaw them out if it touches them. Some parts of the floor move vertically, so be careful. The first Star Coin is under a ledge near the lava. Freeze a Dry Bones, and, with good timing, slide it into the coin, making sure the Dry Bones doesn't hit the lava before it hits the Star Coin. After the midpoint is a Red Coin Ring. Overhead is a pipe. Bounce off of the Dry Bones or freeze it to reach it, then use the POW Block inside to make the second Star Coin and some coins drop down. Go through the yellow pipe. Go past some Podoboos and you'll find a green pipe in the lava just before the boss door. The third Star Coin is over a giant Dry Bones in the lava. Bounce off it to get the Star Coin. Once through the boss door, take the cannon to Iggy's Airship. His Airship has lava below the floor. Iggy goes through the pipes in the room, then throws three fireballs: two green ones, one red one. The red one becomes a Blaarg once it hits the lava. Dodge the Blaarg and Iggy will drop down so you can hit him. His shell cycle is longer than the other Koopalings so far because he goes through the lower pipes. Hit him before he can start moving around to finish him quickly. Once he's defeated, the path to the Rock-Candy Mines opens up.

Super Mario 3D Land: S8- Bowser's Castle
We need 290 Star Coins to unlock this level. We have 30 seconds to start. We'll get clocks from Hammer Bros. We hit the P-Switch for a bridge. At the end of the path is a Mystery Box in between two lava pillars. Jump carefully. Next is a green arrow platform we take while avoiding Blaargs. Over the long item block is the first Star Coin. We hit a P-Switch to make a platform rise up to the level of three Hammer Bros. We find the second Star Coin here. At the end of the purple path are appearing platforms to a Mystery Box that takes you to stones rolling in the lava. Dry Bowser appears. We reach Dry Bowser, who makes shockwaves when he lands. These shockwaves will also take out the Hammer Bros it reaches. The third Star Coin is in a corner before the switch. We reach the switch and Dry Bowser falls in. Past the gate, we warp to the flagpole, where we get a 1-up.
We see a picture floating down from the sky. The Tanooki Toads look at it and freak out. Bowser's got Peach in a cage again. Let's remedy the situation!
For some reason, we find ourselves at regular World 8's Bowser Castle. We still have all of the Star Coins, but the level is incomplete.

Super Mario 3D Land: 8- Bowser's Castle
We need 90 Star Coins to unlock this level. Thankfully, we have 140. It has a similar exterior to those in New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. We hear Bowser's laugh. We hit the P-Switch for a bridge across the lava and dodge Magikoopas. We cross the next bridge quickly, as a Blaaarg approaches. We hop from one pole to the next, avoiding lava pillars. We slide down the second pole for the first Star Coin, which is towards the screen. You don't have to jump to get it. I fell in the lava and died.
Take 2- I died from a fire bar beyond the second pole.
Take 3- I fell in the lava.
Take 4- See Take 3.
Take 5- See Take 3.
Take 6- The gold block appears. We pass the fire bar and take a tilting green platform on a track past lots of approaching Blaaargs. They'll keep going, so it's okay to stop. We reach the midpoint at the end. We hit a P-Switch to raise the stone we're standing on to the level of three Boomerang Bros. We take all of them out for a Boomerang Flower and use our boomerang to get the second Star Coin in the gap. We use the binoculars to see the castle at the end, as well as Peach. We approach the end of the purple path on the floor to make platforms appear to the orange Mystery Box. Bowser appears, with a normal tail, and roars. We have to cross the lava over the rotating stones. I got the third Star Coin with my boomerang and fell into the lava.
Take 7- We got the last two Star Coins and fell in the lava.
Take 8- See Take 7.
Take 9- I got the last two Star Coins and made it to Bowser. I made it to the wooden bridge, but fell in.
Take 10- I got the last two Star Coins and made it past Bowser to the switch. He fell into the lava, surfacing a few times before sinking. A little skull cloud appeared above the lava. The gate opened. We walk inside and find the cage Peach was in on the floor. At the end, we find stairs. The door at the top opens and we find Peach. Rather, we find a cutout of Peach. Bowser appears again, holding the real Peach. She yells, "Mario!" Bowser jumps off the castle and flies away with her. Mario shakes his head and says, "Oh, Mamma Mia!" There's an orange Mystery Box that takes us to the flagpole and a clock. We get a 1-up. Mario runs off. We then discover there's more to World 8 than we previously thought.

Melty Monster Galaxy - Green Star 1
Welcome Back to the Galaxy!
This is a similar challenge to Shiverburn's Green Star 1. The Star is near the Launch Star over one of the lava planets. At first, I couldn't use the Pulls Stars well and died from the Blaargs.
Take 2- I fell in the lava and died from Blaargs.
Take 3- See Take 2.
Take 4- See Take 2. I almost had it that time.
Take 5- I got a Life Shroom near the lower set of Blaargs and died in the lava.
Take 6- I got the Star this time. I used the top Pull Star to get it, carefully using it to get momentum. This is a Star of all Types.
Green Star Get #115!
Star Get #235, 7515 Star Bits, 10 Lives

Melty Monster Galaxy - The Magnificent Magma Sea
Welcome Back to the Galaxy!
This galaxy's name sounds a whole lot like Melty Molten from Galaxy. There is an equally large amount of lava here, but the music is different. It sounds like a grand adventure, like Indiana Jones. This is one of the times the power of the orchestra comes through. Also thrown in are the 6 notes that let you know you're playing Galaxy. We land on a platform and see several Blaargs on lava spheres. They will come up periodically to gobble whatever's in their path. We must use Pull Stars to cross over the spheres and dodge the Blaargs. There was some difficulty reaching the Launch Star, but we make it, launching two times before reaching the midgate. There is a lava wave pool with Podoboos. I take a hit from a Podoboo and die from the lava.
Take 2- I take two hits from the lava. The lower platforms will be covered in lava once a wave comes. I get a much needed Life Shroom between some flagpoles. We go across all of the platforms and flagpoles. I take a hit from a Podoboo. We have to go across rotating platforms and dodge a Blaarg. We trip the midgate and see tornadoes. Tornadoes were in Dusty Dunes Galaxy in Galaxy, so we can savely travel with them and spin to fly away like a helicopter. We reach a swing which helps us reach the Launch Star.
We launch to a new area with several spheres. There are several lava monsters marching around the planet. They pass through the spheres, so we have to time our crossing. The Comet Medal is on a sphere. The unsafe spheres are scorched black and the safe ones are stone gray. I take a hit from a monster on a gray sphere because I was on the edge and in its path. We reach the Star trapped in crystal near the end, free it, and it flies to another sphere. I take another hit from a monster and it knocks me onto the sphere the Star is one. The monsters also drown out the "Star is free" music.
Star Get #59, 34 Comet Medals, 388 Star Bits, 1308 Coins, 11 Lives
Interlude
A Comet appears in Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker. Lubba mentions we have another hungry mouth to feed. He hopes we know what we're doing. Another dice Luma appears in the green pipe in the Faceship's left ear. He wants 100 Coins for 5 dice spins. While on the deck, we can see and hear objects rushing into the black hole.

Fleet Glide Galaxy - Fluzzard's Wild Battlefield Glide
Welcome Back to the Galaxy!
We land on an abandoned rocket to find Fluzzard and 2 Jibberjays. The same pre-King Lakitu music is playing. One Jibberjay says that we must fly through all 5 gates to get the Comet Medal. Another says that Fluzzard says we're okay and he'll glide with us. Through this rocket. Fluzzard, you've become so bold so quickly! When did that happen? I guess Mario brought out the best in him. We first have to dodge some Blaargs-actually, just one. (There are more, but they're out of the way.) I miss the Life Shroom and fly into a circular platform. The music is adventurous, Indiana Jones escapes from certain death, style.
Take 2- I made it through the first gate, but took hits on the side walls and ceiling. I took the straight route into a hallway where we see Thwomps and Banzai Bills. I hit the floor and died.
Take 3- We made it to the end, dodging falling columns and debris, and a slowly closing door. We flew over Airships to the Sun Gate.
Star Get #55, 24 Star Bits, 24 Lives
A Comet appears in Slipsand Galaxy. It took me 24 more tries to get the Comet Medal. On the 23rd take, I cleared all 5 gates, but missed the Medal. I also had some difficulty finding the 2nd gate, because it is not in the line of sight. We found it past the first 1-up by rotating around the rocket, because that area is open. This is one of the last things I did before getting 120 Stars.
