Bunnies of the Castle Part 3

Nintendo DS
Now that we can explore the entire castle, we can now find almost all of the bunnies.

Yoshi
  • lThere is a bunny in the drained moat, near the door to the pillars.
  • A bunny is hiding outside the castle near the hedges.Yoshi's bunny in the drained moat says something different. "Aaaargh! Oh no, please don't eat me. It's a fact that Goombas taste much better. I'll give you something nice in return if you let me go. You'd take that, right?" After you spit him out, he says "Ayieeeeeeeeeee! I almost had a heart attack! Here, take the key and go. I'm just going to sit here until my heart stops racing." And "C'mon, help a bunny out. I promise not to pull any pranks... ...For now." If you catch him again, he says "I already gave you the key a little while ago. Get it straight! I'm not your food!" Then, "You liar! You promised not to eat me... Are you really that hungry?"

Mario

  • A bunny is in the drained moat, near the front ramp and the Secret Under the Moat.
  • There is a bunny on the stairs to the third floor.
  • Another bunny is in the Snowman's Land room.
  • There is a bunny on the grass, by the fence, near the waterfall.

Luigi

  • One bunny hides in the hedges outside the castle.
  • There is a bunny in water remaining in the drained tunnel to the pillars.
  • There is one wandering on the second floor, just outside the door.
  • The last one is on top of the castle roof, accessible only by the cannon that opens when you get all 150 Stars and beat Bowser.

Wario (brown bunnies)

  • There is a bunny near the trees, by the castle. (On the side without the waterfall, towards the back).
  • A bunny is in Whomp's Fortress's room.
  • Another bunny is the back of the courtyard with the Boos.
  • There is a bunny near the Toad in the basement, in the area with Lethal Lava Land.
  • Another bunny is in the Tiny-Huge Island room.
  • A bunny is immediately on the other side of the Star Door on the third floor (when coming from the second floor).
  • Another bunny is in the window to Over the Rainbows.

When Wario catches a bunny, it says "How'd you catch up to me with those stubby legs?! Do I have to call you boss from now on? If you put me down, I'll give you this key. Here!"

If you catch him again, he says "Not bad, "boss." How do you run so fast with those stubby legs? Guess you can't judge a book by its cover, huh."

If he catches a shiny white bunny, it will say the same thing it said to Mario and Luigi.

Now we must catch the remaining shiny white bunnies. We're going to use Yoshi for this as six of his bunnies appear on the castle grounds, increasing our chances of finding one. Multiple white bunnies may appear on the castle grounds at the same time.

When we find the last of the white bunnies, it will be a little faster. He'll say "Waaaah! Wait, wait! I ain't no good for eatin'! It's true! I'm sure my younger brothers would taste better! It's true! If you're feelin' peckish, sink your molars into one o' them! Just lemme go! You will...right?" and "Yaaargh! You caught my brothers AND me?! That ain't right! That tongue of yours sure is something! You need to teach me that trick sometime! So, anyway, I guess I owe youthat key I've got. Here!" if you're Yoshi.
If you get the last bunny as Mario, Luigi, or Wario, it will say "Owowow! Watch it, buddy! I can't believe you caught my brothers AND me... I'm the fastest one in my family! You must be some big deal, huh? Fine, then. You can have this key I found... Here!"

You get a star key, like the ones the regular bunnies give you. You got the key to the empty room! Do you want to save your progress? Yes/ No

We can now open the door with the white border and mat in the room with the secret slide and the character doors. The door will be unlocked, your character will go in, some rustling will be heard, and your character will exit with a Star.

Tiny-Huge Island - Five Itty Bitty Secrets

N64
As the title suggests, the island must be small. We must be large relative to the island. The five secrets are hidden in the "holes" on the island. You can get them in any order. The secrets are hidden in the doorway-like hole where you started, the hole where the metal balls come from, the top of the mountain (ground-pound it), the hole to the cannon, and the hole to the cave. The Star appears on the floating island away from the island. Near the Piranha Plant is a switch that creates a bridge to the floating island.
Star Get #101, 13 Coins, 6 Lives

Tall, Tall Mountain - 5 Secrets of the Mountain

This mission is unique to the Nintendo DS.
I mentioned coins in the sky when I got 100 Coins on this course. The coins in the sky are arranged in rings, just like in Mario Wings to the Sky. To reach the top of the mountain faster, I decided to chase Hoo out of the tree near where we started. He took us to the top of the mountain quickly. I got the Wing Cap and started flying to get the coins in the center of the rings. I got two on my first pass and decided to recharge the Wing Cap. I got the last three on my second pass. You can get them in any order. The Star appears on the peak.

Wet-Dry World - (5) Secrets in the Shallows and Sky

N64
It's time to find more secrets! This time, we aren't looking for particular coins. Moving certain objects will make the numbers appear. I also decided to get 100 Coins in this mission. I got the coins from item blocks, a Blue Coin Switch, water striders, brick blocks, and the purple enemy at the top of the level. (Pick him up and throw him for the coins.) I decided to work from the bottom of the course to the top, so I drained all the water using the diamond under the long ramp. Behind the tall platform where we found the Shocking Arrow Lifts! Star is a crate that we need to push to find the first secret. We need to push the crate so we can open the item block for the second secret. On the same level as the Blue Coin Switch, there is another crate in a hole in the wall. Pushing that crate deeper into the wall reveals the third secret. On the same level is a switch that makes stairs to the top of the cage. Above the cage is an item block with the 4th secret. The 5th secret is in the item block above the circular platform the Amp is circling. The platform is surrounded by coins. At this point, we have over 100 coins.
Star Get #85, 104 Coins, 4 Lives
The Star appears over the bridge.
Star Get #86, 104 Coins, 6 Lives

Nintendo DS
The secrets are in the same locations as in the N64 version. I got 100 coins in this mission as in the N64, but not using the coins from the purple enemy. On the top level where the purple enemy is, the Bob-omb Buddy that opens the cannon stands. We opened the cannon, as we will need it in future missions. As I got the 5th secret, I got 100 Coins.
Star Get #106, 100 Coins, 4 Lives
The Star appears on the bridge.
Star Get #107, 100 Coins, 6 Lives
The 5 in the parentheses in the title is because the number is included in the Nintendo DS mission title, but not in the N64 mission title.
The next Star is Express Elevator -- Hurry Up!

Cool, Cool Mountain - Slip Slidin' Away

Cool, Cool Mountain is the fourth course.
N64
We find ourselves in a room with three paintings of snowmen. We go through the middle one. When we land on this wintery floating island, we get a message: "Snow Mountain Summit Watch for slippery conditions! Please enter the cttage first." We check out the sign near the cottage which says "Santa Claus isn't the only one who can go down a chimney! Come on in -- Cabin Proprietor"
We climb in through the chimney. Inside is an enormous slide and the sliding music starts playing. We start sliding and go through the secret passageway near the first wall marked with a line of coins going into it. We hear a chime and get a 1-up on the way. We land on the ledge in the cabin at the base of the mountain. There is an item block with a 1-up on the ledge. We go out the door and the Star appears.
Star Get #23, 16 Coins, 11 Lives
I later came back to get 100 Coins. I got them by getting most of the coins on the slide, which brought me 71 coins. I warped back up the mountain and slide down the slope for the remaining coins.
Star Get #29, 103 Coins, 3 Lives

Nintendo DS
We're going to get the 100 Coin Star in this mission. We get the same message upon entering. But first, we're going to slide down the mountain first for coins. I got a couple of Red Coins and took three hits from snowmen and a Goomba. I then warped to the top of the mountain so we could enter the cabin. The sign says "Welcome to the slide! Hop on and take a ride! When sliding in Standard Mode, press Up on the (Control Pad) to accelerate. to decelerate, press Down on (Control Pad). Use the Touch Screen to turn more smoothly than the (Control Pad). The slide music starts playing and we start sliding. I fell off the slide.
Take 2- I decide to go down the slide first. I reach the end with 77 coins. I left the cabin and the Star appeared. I took a couple of hits from Goombas. I still need 100 Coins, so I warped to the top. I got the 100 Coin Star at the bottom of the mountain slide.
Star Get #26, 101 Coins, 3 Lives
I returned to the base of the mountain for the mission Star.
Star Get #27, 101 Coins, 5 Lives
The next Star is Li'l Penguin Lost.

Bob-omb Battlefield - Mario Wings to the Sky

N64
Now that we can fly, it's time to tackle this mission. I also got 100 coins here by getting Red Coins, a Blue Coin from a Koopa, and coins from Goombas and Bob-ombs. I also got a 1-up from the flower patch surrounded by coins. After I had several, I went to the highest usable cannon and blasted to the floating iale. I got the Wing Cap and hopped into the cannon on the island. From the cannon, we can see a ring of coins with a coin in the center. If we aim directly for the middle coin, we will get it, revealing a number with a special chime. This is a secret coin, which will produce a number when we discover it. There are 5 secrets total. If we aim for the first one, the updraft will take you to remaining 4 secret coins in the middle of four coin rings. You don't even have to steer. The Star appears, but I don't get it immediately, because we don't yet have 100 coins. I get more coins from the coin rings (the secret coins count as Yellow Coins), which is a little hard due to steering, the wind, and the fact that the coins will only appear when you get close to them. After I got 100 coins, a Star appeared, and I got it first.
Star Get #13, 100 Coins, 5 Lives
After I got the 100 Coin Star, I got the Star from the secret coins. You won't leave the course if you get the 100 Coin Star.
Star Get #14, 100 Coins, 7 Lives

Nintend DS
When we land in the battlefield, there are red item blocks available for our use. We attempted to get 100 Coins. The posts near the Red Coin blue Star produced 5 coins each. We took a hit from 4 Goombas, the Chomp, 2 Bob-omb and a metal ball. I got a 1-up from the flower patch and another under the bridgeto the mountain. When I reached the cannon to the floating island, I had 85 coins. Once on the island, there was a sign saying "When Mario gets Wings from a ? Block, he'll be able to fly. Perform a triple jump to take off. In Standard Mode, once Mario's in the air, press the (Control Pad) Down to ascend and press it Up to descend. Press (R) to stop flying." At least they don't make assumptions about our knowledge of planes.
We get the Wing Cap, which appears as a feather instead of a cap. we get a message: "With Wings on his cap, Mario can take to the skies! Triple jump to take off and crouch to land. In Standard Mode, press the (Control Pad) Up to descend and Down to ascend. Ready for takeoff? We jump into the cannon and aim for the center coin. Unlike the N64 version, we only get the first two secret coins this way. We collect coins from the rings, as well as the secret coins after a couple of passes and recharges. I got the 100 Coin Star first.
Star Get #18, 100 Coins, 6 Lives
After I get the 5th secret coin, the Star appears on the battlefield near the four posts where the Red Coin Star will appear.
Star Get #19, 105 Coins, 8 Lives
Now that we have Mario, the Toads will give us different messages.
The next Star we will cover is Find the 8 Red Coins.
