Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 12: Behind Castle Walls

Now that the Cobalt Star is nearly complete, talk to Gadd. He says only one piece remains. Gadd's a little stunned when Stuffwell says that the spirit of the Cobalt Star told them that they can break the barrier surrounding Peach's Castle. The time hole to Peach's Castle is on the third floor, surrounded by Peach Statues.

Approach the castle and the Cobalt Star reacts, dissolving the barrier. Past the castle gate, you'll find Shroob-enhanced enemies, like Tashroobas, which look like Tanoombas. Go north to find a statue of Princess Shroob. Throw the babies on the ledge and have them go into a dark area. Once they make their way through the maze, hit the switch to make a ! Block accessible. Hitting it forms a bridge to the east. You'll come across Snoozorbs, round, sleeping enemies. Have the babies hit the switch on the other side of the gate to open the gate. The pipe to the north takes you into the castle.

As in Gritzy Desert, the bros will have to split up to activate switches. The lasers in the castle will allow you to reach some ! Blocks. Activate lasers that are facing each other at the same time to create a beam. In the castle, you'll encounter Soul Bubbles and Shroob Rexes. You'll want to go around the castle to clear out the enemies in your way with all four bros first. After activating the first four lasers, hit the ! Block to open the door ahead. Take the pipe to the second floor.

On the second floor, you'll encounter Shroobsworths, elderly Shroobs with an Intern Shroob riding piggyback. Once you defeat the Shroobsworth, the Intern Shroob takes over. You can't go across the bridge as it's guarded by two saucers. The path across the bridge is accessible from inside the library. You'll have to roll up the stairs in under 23 seconds. There are a few obstacles in the way. At the top of the stairs, reunite the bros and save. The Shroob mother ship is docked here. Hit the switch on the floor to go inside.

When the bros go inside, the mother ship takes off. Luigi suggests controlling the ship to get rid of the other flying saucers. Four blocks will appear. The meters behind each block will stop when you hit the block, controlling the ship's altitude. Mario's block fires a beam, which also drops the ship's altitude once fired. You can fire the beam from any altitude. Saucers appear and it's time to shoot them out of the sky. Some of the saucers will move. The ship will land when you defeat all the saucers. The saucers guarding the bridge are gone, so you can keep exploring.

There are a couple of pipes in the northwest corner. The one on the right leads outside the castle so you can reach the time hole quickly. The one on the left leads to the third floor. Go south and Baby Spin to the ledge and hit the switch. This will allow the bros to Spin Jump to a ! Block, enabling the babies to hit another switch on the wall. Go back north and hit the colorful blocks. This opens a door in the Princess Shroob statue. Inside, the bros find a control room and see Peach on one of the monitors. She calls for Mario when she hears his voice. She says she's locked in a room at the top of the statue. The communication gets cut off fairly quickly. Grab the items in the room, then go through the pipe on the left. Unfortunately, a Chomp swimming in the sewers knocks the pipeline out of alignment and the bros head to the sewers.

The pipe to the west leads out of the castle. To the east, you'll find Ghoul Guys. Send the Baby Cakes through the low window in the back wall and have the bros spin the gear. The fan affected by the gear is to the far left. Go right when high up to reach a spring. It will take the babies to a switch so the four can continue to the door. Baby Spin into the tornado and follow the coins. Hit the ! Block in the room to the south to lower the draw bridge. Use the bridge to reunite the bros. Toss the babies into the trunk and load the Bros. Ball into the cannon. Fire when ready. The bros will end up on the far left. The pipe block to reunite the bros is in the upper left corner. Baby Spin to the right and activate the blocks to lower two bridges. Go north. The pipe takes you deeper into the sewers.

Go east and send the babies into the pipes. They'll run into Lethal Bob-ombs. The path will take them to the south, so they can lower the bridge for the bros. Go east twice. The first ! Block will lower the bridge and the second one will be eaten by a Chomp. It will make four blocks with stars (like in the Star Shrine) appear. The Chomp will appear from one of five pipes. Use the blocks to target the Chomp. To aim for the middle, hit the south block, then the north block. To aim for the second to the right pipe, hit the north, then left block. Hit the south and right block for the second to left block. To hit the blocks on the ends, hit the south block and the left or right block to hit the left or right pipe, respectively. After hitting the Chomp three times, all five pipes will have Chomps. The correct Chomp is chomping faster than the others. It will return the ! Block, which lowers the spikes. The pipe leads to the first floor.

Go east and hit the ! Block. This lowers the gate and exposes a grate. The bros will have to be split up. The grate will allow the babies to walk along the top of the walls. There are Ghoul Guys up here, so be careful. Send both sets of bros to the northwest corner. The babies will lower the gate with the switch and the bros can line up under the laser. The babies will return to the top of the wall and loop around the castle to the northeast corner to the other laser. This means you can take a short path through the middle of the castle or a long path along the south of the castle, which has more items. The room with the second laser to the northeast has the passageway on the wall to the northeast laser. Activate the lasers and reunite the bros. The pipe you just opened leads to the second floor on the east side.

You can access the other side of the library now. There are some items on the bookshelves. Go north to what would be Peach's room and take the pipe to the third floor, on the other side of the statue. Go east and hit the switch to lower the gate, so returning here will be easier. Go inside the statue at the top. The pipe to the left leads outside the castle. Go north, up the stairs. Stuffwell reports that the Cobalt Star is reacting very strongly now. It thanks the bros for everything they've done, but they must part ways now. It also says to look for Peach, while it looks for Princess Shroob. The Cobalt Star flies off. At the top of the stairs, Stuffwell strongly encourages the bros to save. He doesn't think the bros will be able to return after passing through the door. Hit the heal block, the Save Book. Make any preparations you want to make now.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 8: Jumping into the Volcano

In the castle garden, the Toadsworths are once again trying to entertain Baby Peach. The Toadsworth Twist is not eliciting a response. A crosswind blows them into Baby Peach and she starts spinning in the air. Luigi wants to learn the move. Just run into the babies while Spin Jumping. It shall be called the Baby Spin. Use the Control Pad to move the babies. This will allow you to reach higher heights. The Toadsworths try rolling into a ball, but Baby Peach is still not amused. Toadsworth the Younger decides to roll over Baby Princess, despite the protests of Toadsworth the Elder. This flattens her into an amused disc. Mario wants to learn this move. Roll over the babies with the Bros. Ball. The babies will be able to reach tight spaces with low ceilings. They'll pop back to normal within a short time. This move shall be called Baby Cakes. The wind picks up and carries Baby Peach, still in disc form, into a hole on a ledge of the castle. The Toadsworths ask for assistance in getting her back, saying she's not in another castle. Baby Spin over the wall, hit the switch to lower the gate, then Baby Spin to the ledge. She's to the far right.

Once you leave the garden, there's a strong rumbling. A Toad freaks out, saying, "HE'S BACK!", and mentions Peach's room. Go upstairs to Peach's room, on the east side of the castle. Bowser's in Peach's room, at it again with another kidnapping attempt. A blob of the fungus on Peach's face buds off and hits Bowser on his face. He peels it off and eats it. He belches up purple gas in the room, which makes the bros woozy. Taking advantage of the situation, he carries Peach out onto the bridge. Toadsworth the Younger rolls in with Baby Peach's castle to stop him. Bowser dodges with a jump, but breaks the bridge when he lands, falling into a time hole below. Peach falls in as well. The time hole is on the first floor in the northwest corner. Baby Spin to the time hole.

The time hole takes you to Thwomp Volcano. The bros will appear after the babies arrive. The place is made of Thwomps. The Toads with red caps are mountaineers. They mention a scientist at the peak, and how to reach interesting things in the gaps in the walls. Baby Spin to reach the ! Block and open the path ahead. Cross the rope bridge and you'll meet new enemies called Thwacks. Their color matches who they'll attack. If it turns yellow, it attacks both bros. They can also summon more enemies. Go up the ramp and either roll over the spikes or Baby Spin to the platform above. In the next area, send the Baby Cakes into the gap and have them ride the air currents. This will keep them in disc form. Send them on the upper path to hit a ! Block to within reach. Have the bros go up the ramp and across the bridge to hit it. This opens the path ahead. Send the babies forward and reunite the bros in the area with the pipe.

Tanoombas make a reappearance here. This time, they won't be impersonating the bros. Both sets of bros should spin across the spikes. In the next area, send the Baby Cakes through the hole in the wall. The air vents lead to a ! Block that moves the yellow blocks out of the way. In the next area, you'll find Red Coconutters. If you want to reach the left side of the area, send the Baby Cakes over, under each low ledge you find to keep them in disc form. In the next area, send the Baby Cakes into the hole in the wall, then spin the gear to increase the air current. You can reach items on the clouds. The cloud on the right has a ! Block that opens the path ahead. In the following area, Baby Spin or roll across the gap to reach the other side. The next area has a pipe.

Past the pipe, send the Baby Cakes into the hole in the wall and spin the gear to increase the air current. Land on the moving cloud, jumping to the other clouds, leading to a ! Block, opening a blocked path. The next area is a little foggy, but leads to the peak. At the peak, Peach's crown is on the ground. Stuffwell thinks that she and Bowser may be in the volcano. Just then, the volcano erupts, spewing flaming Thwomps. Go east, then south, then southeast. This area has a building with a familiar shape, a couple of gears, and a pipe. The pipe leads to the area near the time hole, so you can build a bridge with the ! Block. Spin the other gear to open the door to the building.

The building's a lab and inside, there's a young scientist paying no attention to the fact that four people have just walked in, even less so the eruption. Baby Mario's threat of a hammer to the head gets his attention. He's Elvin Gadd, studying the Thwomps and history of the mountain. The bros inform him that the volcano has erupted. The flaming Thwomps rain down and start destroying the lab. A particularly large Thwomp drops in and it will explode if it is not extinguished. There's a gear in the northwest corner. Spin it to get the water running and extinguish the Thwomp. This will take several drops of water. While the babies try to put out the fire, Gadd gets inspired. Gadd in the present has his memories rearranged, getting an idea to create a large water pump. Back on Thwomp Volcano, Gadd's lab is ruined. He says there's a lab at the edge of Boo Woods, so he'll relocate to do some paranormal research. He leaves, and Gadd of the present calls via Stuffwell. He's created the Hydrogush 4000, which will stop all volcanic eruptions. He'll send the water through the time hole. It looks like a cross between F.L.U.D.D. and Gadd, but it stops the eruption. Stuffwell acknowledges the paradox of what just happened, but it gets the bros into the volcano. Heal and save, then return to the peak.

At the peak are two Thwomps. The round one is particularly enraged about the doused eruption. The rectangular one was looking forward to jumping into the fiery volcano, which is one of his hobbies. Since the bros can't bring the eruption back, they'll have to battle the round Mrs. Thwomp. After she takes about 100 HP worth of damage, she'll split into four. Each will attack the bros, raising an eyebrow to indicate the target. Counter with the hammer. Three are fakes. Use Bros. Items until she's defeated. Mr. Thwomp is upset that the bros were mean to his wife. Mario explains that they're trying to save Peach, so he agrees to help them inside the volcano. Mrs. Thwomp wants to go, but Mr. Thwomp says she's too heavy. She does not take the insult lightly and knocks him into the volcano.

Deeper inside the volcano, Bowser has found a spot for himself and Peach. He's thinking about building a second castle. Baby Bowser drops in with the exact same idea. Despite that, when they meet, they don't see eye to eye.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 5: Houston, We have Continuity!

When you return to the castle, talk to Gadd. He's impressed that the bros retrieved two Cobalt Star shards. He also takes a look at Toadbert's sketch. Peach lost the battle with Princess Shroob and the Cobalt Star shattered. The rest of the details are unknown. Gadd says a new time hole appeared on the third floor of the castle. We haven't even checked the other three that appeared yet, so we shouldn't check this one out yet. It leads to Peach's Castle in the past, and it's heavily guarded. We must get more Cobalt Star shards for now.

The Toadsworths are in the garden again. Her Majesty is crying again. The two of them have formed a ball and roll around. This amuses the princess. Mario wants to learn the move. The Bros. Ball involves hitting [R] to select the move and hitting (A) to form a ball. Then roll around, which is faster than walking. It also allows you to go under low ceilings. The Toadsworths mention that this technique will help them reach the viewing platform on the third floor. They also mention that it can spin things.

On the west side of the castle is a strange device with a gear. Spin the gear with the Bros. Ball and a pipe appears. It goes to the basement of the castle. You'll see a mysterious figure in a red hood in the next area. Before you follow it, have the babies go through the grates of the pipes. Have the bros stand on the cracks in the pipes. Directly under each crack is an item block with a 100-coin coin. The room to the north has more items. Follow the mysterious figure.

To the east, the mysterious figure will go past a grate. Get the 100-coin coins and head west, then north. You'll reach a new area that looks much different from the rest of the pipes. Talk to the figure to hear a familiar voice. "I have boredom... Guests? Now I have... FURY! I say to you WELCOME! Welcome to Fawful's Bean 'n' Badge! In this place beans are like precious treasure milked from a famous cow made of jewels! All who come with beans leave with badges so rare they make mustaches droop with disbelief! What? The story of Fawful? Your words are not beans. I am not wanting them... You are like brainless cats that are too dumb to know they are stupid! You have curiosity... ...But my tales is long, so long it makes babies old and hairy lips grow gray with aging. Do you dare hear?"

If you answer, "Um, OK.", he'll tell you. "Then now you listen! I am here, merchant of badges, only sometimes with fury, but I once had fury at all times. I drizzled rage dressing on the country next door. Rage dressing on a salad of evil! And then the bad men came. Red and green bad men. I had the punishment. Bad punishment with hammers and jumping on my head and the overheat of my ship. I have a little fury even with my remembering... Red! And green! A pair of jumping hammers in red and green who are looking like you! I HAVE FURY! Those brothers of badness! My brain aches at their overalls! I have fury AND headache now! Fawful would be here, reigning over all and laughing at you! ...But no. SO MUCH FURY! Stupid mustaches! Hairs like the dirty tail of a horse in a barn built by a farmer who is crazy! ...I have calm. I am waiting like an elevator. I have the commerce. I run Fawful's Bean 'n' Badge, but... The day comes soon when Fawful rises again, and then no baby's candy has safety! I am counting chickens before they are even eggs, before the chickens are even chickens! I WILL! HAVE! FURY! I LAUGH AT DEFEAT! I FIGHT WITH RAGE! I HURT YOUR FACES! Hooof... Heffff... D-Did I...have insanity? Did I...have evil? I suppress the fury, but sometimes... The fury has me. Red and green puts the fog of rage in my eyes, and my mind goes crazy. P-Please... I will be fine. No worrying for Fawful. We talk of beans."

"Beans and badges... We begin trading!" You can check out his interesting selection, or learn more about beans. "The beans hide in the dirts of this country like dirt-fish who like to eat dirt for dinner. Bean symbols like this are marking all bean spots. You are digging in dirt, right? You are digging under symbols. And you are finding much bean! Bean symbols have sneakiness! When the beans are gone, the symbols flee like babies! You are wanting much beans? Then you are hunting symbols. And digging and popping. There are even places to win beans in games, maybe... If you get many beans, you get many badges at this place, Fawful's Bean 'n' Badge!" His most interesting badge is the Ulti-Free Badge. It costs 90 beans, but it is well worth it. It gives you unlimited Bros. Item, if you have them in your inventory. If you haven't obtained that Bros. Item, you will not have an unlimited supply of them, but once you do, you will. I have 73 beans at this point, so I'm close to getting the badge. When you're done, he says, "I have badges. Such badges. Bring beans! BEANS! Now is the time when you wait! I have a vision... The castle viewing platform... A new path for your finding... A new path...of DOOM!"

There's nothing to the south, and a time hole to the west. We won't be using it just yet. The time hole we need is accessible from the second floor in the tall tower. Hit the ! Block, then roll up the stairs to reach the top before the ! Block at the top of the stairs disappears. You have 25 seconds. This leads to the viewing platform, where you can see the kingdom. Travel through the time hole.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 3: The Battle for Cookies

Sooner or later, you'll want to return to Bowser's Castle and Toadwood Forest to pick up the beans lying around, and get the beans in the castle. When you're done, you should have around 29.

When you're ready, talk to Gadd. Stuffwell explains that Baby Bowser has the two Cobalt Star shards we retrieved. Gadd says a lot of time holes have popped up lately, namely four around the castle. The one in the second floor's library has strong Cobalt Star readings, so Baby Bowser's probably in the area it leads to. Before we go, Gadd suggests checking on Toadsworth in the garden.

In the garden, Toadsworth the Younger is standing on the Elder's head, trying to entertain a crying Baby Peach. They execute a Spin Jump, calling it the "Toadsworth Twist". Her Majesty is amused. Luigi requests that the Toadsworths teach them the move. It's the same as before, but Luigi stands on Mario's head.

When you're ready to go, go upstairs to the second floor to the library. Stand on the bookcases and Spin Jump to others. There are some items in the area. To reach the time hole, Spin Jump towards the back wall, where you can walk around. Pick up the babies from the pipe block. The time hole is to the left.

The bros wind up in a lush green area with great music. The melody is part of the Yoshi Village music from Paper Mario. Go east. You'll see a large set of shoe prints in the ground. This is the village on Yoshi Island, but it's deserted. Check out the houses. In one house is a Koopa with a camera, wearing a beret. She's Kylie Koopa, ace reporter for the Koopa Kronicle. She says a giant egg just appeared and thinks it's connected to the Shroobs. She wants to use the spring in the corner, but it won't work. Have the babies use it. There are four Yoshis upstairs. They tell the babies to be quiet and loud footsteps are heard. The Yoshis run away outside. Outside is a giant Yoshi-like monster. It eats the Yoshis. Kylie gets some photos before being eaten as well, then spat out. Eventually, it leaves. Outside, the bros meet up with Kylie again. She says the monster is called Yoob. She also mentions a Magikoopa going into the house to the east, but is going to follow Yoob.

In the house to the east is Kamek, gathering snacks for Baby Bowser, who's on the cliff top. He's not going to deal with the bros for now and leaves. There are some items upstairs. Outside, Kamek runs into Yoob. Yoob eats him and spits him out, just like Kylie. Apparently, it doens't like Koopas. Go through the northwest house. To the west is a spring and the shadow of a block. Have the babies use the spring to reach the clouds. Hit the button on the block to put it within reach of the bros. Inside the next house is a pile of Yoshi cookies. Luigi grabs a few. Ahead is the pipe.

Kamek is ahead, but the bros won't let him by. To make the bros' lives difficult, he sets various fires in the area. Have Baby Mario approach the running water. The number near his head indicates how many water drops he can spit up. Having Baby Luigi hit Baby Mario with a hammer will make him spit up the water. Put out the fire to the east and keep going. You'll encounter Pidgits on flying carpets. Defeating the ones with money bags will give you more coins. In the next areas, you'll send the babies to the clouds. There are enemies there called Gnarantulas. Use hammers on them initially, because there are Gnarantulas with spikes covered by the fuzz. Also check out the bean spots on the clouds.

The path ahead will split. There are three areas you need to go to and extinguish the area's fire. This will allow you to hit a block that will make a larger block appear that you can use as a platform. The running water you need may be on the clouds. Go east first to make the red block appear. In the next area, accessible via the red block, go north and tunnel under the grate. Spit the water into both tubes. Have the bros Spin Jump to the green block. To the northeast is a puzzle that has you align blocks with tubes so that water will travel through the tubes to the fire. Hit the blue block and continue north. You may encounter Coconutters, who use spears. The position of the spear will determine if you attack by jumping or using a hammer. Go through the pipe ahead.

There's a tornado in the next area that allows you to cross larger gaps with the Spin Jump. This will scare away Kamek. The babies will take the lower path, which leads to a spring. This will allow the bros to reunite. Continue on to the next area, which requires hitting a ! Block to reveal a grate. This will allow the babies to reach some running water. In the next area, the tornado moves, so time your Spin Jump.

Near the Save Book, you'll see Kamek. Save, then approach him. The bros hide and spy on Baby Bowser guzzling Yoshi cookies. His stomach hurts, so Kamek gives him warm milk from an evil cow. Baby Bowser's okay with being in this ghost town because he gets to eat lots of cookies. The babies reveal their presence and the bros do as well. While they talk, the babies eat the cookies. Baby Bowser thinks they want his treasure, which is correct. He freaks out when he sees the babies in front of what was his pile of cookies. Kamek's going to deal with this.

Kamek starts off flying on his broom. He'll use magic to drop spike balls and mushrooms on the bros. Don't hit the mushrooms at him. He'll also split into five. We have a new Bros. Item to use called Smash Eggs. Kick the egg into the enemy until it breaks or the enemy is defeated. You might get an item from it. If you use Fire Flowers, hit the babies' buttons to hit airborn enemies. Hit the babies' buttons to add power to the next hit. When he takes enough damage, he'll fall off his broom. On the ground, he'll send a flame to hit the bros. It will hit him and he'll run into the bros. After he's defeated, he'll just lay on the ground. Time to chase Baby Bowser!

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 2: Hammers Roxor

E. Gadd is waiting for the bros in the throne room. The time hole remains and is marked on the top screen, including its destination. Now that all four bros have joined forces, you can reach the upper floors of the castle. When you're ready, talk to Gadd. He's got the Jr. Shrooboid in a state of suspended animation. He's happy to see the four teaming up. Stuffwell shows off the mysterious sparkly shard and Gadd identifies it as a shard of the Cobalt Star that powered the time machine. Gadd has no idea why the Cobalt Star was broken, nor why a shard of it was in Bowser's Castle. The shard floats over to the Jr. Shrooboid and it reacts angrily. Gadd concludes that there's a link between the Cobalt Star and the Shroobs. A Toad suggests finding more shards to learn how to defeat the Shroobs. The shard opens up a time hole in the west part of the castle. Gadd says it reacted to the other shards in the past. Stuffwell will keep track of how many we've collected. Gadd gives the bros a badge, which makes Stuffwell very happy. An item and equipment store on the east side of castle is now open, so check it out before you head out. When you're ready, go through the time hole.

Toadsworth, carrying Baby Peach, runs into his older self. Toadsworth the Elder thinks that the princess grew younger due to her trip with the time machine. Toadsworth the Younger freaks out, not knowing who Toadsworth the Elder is.

The time hole leads to Toadwood Forest. Something's weird about the trees. Toads are stuck in the trees. In some item blocks, you may find Fire Flowers as new Bros. Items. There are some hollow tree stumps in the forest. Toss the babies into the tree trunks to find items, coins, and enemies. Koopeleons are one type of enemy in the trunks. They'll disappear, making dodging their attacks difficult. Some of the item blocks contain coins worth 100 coins. They'll fly out of the tree trunk, so have Mario and Luigi get them.

In the next area, the bros find Toadiko, one of Peach's assistants that went on the time machine trip, trapped in a tree. When the time machine arrived, the three of them were attacked by the Shroobs. Princess Peach was taken and the trees of Toadwood Forest captured Toadiko. The trees siphon away the captured Toad's vim, which flows through the roots to the Shroob Vim Factory. There, the vim is mixed with chemicals to make fuel for the flying saucers. The bros must go to the Vim Factory, as Toadiko know's there's a Cobalt Star shard. Some flying saucers appear overhead and fire lasers, hitting Toadiko, turning her into a Shroob mushroom. She mentions gathering the Cobalt Star shards.

In the next areas, you'll encounter Boo Guys, ghostly Shy Guys. They'll split into two, but the bro it points to will be attacked. There will be pipes in the trunks, which are enemies called Elasto-Piranhas. The path will split ahead. To the southwest, go to the large trunk in the southwest and have the babies move around. There are boxes with little flames that the babies must hit. Each flame will appear from the tall, skinny trunks into another box. When all flames are outside, hit them in their new boxes into the box into the center. They will conglomerate into one giant flame. Hit that box to send the flame to the trees ahead, which will burn them and clear a path. The path ahead leads to a pipe.

To the north is the Vim Factory, but you can't cross the moat just yet. Go east and toss the babies into the trunk. There's a block with a rotating arrow. It controls the platform over the spikes. Use the platform to go to the right. When you make it across the spikes, go north and reunite the bros. In front of the radio antenna is another colorful block. Have one bro jump up, then, while in mid-air, have the baby jump to hit the block. You can hit higher blocks this way. Hitting the blocks activates the antenna, deactivating one of the claws in front of the factory. Go west and toss the babies in the trunk to control the platform that's to the south. Go due east over the obstacles to the ! Block that raises a platform. To the west is another radio antenna. Deactivate the other antenna. Go south and have the babies control another platform. There are useful items over the spikes. The path will take you to the area south of the factory. Use the pipe block in front of the factory to reunite. You can now enter the factory.

Inside the Vim Factory are two Hammer Bros that speak in L33T. "AREA RESTRICTED. ALL NOOB INTRUDERS 2 B HAXORED BY US L33T HAMM3R BROZ.! WE R TEH SHROOB ALLIES. WE ROXOR U AND THEN ROFL. THEN U AM CRY. WE RECEIVE ORDERS THRU ANTENNAS ON THESE L33T HELMETS. THEY R HOTNESS. WE MUST OBEY ALL ORDERS. WE LIKE 2 PWN NOOBZ 4 TEH MASTER SHROOBZORS. U = NOOBZ. BROZ. = L33T. PREPARE 4 TOTAL PWNAGE. WOOT! WOOT! WOOT! WOOT!" Roughly translated, the L33T Hammer Bros are under the control of the Shroobs due to their special helmets and will defeat the bros. A device drops in and takes Mario and Luigi away. "NOOBZ STILL R NOT PWNED. CONTINUE PWNERSHIP UNTIL ALL NOOBZ R PWNED. TEH ESCAPE IS IMPOSSIBLE. WE R 2 L33T. WE OWNZ JOO. U WILL GET FLATZORED BY R L33T HAMMERS." Translation: the bros haven't been completed defeated, so they will flatten the babies with their hammers. Time for battle.

The L33T Hammer Bros have a hammer-based Bros. Attack, which that looks like Knockback Bros. They will also throw their hammers. Use Fire Flowers on them, as burns can help do extra damage. Defeating them breaks the helmets on their heads, freeing them from Shroob control. The Hammer Bros are thankful and give the babies some hammers. With new equipment comes new techniques and tutorials. Baby Mario always uses the hammer to hit stuff and Baby Luigi uses his to drill underground (like the Luigi Dunk). The order of the bros does not change (no hitting [Start]), so you're ready to use hammers when you hit [R]. The drill technique will allow you to get beans from marks in the ground (there's only one type of bean in the Mushroom Kingdom, but you'll want to collect lots of them).

After the tutorial's over, step on the yellow switch with two dots. Go through the hallway and smash crates. Ahead is a room of puzzles. Tunnel under the gates to reach the top of the walls and hit switches. This will make platforms appear that form stairs in the northwest corner. Enter the ventilation system. It's a maze with some new enemies called Spiny Shroopas. The Hammer Bros teach the baby bros how to use hammers in battle. When you exit the ventilation system, go south via the left gate to enter a room with an enemy and items. Go east and you'll see a giant tree. Hit the orbs at the tree's roots to destroy them. The bros will fall out of the tree's nostrils and and Spiny Shroopas drop in. The Hammer Bros appear so they can teach the quartet how to use hammers in battle. Once the battle's over, hit the switch high on the back wall to the right to open the gate. Hit the four-person switch to move forward. You'll find a new Bros. Item and new enemies. Dr. Shroobs will use two types of mushrooms. Attack them to knock the mushroom out of their hands. Leave the gray mushrooms alone, because when they eat them, they'll be weaker. If they have red mushrooms, they'll become gigantic and attack. Lakitufos will drop Spiny Shroopas on the field. Take the pipe further into the factory.

In the next room, tunnel under the gate to hit the switch which opens the gate. In the next room, in the middle, throw the babies onto the back wall and have them go through the hole. Hit the switch in the room to deactivate the electric gate for the bros. Hit the blocks ahead to form a path for the babies. Hit the switches and blocks so each set of bros can progress. The babies will leave the room on the right and walk high on the wall, breaking crates along the way. They'll have a nice view of all the Toad-shaped vim going through the tubes. Hit the two switches on the far left to open the two gates below. There are beans through the left gate, as well as through the right gate. To the right, send the babies through the back wall so they can control a platform once more. There are blocks directly over the sparks, so make sure their shadows are on the platform before you jump to get them. Reunite the bros at the other end of the pit of sparks. Save in the Save Book and hit the switch on the floor when you're ready.

Beyond the door is a giant, green, Wiggler-like entity. It drinks from a cup and powers up flying saucers. It's called Swiggler, and Baby Mario knocks over its cup, sending it into a rage. Battle time! Swiggler is accompanied by two Dr. Shroobs. You'll want to attack the Dr. Shroobs holding gray mushrooms to knock them into Swiggler's cup, which will weaken him. You'll just have to deal with the powered-up Dr. Shroobs. Swiggler will spew a poisonous gas, slam the ground, creating shockwaves, and power up some flying saucers that shoot at the bros. Use Bros. Items on Swiggler, especially if he's weak. It's a great opportunity to test out the Cannonballers, which shoot the bros from a cannon. Hit each bro's button as they land. When you defeat it, it explodes, revealing a Cobalt Star shard. Baby Bowser appears out of nowhere and runs circles around the bros, making them dizzy and drop the shards. He thinks they stole treasure from his castle. Kamek picks him up. The bros return to the present to strategize.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Part 1: Gadd, the Suitcase is Talking to Me

Mario and Luigi safely travel through the time hole to the Mushroom Kingdom of the past. Something else makes its way through the time hole, and tells E. Gadd not to shove it. It lands on poor Luigi's back. It recognizes Mario, but can't find Luigi, seeing as it's standing on him. Luigi gets up and it apologizes. This entity is Stuffwell, a suitcase invented by Gadd. For some reason, Gadd thought to give it a voice. It's as annoying as it sounds. Stuffwell claims to be an assistant, containing many sensors and memory apparati for data retention. After the tour, the time hole disappears. We're stuck here, so we might as well move forward.

As you move forward, Stuffwell will teach you how to use the controls and move around the area. There are blocks in the area that are colored either red or green. It should go without saying what to do here, but Stuffwell's going to say it anyway. Hitting all the blocks makes the path ahead accessible. In the next area, a Toad drops out of the sky, hitting Mario on the head. He mentions the village ahead. Spaceships fly overhead and start attacking the village. The Toad mentions dank purple mushrooms. The Toad is picked up by a spaceship's tractor beam.

On the giant mushrooms with the gold, sparkly stems are some purple mushroom-like enemies called Shrooblets. Cue battle tutorial from Stuffwell. Ahead, something speaks in a weird language and a Shrooblet drops on Luigi's head. Stuffwell determines this is a good time to teach the bros about items. Luigi needs the mushroom as the hit dropped him to 1 HP.

Ahead is Holli Jolli Village, looking just as devastated as Beanbean Castle Town when the bros first arrived. The spaceships abduct a Toad before leaving. Check out the houses for items. The mayor of Holli Jolli Village lives in the house east of the one with the Save Book. He's stuck in the chimney. He looks familiar. He calls whatever just attacked the village "Shroobs". Have Mario push him out of the chimney. The mayor is approached by Shroobs and calls for help. The bros leave the house and watch the Shroobs abduct the mayor. The Shroobs battle them.

One Shroob calls in air support in the form of a spaceship with a bomb attached to it. When the number drops to zero, the spaceship will unleash an enormous energy ball. The Shroobs will attack with their laser guns. You're not going to win this fight. The Shroobs will cheer at their victory.

Above Holli Jolli Village, Bowser's Koopa Cruiser flies. Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, and Baby Peach are playing inside the Cruiser when Shroob spaceships attack. You may want to turn the volume down, because the babies will start crying. Toadsworth takes the princess to safety and the baby bros make their way through the cruiser. Koopas explain how the baby bros move: (X) for Baby Mario and (Y) for Baby Luigi. Once on the bridge, Baby Bowser decides to show off the Koopa Cruiser's firepower and takes out all three spaceships in one hit. The Cruiser loses altitude and some Koopas notice Mario and Luigi on the ground. Baby Bowser doesn't want to help them as it's past his snack time, and because he's evil. Peach voices her disapproval of his decision. Baby Bowser fires the Koopa Cannon at the Shroobs to calm her down. He lets the baby bros off at the village to take care of things.

The baby bros approach Mario and Luigi and Shroobs appear from behind the spike ball that the Koopa Cannon fired. Toadsworth provides in-battle instructions on Bros. Items, which replace Bros. Attacks. To start, they get Green Shells. On the top screen, you'll see how the attack is to be executed. Each time you use a Bros. Item, it's number will decrease in your inventory, so you're limited to using how many you have, not how much BP you have. Toadsworth has an unlimited supply, so you can practice until you've got the timing down. After the battle, Toadsworth notices the similarity between the two sets of bros. He suggests taking those two aboard.

Toadsworth explains the invasion from the Shroob planet was a nightmare. The Shroobs want to take everything in the Mushroom Kingdom, including the land and the lives of its citizens. The village and Peach's Castle are in ruins. Baby Bowser called in Kamek and the Koopa Cruiser to get them out of there. The Cruiser is now on it's way to Peach's Castle, which has been redecorated to be Shroob Castle. The leader, Princess Shroob, is there. Mario explains that Peach is being held there. Princess Shroob sends a transmission to the Cruiser, but no one understands the Shroob language. Actions speak louder than words, however, and Shroob Castle launches a missile at them. The Koopa Cannon is out of ammo, so they can't counterattack. They just barely make it to Bowser's Castle, which is still under Baby Bowser's rule.

Mario and Luigi stumble out of the Cruiser and Stuffwell informs them that the others were probably thrown clear of the crash site. Stuffwell's sensors prove to be useful, as he locates a timehole in the castle. Inside the castle are typical enemies, such as Goombas and Boos. You may need to walk on the higher platforms to move to new areas. Soon, you'll hear the babies. They're on a ledge high above. They'll drop down and the bros can continue, after the babies stop feeling abandoned. Stuffwell explains that the bros can carry their baby selves piggyback. The babies can jump off with either (X) or (Y), which can allow them to reach higher ledges. If you see panels on the ground with four spots, you'll need all four bros to activate the panel. The blocks with pipes on them allow the bros to regoup if they've been separated.

Ahead, you'll run into Kamek, looking for Baby Bowser. He mentions kidnapping the babies previously. He sends an enemy to deal with them, which gives Stuffwell an opportunity to explain how to battle as a quartet. Jump on top of the pipe when you reach it. It will take you to a different part of the castle. In some parts, you'll see blocks with four colors. Line up the bros according to how many blocks there are. Hit the solid block to make the other block solid. When you hit all the blocks, something will happen. In one area to the north, you'll throw the babies on to a ledge which leads to a dark room. Have the bros stand under the block with the Shine Sprite and hit it to illuminate the room for the babies. In a retro-styled item block on the other side of the fence is a sparkling blue shard. Stuffwell doesn't know what to do with it, but will hold onto it. Take the pipe to the next part of the castle.

The door ahead has flowers on it. It leads to Baby Bowser's playroom, where Toadsworth and Peach have been waiting. The time hole is here as well. Toadsworth does not plan on jumping into the time hole, but goes to avoid being alone. The time hole takes the bros to the east side of Peach's present castle.

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time -- Save the Princess. Save the Kingdom. With Time Travel.

"Really, really long ago... way far out in space... in a dark, dank place shunned by starlight... there was this creepy planet floating alone... The beings of this world were... creepy. They spent their time staring creepily into space. Just creepy daydreamers, right? Wrong. They were searching. Searching for a new home. At last, they fixed their creepy gazes on a distant world, a land of beauty and peace..."

Baby Mario and Baby Luigi walk into Peach's Castle and are greeted by a younger Toadsworth. Her Majesty would like some playmates to play with. The young bros walk ahead into the next room to find many Toads collapsed on the floor. Baby Bowser drops in carrying Baby Peach. Seems Bowser was intent on kidnapping Peach at an early age. Toadsworth tries to deal with Baby Bowser, but his flames are too much for him to handle. Time for Baby Mario to deal with Baby Bowser, while Baby Luigi keeps Baby Peach entertained. Toadsworth will give instructions on Action Commands and dodging attacks. All Baby Mario can do is jump for now. It only takes a few rounds. Baby Bowser says he can't lose because he's a prince. The victory celebration is interrupted by an attack on the castle. Purple and white spaceships take aim at the castle. Behind the clouds are hundreds more.

In the present, there is breaking news in the kingdom. E. Gadd has completed a time machine. It's powered by a Cobalt Star. The time machine was unveiled at Peach's Castle. Peach decided to take it for a spin with a couple of Toad attendants named Toadbert and Toadiko. She decided to go to the Mushroom Kingdom's past. Toadsworth is less than pleased. Not even Gadd assurance of a 99.999999999% chance of her return can calm Toadsworth's worry. He collapses. A Toad tells Mario to get a Refreshroom in Toadsworth's room to revive him. Lakitu provides an overhead map of the castle for Mario, letting him know which room he's in. Toadsworth's room is in the southwest corner, but that doesn't mean Mario can't pick up items along the way. The Refreshroom is in the item block over the plants. Return to the throne room when you get it. The cure is just what the doctor ordered.

After Toadsworth's miraculous recovery, the time machine reappears, heavily damaged. Inside, however, is not Peach, nor her attendants. It's a green monster called a Junior Shrooboid. Mario takes center stage in the battle. Jump to attack and counterattack. Once the battle's over, Gadd informs everyone that thankfully, the Shrooboid didn't eat Peach. His DS time radar says Peach is in the Mushroom Kingdom of the past. Using the time machine to find her is out of the question. Luigi appears, freaking out about a mysterious hole in the castle's garden. Gadd thinks that the time machine tore holes in the time continuum. The bros join up to go due south to the garden. Hit the Save Book on your way.

Gadd says the mysterious hole is a time hole connecting the past to the present. Luigi gets too close to the time hole. Gadd doesn't know where the time hole leads or if it's possible to return to present. Mario wants to use it to save the princess. Gadd thinks it's the only way. Toadsworth's stretcher crashes into the time hole, startling Luigi and causing him to fall in. Mario jumps in after him. Where will the time hole lead? Will the bros find the princess? Will there be continuity in a Mario series? All this and more in the exciting sequel to my personal favorite Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga. Stay tuned!

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga -- Part 5: Beany Sidequests

Things are back to normal in Beanbean Castle Town. The buildings have been repaired and people are wandering around outside. Some of them have quests for you. The elderly man in the southeast corner tells of the ancient Soybean civilization. He wants to find the treasures of the civilization, the Beanstones. There are 10 of them in the castle town. He wants the bros to find them, and mentions that the ancient Soybeans were rather short. This is a clue to help you find them: Mini Mario can sense when the Beanstones (and other things) are underground. He'll have an exclamation point over his head when something's buried underground. There are Beanstones to the left of the southwest house, one just south of the southern arch, one southeast of the north arch, one in front of the equipment shop, and one to the right of the northern arch. The other five are in the east part of the castle town. One is in the southwest corner, near the information shop, one on the rightmost of the southern ledges, one is just south of the stairs to the castle, one on the northeast ledge, and one on the left side of the northern house. He'll give you a Bros. Rock badge. A guy near the information shop is missing his five Beanlets, little, green, round pets. One is in the northeast corner, one on the roof of the northern house (High Jump from the side to reach the roof), and on the west side, one is on the roof of the southeast house, one on the roof of the southwest house, and one behind the northwest house. He'll give you a Golden Mushroom, which restores all HP and BP.

There are more things to do in Beanbean Fields. If you go to the west, you can go past a gate into a cave. It's a 2D area where you go to the right while avoiding Lil' Sparkies. The mole at the end will give you a Golden Mushroom. To the north in the same area is a gate that leads to the area's green pipe. There's a green pipe to the south, as well. In some areas, you'll see rings of flowers, or large beanpods surrounded by flowers. You'll find Bean Fruit buried underground. You'll need them later. There are 4 you can get now. To the northeast is another cave. Mini Mario can complete a platforming challenge with spikes and Lil' Sparkies. There are two moles in this cave. The first one you see gives you a 1-Up Mushroom. The one that you reach by going over the ceiling will give you the High End badge.

While on the east side of Beanbean Fields, you'll find Lakipea, a Lakitu that throws Sharpeas. You'll need to High Jump to battle them. You'll also come across Bob-ombs if you go to the beach on the east. Paratroopea, which are like Paratroopas are also here. They can heal themselves and allies. To the north are Tanoombas, which are Goombas that look like Tanookis.

When you have a decent stash of beans, return to the west side of the castle town. To the north is Starbeans Cafe. Here you can blend your beans into bean juice. There are seven blends to choose from: the Woohoo Blend, Hoohoo Blend, Chuckle Blend, Teehee Blend, Hoolumbian, Chuckoccino, and Teeheespresso. When you make a blend for the first time, something interesting happens. The cafe goes dark. A familiar tune stars playing. A ghost sneaks up on Luigi. E. Gadd walks in, with the Poltergust 3000. He's the owner of the cafe. He says the aroma of the drink drew out the ghosts here. He vacuums the ghost. The barista explains that Gadd invented the bean blending Beanbean machine. He'll ask to sample the drink, which spurs him to push his ghost research into a new dimension. He'll give you an item to help on the journey. He gives the items in the same order regardless of what you make. The first one is the Greed Wallet. The next is the Bonus Ring. When you blend your third new drink, Gadd appears on the Super Poltergeist 3001, which can be ridden. (It makes an appearance as the Poltergust 4000 in Mario Kart DS.) He'll give you the Excite Spring. After blending the fourth drink, Gadd appears on the Game Boy Horror and sends a friendly ghost representative to taste the drink. He'll give you the Great Force. Gadd will do another video conference on the Game Boy Horror after blending the fifth drink, despite his promises to appear in person. He uses the new warp function to warp the drink to him. He'll give you the Power Grip. After blending the sixth drink, Gadd appears in person, wearing a gown that lets him become a ghost. This freaks Luigi out, so he uses the Poltergust 3000 on him. Gadd gives the bros the Cobalt Necktie. When you blend all seven drinks, he'll give you the Game Boy Horror SP, which will make enemies drop special items after battle. He places a portrait of himself on the wall.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - Terrifying Invasion

King Boo sent the invasions of ghosts to reclaim the mansions. He's sent a horde of ghosts to Treacherous Mansion. These are the strongest ghosts he's got. If successful, they could invade Evershade Valley and the world beyond.

As always, check the map for locations of ghosts. Catch them as quickly as possible and use the E-Gates to your advantage. The ghosts are a mix of strong and regular ghosts of many varieties. Gadd calls when you're almost done, and when you've defeated all the ghosts. We're the finest ghost hunter he's seen.

Gadd says we've saved everyone from the ravaging ghosts. King Boo must be furious. And with that, we are done. It was a fun ride.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- King Boo's Illusion - A Nightmare to Remember

Luigi lands somewhere dark and surreal. King Boo is laughing. Some curtains open and King Boo is wandering around. The curtains close and Mario's painting appears. King Boo makes the painting disappear. He's not happy about Luigi trapping him in a painting and he's going to paint the town red. He broke the Dark Moon. His crown enhances his power. He wants to be supreme ruler of our world, with the Evershade Valley ghosts as his army. He'll turn everyone into paintings. The final battle starts!

King Boo will pound the arena, causing a shockwave, and making spike balls appear. Don't touch them. When the spike balls are about to drop down, lure him under a shadow and use the vacuum to hold King Boo in place and let them land on him. You can now vacuum him. He has 100 HP. When you drop his HP to 0, he won't be contained in the vacuum. He breaks up the battle arena and Luigi slides into a mansion.

Now you have to run from him, dodging furniture obstacles. Ahead are pillows which will slow you down. Stay on the hardwood floors. You'll go up and down stairs, some of which are slides and escalators. Dodge the snow and spring out the window.

You'll return to the battle arena. Pillows will land on the floor. The battle will continue as usual. Some of the tiles will become cracked. If a spiked ball rolls over them, they will return to normal. He'll escape the Poltergust 5000 and chase you through a mansion.

This mansion will have suits of armor and will be dark in spots. Use the flashes of light and your flashlight to navigate, as there springs to deal with. Next is an icy patch with ice tablets blocking your way. They'll fall eventually, but will slow you down. Slide down the stairs and ice. Run between the suits of armor and spring out of the window back to the battle arena.

Avoid the lightning strikes. The floor won't change, but only one tile will be safe. The next few rounds of lightning will change the floor to cracked tiles or spikes. This time, when you drop his HP to 0, you'll capture him. The jewel in his crown is spit out. It's over. Grab the jewel, do a victory dance, and the illusion shatters, and you're on the Terrace.

Mario's painting is here. Gadd pixelates to the Terrace. Gadd says Luigi should try using the Dark Light to free Mario, instead of knocking on the frame. Mario thanks Luigi, calling him "Number 1". The five Toads pixelate in, with the Dark Moon pieces. They help Luigi reassemble the Dark Moon and it flies into the sky, sending out a wave of pacifying energy. Ghosts in the vault and all of Evershade Valley are friendly again. Gadd releases all of the ghosts in the Ghost Container. Time for a group photo! Luigi hangs the photo in his house, and has taken in the Polterpup.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - Stop the Knightmare

Gadd says the Parascope can't find the Dark Moon piece, so it must be beyond the portal. King Boo must be on the other side as well, with Mario's painting. Gadd's proud of us.

Terrace
We land on the Terrace and are pulled through the portal.

???
We're in some part of an unknown mansion. A suit of armor is holding the Dark Moon piece. Approach it, and the last possessor ghost reveals itself. It splits in two and each one possesses a suit of armor. They'll run around and attack you. Lead them both onto a single rug and pull it out from under them. The suits of armor will break apart and the possessor will reform. It will put up a shield and fly around the room. Each time it stops, the shield will drop. Vacuum it to peel off one layer. The possessor will split into three this time and possess three suits of armor. As before, lead all three to a single rug and yank the rug out from under them. The possessor will reform and you can vacuum it. Now it splits into four and flies outside. It takes over a giant suit of armor that steps into the room. Each step will make rubble drop down and it will try to stomp you. Pull out the rug when both feet are on it. It will also drag its sword through the floor. This time, get the feet to stand on two separate rugs and pull them out one at a time. He'll flip out of the room and the four possessors will reform, put up a shield, and charge. Vacuum up the possessor for the Dark Moon piece. Gadd brings us back to the Bunker.

During transport, the Dark Moon goes through, but something pulls Luigi back. Only the Dark Moon piece reaches the Bunker.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - E-5 Paranormal Chaos

After our battle with Big Boo, there's a new radical signal on the Parascope. Gadd says it's a distortion of the fabric of our dimension. There's a paranormal portal on the Terrace. Gadd thinks the Dark Moon piece might be beyond it. Mario and King Boo should be there, as well. It's a dangerous task, but we must do it.

Inner Courtyard
We land in the Inner Courtyard. Spin the staircase so you can reach the door in the back, near the pixelator screen.

Terrace
King Boo is here. He uses the gem on his crown to open the portal and goes through it. Lots of strong ghosts fly out of the portal. This is probably how the infestations happen. Gadd says the portal will have to wait as we deal with these ghosts, or our dimension could collapse on itself. It starts storming. Check your map for locations of ghosts. Use E-Gates to move quickly.

Nautical Exhibit
Slammers are here, both strong and regular varieties.

Space Exhibit
Strong Greenies are here, some with shields.

Aviation Exhibit
Restore the hot air balloon to make MaraBoo appear. MaraBoo has 40 HP.

Ice Age Exhibit
Strong Sneakers are here.

Dark Age Exhibit
Strong Greenies with swords and shields.

Ancient Exhibit
Mummies and Strong Greenies whipping up twisters. After a while, Gadd will call, saying the dimension is reaching its paranormal limit. A timer will tell you how much time you have left. The timer will stop if you catch some ghosts to bring the level much lower than the limit.

Jungle Exhibit
Strong Gobber.

Restrooms
Creepers.

Kitchen
Strong Hiders

Once you've taken care of all the above ghosts, Gadd calls, saying there are high paranormal readings in the Terrace again.

Terrace
More ghosts are coming through the portal. Catch as many as you can, especially if you can get multiple ghosts at a time. Prepare for an absolute onslaught of ghosts. Gadd may tell you the paranormal level is getting too high. Once you're done, Gadd calls, saying we're an artist at ghost-catching. He returns us to the Bunker.

King Boo sent the ghosts to stop us after we defeated Big Boo. The portal is still open, so we can reach him. We'll have to hurry before he closes it.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - E-4 Ambush Maneuver

Gadd routed the pixelator to the tiny camera in the Train Exhibit. Strong signals are still in the area and are not moving. We can pixelate there with the element of surprise, defeat King Boo, and save Mario.

Train Exhibit
We land in the train model and it's quiet. We can't cross the train tracks. There's a bunch of balloons on the track, as well as a train missing its engine. Restore the train engine and it moves towards the balloons and pops them. A bunch of Boos notice and conglomerate into Big Boo. It's somewhat like the Big Boo battle in Luigi's Mansion: we have to pop Big Boo into smaller Boos and defeat them. Big Boo will bounce around the inside of the train tracks or dive into the floor and move around. If he dives into the floor, try to lure him into running into the train engine's drill. If he bounces around, he'll eventually stop and let his tongue hang out. Pull it and aim him so he hits the drill. The train is constantly moving, so this is a little difficult. When you do, he'll burst into smaller balloons and a couple of hearts. At this point, the tops of the train cars will open. Grab a Boo by the tongue and aim it at the train cars. This will trap each Boo in a cage. The Boos will reform Big Boo after a short while, so be quick. It may take a while, but you must put each Boo in a cage. Gadd calls, saying that our plan to ambush King Boo was used against us. As there is no sign of Mario, Gadd will bring us back, after a victory dance, of course.

Gadd can't believe King Boo tricked us. He thinks King Boo staged the security image to lure us into the trap. The Boos in the train remained trapped until Gadd routed them to the Vault with the pixelator. Gadd wonders how King Boo escaped his portrait, but did mention selling it at a garage sale. Still, how he was released is still a mystery.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - E-3 A Train to Catch

Gadd's processed the security camera image, and it's the most recent one yet. This time we can clearly see the painting the Boos have- it's Mario. How this happened is unknown. There's a train in here, making this part of the Train Exhibit in the mansion. There's a miniature train model in the room. King Boo is also in the room, and we can see all of him, not just his shadow. He turns around and laughs, disrupting the image. There's a huge signal in the Train Exhibit. Gadd thinks Mario might be able to help us fight King Boo. Gadd gives us a makeshift rotor to operate the staircase in the Inner Courtyard.

Front Entrance
We land in the Front Entrance. We need to go to the Inner Courtyard. If you're looking for treasure, go through all the hallways and restore gargoyles for extra cash.

Inner Courtyard
Install the rotor and spin the staircase so it reaches the landing on the right. The door leads to the East Corridor.

East Corridor
There are coins on the ceiling and a trail of coins leading to a fake door. If you check it out, a Strong Greenie and some Creepers will appear. The door on the right that's not directly across from the door to the Inner Courtyard takes you to the Nautical Exhibit.

Nautical Exhibit
It's foggy in here. There's a Strong Slammer spinning a helm, which flips the part of the wall with the E-Gate. Blow air on the open porthole to close it, then vacuum the fog. You can now vacuum the Strong Slammer, along with the Strong Greenie, and regular Greenie wearing a dive helmet. Ignore the octopus in the corner: it will hurt you. Activate the E-Gate. Grab a bucket of water from the Dark Age and Jungle Exhibits and place it at the stern of ship, where the life ring is. The helm will move out of the way so you can go outside. The rest of the ship is outside, with a treasure chest containing a diamond. Flip the E-Gate it to the other side using the helm. This will place the E-Gate in the Study next door, which is where you should go.

Study
There's an invisible book on the table to the right of the E-Gate. Restore it and replace it on the bookshelf. A Strong Poltergeist will push the book off the shelf and take it away. Gadd calls and says we need the book to open the passageway. Gadd says the ghost's on the same floor on the west side of the mansion. There are balloon plants in the room. The ceiling's fairly low here, so why would they be here? They're here so we can get lots and lots of treasure. Grab a balloon plant and go through the E-Gate.

Dark Age Exhibit
Use the balloon to float to the second floor. To the left are some painting which give you lots of coins. To the right is a bed with a gold balloon plant. This will make coins appear in a Boo shape. Collect them all to make a treasure chest appear with Booreaucrat. Booreaucrat has 40 HP. Treasure hunter, read on. Those who want to complete the mission, skip ahead to the Inner Courtyard.

Front Entrance
Take a balloon plant here. Fly up to the upper level, where gargoyles are. There's an invisible one on the left that has lots of money. One on the right is holding a blue book. Take it to the Dark Age Exhibit and place it on the bookshelf for a diamond.

Ice Age Exhibit
The wooly mammoth has moved. Pull its tail to make the fish jump out of the water all at once for lots of money. Take a balloon here and float up. On the left side of the room is a gold balloon. Follow the trail of coins to make a treasure chest with a diamond. The air currents will make this a little difficult. There's an invisible treasure chest where the wooly mammoth used to be. It has lots of money.

Ancient Exhibit
There's lots of money here, so bring a balloon. At the very top is a trail of coins and gold bars. The treasure chest also has lots of money. The gold balloon will make rings of coins appear in the center of the room. Go in the opposite direction of the coins to collect them faster. The treasure chest has lots of gold birds that will give you lots of money if you stun them.

Jungle Exhibit
Bring a balloon here, as well. Float up near the river and go left. The gold balloon is here. There are four rings of coins all over the room. This will get you a diamond. The door on the left leads to the East Balcony, where there are gold frogs and a treasure chest with money.

Inner Courtyard
If you went treasure hunting, Gadd will call you to go to the Space Exhibit. Spin the staircase so you can reach the door on the left. The door leads to the West Corridor.

West Corridor
There are three Creepers here. Once the lights are on gold spiders will appear. The door to the Space Exhibit is invisible, so restore it. There are other places to explore, if you like.

Archive
The room's fairly empty, aside from four boxes. A laugh will come from them. Check the out in the correct order: lower left, upper right, upper left, lower right to make a Gold Greenie appear.

Aviation Exhibit
There's a hot air balloon and a model plane. Spin the propeller and follow the plane around for lots of money. Remove a ballast from the hot air balloon and a Strong Hider and two Strong Greenies will appear. Stun them immediately so you can vacuum all three at once. When you're done, remove the other ballast for a diamond.

Space Exhibit
The telescope is rattling. Check it out to see the Strong Poltergeist on another planet. When you're done checking it out, you'll find yourself on that planet. The rings will start spinning and the stars will start glowing. He'll throw one at you. Stun him when you can, and vacuum him up as much as possible. He'll make the rings spin faster, then make bombs come out of the planet. Avoid them. He has 200 HP. Once you defeat him, you'll return to the Space Exhibit with the book. There's an E-Gate in the rocket. If you pull the cord from the other rocket, a Gold Greenie will laugh at you. Get a piece of wood from the Jungle Exhibit, light it in the Ancient Exhibit, and use it to light the cord. The rocket will take off through the ceiling. Leave and return. The rocket crashed and the Gold Greenie is stunned. Take the book back to the study to put it on the bookshelf. The door to the Train Exhibit will appear.

Train Exhibit
There are two Strong Hiders and a Strong Sneaker here. Once you're done, use the Strobulb on the train engine for lots of money. Restore the missing piece of track and a train will appear. Hop aboard. It will take you for a loop on the track for a diamond. Check the miniature train model and you'll see lots of Boos around Mario's painting. Gadd calls, with an idea on how to get into the train model. He returns us to the Bunker.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - E-2 Double Trouble

Gadd says the signals from the mansion are getting stronger, so locating the Dark Moon piece is impossible at this point. He's also worried about the Toad assistant looking after the exhibits of artifacts from all over Evershade Valley. He might know about the Dark Moon piece, but from what we saw in the last mission, we won't find him easily.

Veranda
We land next to the front door. Go through the front door into Front Entrance, after King Boo goes away.

Front Entrance
There are several E-Gates here, but they have to be activated from somewhere else. The gargoyle on the right has an invisible red ball. Pull it to make the stairs drop, revealing a safe. It contains a diamond and a Strong Slammer. The door on the left leads to the West Gallery.

West Gallery
There are a couple suits of armor and a gargoyle that gives you money. The door on the left leads to the Dark Age Exhibit.

Dark Age Exhibit
There are several medieval objects here. Check the iron maiden to make a couple of Strong Hiders and a Strong Greenie appear. Once you're done, check the treasure chest for money and a red book. Place back on the bookshelf to reveal the other E-Gate. The door on the back wall leads to Grand West.

Grand West
There's an invisible set of drawers to your immediate left with a Gold Greenie. Towards the back is snow. The hallway splits. In the hallway to the right, the second door on the left leads to the Kitchen. The first is fake.

Kitchen
The middle doors of the pantry conceal a carnivorous plant. Check the stove to get the burning chicken and shoot it at the plant for lots of money. Restore the ice box on the left to enter a secret area. It's another maze for Red Coins. Go either way, but be warned that the path is slippery and fish are in the water. Your reward is five gold bars. From Grand West, go through the door on the right to the Inner Courtyard.

Inner Courtyard (First Floor)
There's a large gargoyle holding two cages. Gadd says that there's a pixelator screen above us, but we'll need to figure out how to reach it. It's on the second floor. Other than getting some money, there's not much we can do here for now. Go through the back door in Grand West to the Ice Age Exhibit.

Ice Age Exhibit
There's a wooly mammoth here and lots of snow. The holes in the ice have fish that jump from them. Through the hole in the ice on the left, we can see a painting of a Toad. Inside the igloo is the E-Gate. Vacuum the wooly mammoth's trunk and it comes to life, and flings you to the Gargoyle Roof.

Gargoyle Roof
We can see the stars from here. Some are shooting stars, which we can pick up and place back in the constellation. It forms a star when finished and will give you a diamond. Restore the gargoyle on the front right corner for money. Return through the air vent. Return to the Front Entrance using an E-Gate.

Front Entrance
The door on the right leads to the East Gallery.

East Gallery
There's not much here beyond a gold mouse. The door on the right leads to the Jungle Exhibit.

Jungle Exhibit
There's a treasure chest under a leaf with lots of money. Nearby are some tiki statues. Vacuuming will rattle them, which makes Strong Greenies with spears appear. It also makes a carnivorous plant appear in front of the Toad painting. To the right is a vine to the lower level of the room. Under the waterfall is the E-Gate. Use it and others to return to the Dark Age Exhibit and pick up the Bucket the Strong Greenie was wearing and bring it back. The plant that needs to be watered produces a spiky bulb. Pick it up and step on the orange flower to spring to the level of the Toad painting. Green Toad says Boos chased him all over. His friend got captured. This Toad also does not like water, so help him out. The back door leads to Grand East.

Grand East
There are two Strong Sneakers here, which will try to use Green Toad as a shield. The hallway splits to the Inner Courtyard and the Restrooms.

Restrooms
There's a Strong Slammer reading a newspaper. Flush the toilet with the red ball and defeat him. The other door to the Restrooms must be restored from the hallway. Flush the toilet for a diamond. The door to the toilet stall will open. Approach the toilet and a Strong Greenie will flush it. Defeat it. The safe in the other restroom has lots of money. At the end of Grand East, the door leads to the Ancient Exhibit.

Ancient Exhibit
It seems like two eyes are staring at you. Activate the "eyes" to make the sand lower. This reveals torches and some sarcophagi. Pull the red ball a few times to reveal the E-Gate. This, however, awakens the mummies. On the bright side, the torches burn up the wrapping, revealing Strong Greenies. Once you're done with them, take Green Toad through the E-Gate, then through the E-Gate to the Jungle Exhibit. Bring the bucket of water back and walk up the ramp on the right. The plant on the left will give you a diamond. Go back and get a piece of wood from the Jungle Exhibit and light it on fire. Go through the E-Gates to the Ice Age Exhibit.

Ice Age Exhibit
Use the fire to thaw all the ice to the left. The pit in the back has an invisible treasure chest with lots of money. Save Pink Toad. Gadd says to pixelate the Toads, although he thinks there's only one of them. Once you leave the part of the room that was iced over, Strong Greenies appear. Once you deal with them, take the Toads to the Inner Courtyard.

Inner Courtyard
Pick up each Toad and shoot him into a cage. This makes Boopa Troopa appear, with 35 HP. Three Strong Sneakers assist it. Restore the gargoyle statue when you're done. Put the Toads in the cages again, stand back, and activate the statue with the Strobulb. This makes a winding staircase to the pixelator screen appear. Return the Toads. Gadd says he forgot two Toads were at the mansion and thought one was a ghost, so he hit one on the nose. (Not sure if Toads have noses, but that's besides the point.) He returns us to the Bunker.

Gadd says we're clumsy and sluggish, but dependable. The fact that he sent two Toads to Treacherous Mansion was a minor detail that got lost in his research. The Toads know nothing about the Dark Moon piece, but say there's lots of activity on the second floor of the mansion. They also have a security camera image.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Treacherous Mansion - E-1 Front-Door Key

The last Dark Moon piece is in Treacherous Mansion and so are some of the highest levels of paranormal activity ever recorded. Gadd says it's a terrible idea for a paranormal investigator to go in there, but not for Luigi. On the bright side, Luigi has a very bushy moustache. Gadd gives us the Front-Door Key so we can get into the mansion easily. Gadd can't pinpoint the Dark Moon piece's current location due to the paranormal interference, so we'll have to look around.

Veranda
We land on the Veranda, which crosses a narrow bridge of rock to the mansion. Below are thunderous waterfalls. If you go back through the gate and use the Strobulb on the gargoyles, you'll get some money, even more from the invisible one on the right. Past the gate is a narrow bridge that we must cross like the beams. The first one is really short. The rocks ahead fall apart, so you'll have to jump to another bridge. All the while, you're looking at the water below. The third bridge is short, but will break when you get close to the other side. You'll stuck at the mansion now. Check out the front door and guess who shows up? As expected, it's the Polterpup, who takes the key and runs off. The gargoyles move so you can go to other parts of the Veranda. To the right, you can look into the window and see a couple of Toads being turned into paintings by King Boo. Through a broken window on the left, you'll see Greenies playing with parts of suits of armor. A little further to the left is an invisible treasure chest with lots of money. Down the stairs, you'll see the Polterpup run off, and a well. Shine the Dark Light on the well to restore a red ball. The doghouse to the right has money. Go down the stairs near the well and you'll see a blocked door. The Polterpup is on the other side, wearing a helmet. We'll have to find another way in, because we don't have any haunted dog treats. This is where the well comes in. Go into the Bottom of the Well.

Bottom of the Well
Peel off the lighter covering on the wall for lots of money. There are lots of mushrooms down here (and none of them give you special powers). Go to the right and pull the tangled vine to break open the wall to the Guard Tunnel.

Guard Tunnel
As expected, the Polterpup runs off when you appear. Aside from looking through the back wall into the Ceremonial Chamber, the only thing you can do is pull another tangle of vines on the right wall. This will make two Strong Greenies appear. They'll pick up swords, so try to vacuum them up at the same time. A Strong Slammer will appear as well. Another Strong Greenie will appear and help it. Once all four ghosts are gone, the path to the right opens up. This leads to the Cliffside.

Cliffside
There's a wheel on the wall that briefly raises the gate ahead. Run quickly to get past it. The spikes will hurt you. The door behind it leads to a part of the Ceremonial Chamber.

Ceremonial Chamber
You can't do anything about the web with the gold bars initially, so go to the left. In the main part of the Chamber, there are suits of armor and gargoyles. Pick up the web ball to the left. You can get the gold bars to the right and light the fuses under the gargoyles. A chair with a suit of armor will appear. Another suit of armor will start moving. Wait until it's over the rug, then pull the rug out from under it. It's a Strong Greenie. Spiders will start appearing. The suit of armor on the chair will move. It's another Strong Greenie. Once you're done, get the money from the chest behind the first suit of armor that moved. Sit in the chair and it will take you further underground to the Haunted Catacombs.

Haunted Catacombs
This place is off the map. It's also a maze. You're supposed to take a certain path to find the Polterpup. If you take the wrong path, you return to the part with the chair. The Polterpup took the correct path, so follow his paw prints. Initially, you'll go closer to the screen, then to the right. The back wall there has a rattling coffin behind the wallpaper. Go to the right once more,  from where the paw prints are, then go towards the back wall, past two suits of armor. Go left to check out the rattling coffin. It's a secret area where you have 10 seconds to collect 8 Red Coins while dodging a couple of suits of armor. It's not much of a maze; just run. Your prize is 5 gold bars. When you return, follow the paw prints again. That will take you to the right, then towards the front wall to a door. To summarize, with front meaning towards the wall closest to the screen and back meaning towards the back wall, go front, front, right, right, back, back, right, front. If you move to the front once more, there's an invisible treasure chest with lots of money. The door leads to the Underground Lab.

Underground Lab
There are Strong Greenies performing a Frankenstein-like experiment on a suit of armor without arms. It rises up a little. Vacuum off their goggles, then get them, as well as the Strong Sneaker. Once they're gone, spin the same wheel to get another bolt of electricity. This will knock the helmet off, revealing Boolldog, with 40 HP. Use the helmet to hit the jar on the wall with a diamond. The door on the right returns you to the Haunted Catacombs, on the other side.

Haunted Catacombs
This maze is a little shorter: front, left. There's another door. If, from the door of the lab, you go right, front, you'll reach a treasure chest with money. From the treasure chest, back, back to the slumped suit of armor, right to the webs, front, front, to another door. Before we check it out, go back, right, back right to a painting of a web ball. Light it on fire, then bring the web ball to the web. Behind the web is a diamond. The door the Polterpup didn't go through leads to the other side of the Cliffside.

Cliffside
Dangling from the vine is a diamond. Vacuum it up. Behind the back wall's covering are lots of gold bars. Vacuum the plants for coins and stun the bats. Wall around to a treasure chest with lots of money. Return to the Haunted Catacombs and go through the door the Polterpup went through to the Dungeon Cells.

Dungeon Cells
The Polterpup was here, but a rumbling scares him off. In one of the barrels is a Strong Hider with 75 HP. Remove the plant from the large barrel to get some water flowing and fill the bucket. Carry the bucket into the first cell, which has a plant. The plant will give you lots of money. Go to the third cell and vacuum the bars. The painting on the wall produces bombs. Blow up the wall in the third cell, then pull the red ball to flip the painting into the second cell and blow up that wall. Enter the second cell from the first cell. The Polterpup is in the barrel and you can catch him now. This will give you the Front-Door Key. Go through the hole in wall in the third cell and Gadd calls. He returns us to the Bunker.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Secret Mine - Severe Infestation

Ghosts have infested the Secret Mine and they seem to be stronger than the ones from infestations in other mansions. Gadd thinks whoever is behind this is trying to regain control over the mansions.

As always, just check the map to see where you have to go. Locations will vary mission to mission. Defeat them as quickly as possible. Be warned that some of them are strong ghosts. Gadd says he could do it faster.

Gadd thinks someone is planning the infestations, probably the same individual that shattered the Dark Moon. But ghosts don't stand a chance against Luigi.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Secret Mine - Chilly Ride

The Dark Moon piece and the possessor are both in the Workshop. Gadd says possessor ghosts showed up when the Dark Moon shattered, so he doesn't know much about them, other than they're the most powerful ghosts in Evershade Valley.

Workshop Landing
Use the Strobulb on the door and go into the Workshop.

Workshop
The possessor ghost is here and flies into the ice in the center of the room, making an ice monster face. It started tunneling. The room shakes and Luigi lands on a device that shoots bombs.

Frozen Pit
The face will freeze over. Use the bombs to break the ice, but be quick about it. The ice will reform after a while. After all the ice is gone, shoot a bomb into the mouth. This will make the possessor ghost appear. He fly all over the room, warping in and out of the area. When it pauses, vacuum off a layer. He'll go back into the ice and you'll have to shoot the ice again. Be sure to hit all the ice pieces quickly, or the shooter will overheat. If it starts smoking, it's game over. After you get the center pieces, aim for the left side of the tunnel, so the pieces will be approaching the bomb from the right as it bounces to the right. As with all possessor ghosts, there are two layers to peel off, and the remaining ghost will give you the Dark Moon piece. Grab it and Gadd calls. The reception is really poor down here. The victory dance is complicated due to ice.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Secret Mines - D-3 Across the Chasm

Gadd's located the Dark Moon piece in the Workshop across the chasm. The pixelator over there isn't working, but we can use a gondola to cross. We can board it at the Terminal.

Chalet
The Chalet is dark and filled with snow. The snow seems to be coming from the fireplace. Vacuum the snow from around the elevator and check out the fireplace. This will take you upstairs. The window's open. Shut it by blowing air. Vacuum the painting on the wall to reveal a safe with lots of money. Spin the wheel on the pillar to make the chandelier rise. The chandelier above will light it. Spin the wheel the opposite way to lower it, which thaws the elevator. Go to the Terminal.

Terminal
The mirror on the back wall is cracked. Remove the snow covering an exploding robot and activate them both to crack the mirror further, revealing more exploding robots. Behind the mirror is a gondola. Approach it, and three strong ghosts with chains appear and seal it off. We'll need to defeat all of them to access the gondola.

Basin
The Strong Gobber is here. Restore the invisible exploding robot on the back wall and activate it. The Strong Gobber will disappear and Hiders will appear. Deal with the Hiders, which is difficult due to the ice, then deal with the Strong Gobber, with 300 HP. Keep moving to avoid his goop. You'll get a couple of hearts when you defeat him. This removes the yellow chain.

Crossroads
The Strong Greenie is the Smuggler's Hideout, so you'll pass by through here. Restore the invisible mine cart (you'll have to go through the E-Gate to capture the Spirit Balls) for a sapphire.

Smuggler's Hideout
One suit of armor is missing and the other is rattling. Restore the missing suit of armor and the Strong Greenie will appear and open the window to let some Sneakers in. Shut the window and deal with them. The Strong Greenie has 100 HP. Defeating him will break the green chain. Keep going down into the mine if you're treasure-hunting. Otherwise, go to the Chalet.

Deep Hall
Restore the kettle and pull it over the fire to make ParaBoola appear. ParaBoola has 35 HP.

Crystal Quarry
There's an E-Gate here. Activate it and go through it to return to the Chalet. You'll land on the couch, revealing a sapphire.

Chalet
Check the drawers near the pixelator screen to reveal the Strong Slammer. He'll go into the fireplace. Go near the fireplace and Greenies will appear, one with a shield. Once the Greenies are gone, the Strong Slammer will appear. It has 250 HP. Defeating it will remove the red chain. Return to the Terminal and enter the gondola.

Gondola
The gondola doesn't move anymore, but it has a gun like the one in the Haunted Towers. This one shoots flaming coals to melt ice. Thaw all of the ziplines, the tree near the crow's nest, and the treasure chest on the right. The tree will split and fall.

High Wires
Use the first zipline to cross to the crow's nest. Cross the fallen tree like a balance beam. The outhouse on the other side leads to a secret area. You have 60 seconds to hit all three Hiders with snowballs. After each successful hit, you'll get money. They'll throw snowballs at you, but they won't hurt. Defeat all three for a sapphire. Cross using the next zipline. You'll see King Boo going towards a mountain. The chest you thawed earlier has lots of money. Go through the gondola door to the Workshop Landing.

Workshop Landing
The Workshop is just across the beams. Explosions are going on inside. There are crows that fly over the beam with gold bars, so hop back and forth, or the crows will knock you off. If you look into the window, you'll see a possessor ghost throwing bombs at a purple fuzzy monster. Go through the door on the right to the Maintenance Room.

Maintenance Room
There's a conveyor belt with money and crystals. Gadd says we need to activate the generator to open the Workshop. There's an exploding robot on the belt as well. Toss it into the slots high in the back wall. Shoot multiple robots in, one at a time, and activate them to clear the obstacles. Once all three lights are on, the generator restores power. Unfortunately, this causes a rumble in the area and you're snowed in.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon -- Secret Mine - D-2 Hit Rock Bottom

Gadd's processed the image, so we take a look. There are ghosts stuck in red crystals. The painting in the sack is here, but it's upside down. The feet don't look like they belong to Toad. Gadd thinks it must be very important. Toad says that the crystals have strengthening powers. King Boo's shadow is on the ground. The Boos are running amok extracting crystals. The image was take just before we arrived at the Secret Mine, so they might still be there. We need to check out the Crystal Quarry. Gadd has E-Gates we can use.

Chalet
We land in the Chalet. Restore the rocking chair to make Booger, with 35 HP, appear. If you want to start the mission, go down the elevator into the Airway. Skip down to that section to start the mission. Many of the sapphires are available elsewhere. Go outside to the Chalet Approach.

Chalet Approach
There's a chicken or turkey on the grill. Activate the grill so it catches fire, pick it up, and bring it to the dogsled. Thaw the painting out for a sapphire.

Prospector's Crossing
Here, you'll find a sapphire in the ice. You can't break the ice like in the last mission, so spin the pickaxe after you restore it. Two pieces of wood will appear. Put them on the ice, which will make the ice break when you stand on it.

Airway
This sapphire's sneaky. Look into the binoculars at the mouth of the cave where the strong gusts come from. You'll see the sapphire and a bat will carry it and drop it into a barrel. Go through the door on the left to the Crossroads.

Crossroads
Here we find the E-Gates Gadd mentioned. Activate them with the Strobulb. The E-Gates act as portals. Go through the first E-Gate and pick up the key in ice. Take it back through the E-Gate and hold it near the lantern to thaw it out. This unlocks the door on the other side of the E-Gate. The door leads to Skip Slope.

Skip Slope
It's like the slide under Old Clockworks. Peel off the poster for lots of money. Start down the slide. Run into snow piles for coins and money. Keep to the right to get a key. At the bottom is an E-Gate. Activate it so you can return to the top of the slide. If you pull the rope to the left, a bucket with three gold mice will appear. If you're treasure-hunting, go down the slide again, but keep to the left. Past the spinning wheel is a sapphire. When you're ready to move on, check the barrel at the bottom of the slide. It has some fan blades to spin that raise the lockers to reveal a door. This leads to the Smuggler's Hideout.

Smuggler's Hideout
There's a painting here. Peel off the painting on top and use the Dark Light to get some money. There are a couple suits of armor here, and a lit fire. Use the fire to thaw out all frozen things. As you approach the door, the window will fly open and gold bats, Greenies, and a Sneaker will appear. Once you defeat them, blow air on the window to shut it, then finish thawing the door. The door leads to the Shaft.

Shaft
Blow air on the wheel to make the elevator go down. Keep an eye out for treasure on the walls. You'll see ghosts carrying red crystals. One of them will be a Gold Greenie you can catch. Near the bottom, there's a red ball attached to a chain. Pull the chain, then go up partway. There will be a sapphire in an alcove. At the bottom, clear away the snow, then check the crank on the door. It will flip around to Coward's Chasm.

Coward's Chasm
At first, there seems to be no way across the gap until you walk behind the mirrored ice wall. The wheel on the right wall raises and lowers the lantern dangling from above. Lower it to the part that looks like a mouth and three gold bats appear. Go through the door on the right to the Deep Hall.

Deep Hall
Gadd's reception is poor, but he thinks we're at the bottom of the mine. The Crystal Quarry should be nearby. The last part is a warning, but he breaks up too much. If you look into the Crystal Quarry, you'll see some ghost that are nervous about being in the crystal and want out. Check out the hole in the wall on the left to see a Gold Greenie with a key. When you're done looking, a Sneaker will trip you. The Gold Greenie will appear. Take care of them both. Go through the door on the right to the Pit Mine.

Pit Mine
Blow air on the wheel to lower the elevator. At the bottom, pull the rope on the engine to start the conveyor belt. This will make bugs appear. Go to the right and spin the wheel on the hopper to load three pieces of coal onto the conveyor belt. The coal will appear in the Deep Hall via an E-Gate. Return via elevator.

Deep Hall
Pick up a piece of coal and light it. Use it on the ice near the red ball to reveal another red ball, and on the piece of ice holding a sapphire on the ceiling to the right of the E-Gate. Pull the other red ball and go through the door to the Cinder Mine.

Cinder Mine
There's a piece of wood here, but no fire. Spin the valve to make a fire appear in the pipes. Use it to thaw the ice on the left wall, which reveals a couple of bags of coal. This can be shot at the key to thaw it out.

Deep Hall
There are two Greenies in here, one with a welding mask and another with a piece of crystal. Defeat them and go through the door into the Crystal Quarry.

Crystal Quarry
The Boos inside spot us, and leave. The ghosts in the crystals are enraged, and get the same mottled look as the Strong Sneaker that stole the rotor in Old Clockworks. They still can't get out, but disappear when you get closer to the crystals. In the meantime, restore the mine cart for lots of money. Shine the Dark Light on the crystals and you'll see that the ghosts are scared and trying to escape. Approach one crystal and check it out. The ghost will break free. The Strong Sneaker has 100 HP. The other two will break free once you defeat the first one. The Strong Greenie has 50 HP, while the Strong Slammer has 150. Gadd will bring you back once you defeat them.
