The bros have just defeated Antasma and have breached the castle's defense set up by Corporal Paraplonk, Sergeant Guy, and Private Goomp. At the top of the stairs past the elevator is Peach, in a cage. She calls to the bros. Before the bros can reach her, Bowser destroys the floor in front of the cage. Starlow and Dreambert tell Bowser to relinquish the Dream Stone. Starlow backs away. Bowser says he'll use the Dream Stone to make the bros disappear. He tries, but Starlow and Peach zap him with beams of good thoughts. Dreambert tells them to destroy Bowser and the Dream Stone, saying it's better destroyed than in Bowser's hands. They ramp up the power and the Dream Stone shatters. Bowser isn't ready to give up and inhales the Dream Stone fragments. He doesn't find them palatable. They transform him into a larger, rainbow version of himself. Dreambert and Starlow try to stop him, but he's too powerful. Dreambert fully heals the bros. Bowser's enjoying his new power and is going to take over the world. The battle starts.
You can attack Bowser or either of his arms. Attack his arms first so he can't use them. Take out the left arm first as the right one will block Bowser's head. Bowser will summon minions and some meat that he'll inhale in the background. Shy Guys will bounce over the bros, Bob-ombs will explode if landed on, and Koopas will go into their shells. Stomp the shells to hit the enemies behind them. After a couple of turns, Bowser will return. He will chase the bros with three rows of flames. Jump over the flames when he moves. He'll also jump, creating a shockwave to dodge. He'll also summon a Dreamy Shy Guy Airtub that will chase a bro, spewing fire. Jump to dodge. The other bro is on board, so hit their button to deal with the Shy Guys. The flame may shrink the bro. Bowser can summon a hammer which will hit a bro and unleash a shockwave. He'll target the bro by flipping a coin. Counter with the hammer. Bowser can also breathe fire and split into two while doing so. Jumping to dodge at the same time won't work. Attacking Bowser's head after dealing with the arms will do critical damage. Bowser will pick up a bro and throw him. Press the other bro's button repeatedly to line up with the other bro to catch them. This battle can take a long time, especially if Bowser frequently heals. Hit him with your best Bros. Attacks. He has around 2400 HP.
The Dream Stone shatters again, returning Bowser to normal. The bros hit him into the cage, then away from the castle. The impact opens the cage and Peach thanks the bros. She thinks everyone on the island should be safe now, but the castle starts collapsing. Everyone retreats. The bros have to go back the way they came, so back down the rainbow ramp. Bob-ombs will drop in from the sky. They catch up and most of the castle has already collapsed. The castle, along with their escape route, falls away. The piece of stone they're standing on breaks apart and falls. The Zeekeeper catches Mario, Luigi, and Peach. As they fly off, the castle explodes.
In front of Pi'illo Castle, Peach asks if the bros are okay. The Zeekeeper drops in, saying it was cool that he caught them at the last second. He's feeling pretty good, so everything he's done is on the house, meaning the bros won't have to find 80 million coins. Toadsworth appears, saying he was worried sick. Dreambert, Eldream, and a couple of Pi'illos appear with a bottle of something. Dreambert says is the dust that burst from Bowser. Peach apologizes for destroying it, but Dreambert says the Dream Stone can be restored. The Zeekeeper zaps it with a beam and it turns into a giant coin, a Dream Coin. Dreambert is shocked. The Zeekeeper gives the advice to not rely on the Dream Stone or other things, but to rely on oneself and each other. He says to use the Dream Coin to make all dreams come true. He flies off, declaring his love for coins. The Zeekeeper flies through the Dream Coin, shattering it into many smaller coins that rain down. Broque Monsieur says it's the ultimate tourist attraction. Peach finally gets Dreambert's attention and he recovers from his shock. Peach thanks him and thinks the Pi'illo Kingdom can be revived. He says they will take the advice of the Zeekeeper and restore the kingdom with their own hands. He thanks the bros and tells them to enjoy Pi'illo Island on the ultimate vacation. The bros agree.
Up in the air, Bowser, Kamek, Goomp, Guy, and Paraplonk are flying on the Clown Copter. Bowser wants to fly faster, but Kamek wants to lay low for a while. Bowser blames Antasma for their failure. He says the minions did pretty well by their usual standards, which is the best compliment they'll ever get out of Bowser. Bowser says he will keep kidnapping Peach over and over until he's successful. Losing and giving up are not options. The minions declare their undying loyalty while Bowser says he'll be back. He calls Luigi by his name for once when coins start raining down. The minions get excited and jostle the Clown Copter, making it drop out of the sky. Roll credits!
At the end, you get some game stats. Here are mine:
Time to Clear: 65:46
Mario and Luigi's Final Levels: 43
Excellent Rate: 85%
Block-Recovery Rate: 94%
Enemies Defeated: 6036
Escapes: 1
Times KO'd: 28
Times Damaged: 1548
Mushrooms Eaten: 140
For finishing the game, I unlocked the Jukebox and Hard Mode. This was a fun and imaginative game. I had a great time playing the latest game in my favorite part of the Mario series. Aside from the technical difficulties, I wished that Fawful had made an appearance somewhere. This was probably one of the longer games in the series. I hope you enjoyed the summer of Mario and Luigi as much as I enjoyed playing the games. Stay tuned to see what game is next.

Mario and Luigi: Dream Team -- Part 16: Return to the Depths
The bros have returned to the real world after finding out that Peach has already been kidnapped and the one they've been dealing with is a fake. Broque Madame informed them that the proprietor of Pi'illo Island, Dr. Snoozemore, has returned, so they return to Pi'illo Castle. Broque Monsieur tells the bros that his promotional tour has ended and that he is in the underground collection room. Go south from the warp pipe, down the stairs, and through the doorway at the bottom.
Dr. Snoozemore is here and welcomes the bros. He falls asleep from time to time. Dreambert says the island is in chaos. Snoozemore is amazed to see a Pi'illo. He receives an explanation and understands. They want to infiltrate Neo Bowser Castle and take down Antasma, but can't right now. Snoozemore mentions the Zeekeeper. He says the Zeekeeper lived in harmony with the Pi'illos and protected the kingdom from danger. Snoozemore says to find the Zeekeeper somewhere in the dream world and convince him to help. Dreambert says the Zeekeeper possesses a beam that could shatter the castle's barrier. Snoozemore asks if Dreambert has seen anything Zeekeeper-related in the dream world. Dreambert mentions seeing a strange statue of the Zeekeeper in Dreamy Pi'illo Castle. It might have a clue. Luigi takes a nap and Mario enters the dream world.
Dreambert mentions seeing a Zeekeeper statue behind the Pi'illo symbol door. He opens the door for the bros. There's a light coming out of the floor, like the light that leads to Dream's Deep. Follow the light back into Dream's Deep. This part of Dream's Deep has a Zeekeeper statue. Dreambert learned here how to summon the Zeekeeper long ago. He says it's not easy to call him and he doesn't remember how. He says to look around for clues.
On the right wall is a switch. Hitting it makes one of the circles on the Zeekeeper light up. Follow the dotted lines to either the left or right. To the right are Dark Blocks, which are enemies. Some may transform before you hit them. Hit them from above if you can. In battle, they will hover over Mario. Hit them from below to count down from a certain number. They move around, making this difficult. Once they count down to zero, they change appearance. If they don't count down to zero, they'll transform and attack. They'll also fly overhead with spikes and brick blocks. Try to hit them or they'll transform. If they change appearance and you hit them as part of your attack, they'll turn into item blocks and give you something. They can transform back into Dark Blocks if they are not defeated quickly enough.
There's a constellation Luiginary Work to the right. Dreambert did not think one would appear and doesn't think there's a lot of room to maneuver. Dreamy Luigi says his mind has opened to another shape. Send him into the Work, then press [R] twice to make the Luiginoids form a ball. Use the Circle Pad to roll around. Build up enough speed while going to the left to reach new heights. Roll to the right. Roll around and you'll eventually reach a dead end. A Luiginoid says they can form a chain to grab onto stuff, like the loop floating around. Press (B) to make a chain of Luiginoids pop out and aim, then (B) again to fire. If you attack to something and want to let go, press (A). This new move is called the Hookshot. Grab onto the loop to the upper right that's on a track. The loop will be target when the bros are aimed correctly. It will take you up to a higher part. Roll to the right, off the ledge, and drop down. Roll to the left, remove Luigi from the Work, go up the stairs and you'll find another switch. This makes another circle on the Zeekeeper light up. Go to the lower left.
Walk to the left and the area will wrap around to the right, but a little higher than before. Walk to the left for a coin, then walk back right to wrap up even higher. Walk to the left to reach the Work. There are wheels overhead to Hookshot to, allowing you to climb up. Wait for the right wheel to be target to Hookshot to it. Go to the left twice. Walk over the rocks, then drop down between them. Form the ball and the bros get an idea to have Mario swing the ball around like an Olympic hammer. This breaks the rocks. In ball form, just press (A). Pressing (A) again will make Mario throw the ball and it will come back. You can aim with the Circle Pad. Dreambert calls is the Ball Hammer. Return to the right. Swing the Ball Hammer at the lower set of rocks without throwing it to destroy them all as they fall. Hookshot to the loop. Destroy the rocks at the top to reach the switch. Now that all three circles have lit up, go right to return to the Zeekeeper statue.
In the light, symbols appear. Dreambert says they're Pi'illo characters. They say, "All those who seek the Zeekeeper's powe, you must make the Ultibed. It is constructed of five parts. The Pajamaja Rock Frame... It rests on Mount Pajamaja. The Dozing Mattresss... sleeps in Dozing Sands. The Mushrise Tree Board... rises in Mushrise Fields. Driftwood Jellyfish Sheets... drift on Driftwood Shore. The Zeekeeper's Feathers... An heirloom of Pi'illo Castle. All five parts must be assembled by a Bedsmith. The Bedsmiths will gather on Wake Isle. Find the five parts and give them to a Bedsmith. Only then can the Ultibed be completed." And you thought "making a bed" entailed tidily arranging pillows and sheets. Dreambert mentions some of the names may have changed slightly but refer to the same location. Something drops down. It's a pamphlet of what Dreambert just translated. He says if Luigi sleeps on the Ultibed, they should be able to enter the dream world where the Zeekeeper is. The manual can be found in the menu under "Guide". It suggests the bros go to Mount Pajamaja first.
Exit Dream's Deep and Broque Monsieur calls to someone to wait. A Gold Beanie runs past the bros through the door. Broque Monsieur drops in, saying that was the rarest of monsters. He says there's a nice prize for beating it. Dreambert says it only exists in dreams and those who defeat it reap great rewards. Maybe it only appears in dreams on Pi'illo Island. It flees the moment it is seen. The bros accept the challenge, but Dreambert reminds them their priority is the Ultibed. If they find one on the way, they can battle it. Return to the real world. Dreambert brings Starlow and Snoozemore up to speed. While you're here, you can explore new areas of the castle from the room where the moving platform into the depths of the castle is. One of the rooms has a wrestling ring in it. A Brock outside says there's a rumor of a place where one can fall asleep and battle champions. Dreambert says this place hasn't changed. He says it's the Battle Ring, a Dreampoint where you can dream about fighting foes you've already encountered that are even stronger. Prizes are awarded for victory. When you're ready, head for Mount Pajamaja. If you're traveling by warp pipe, select the base of the mountain, as we don't know where the Rock Frame is.
Dr. Snoozemore is here and welcomes the bros. He falls asleep from time to time. Dreambert says the island is in chaos. Snoozemore is amazed to see a Pi'illo. Mario and Luigi: Dream Team -- Part 13: Surf, Sand, and Seahorses
The bros defeated Mount Pajamaja, which reopened the portal to the real world. Dreambert explains the situation to Starlow and Bowser and Antasma appear. Antasma says the Dream Stone has been restored. They take off to start their conquest. Starlow says that Peach is in danger and wants to go to the castle immediately. Dreambert says to wait as he remembers something. He pulls out a block from behind a rock. It's the Warp Pipe Block. Mario hits it, sending out golden warp pipes all over the island. Dreambert says they'll make traveling on the island easier. He hid the block before battling Antasma and forgot about it. He says there's on in the cave on the left and another in Pi'illo Castle. Unfortunately, new warp pipes will not activate until you use them at least once, so if you see one, use it then. Go into the cave and stand on the warp pipe. You can only choose the Pi'illo Castle Lobby for now.
You'll wind up in one of the back passages of the castle, where there's a Shelltop scrubbing floors. He's awake, so either people are waking up or the Dreambeats didn't reach him. Go up the stairs and into the lobby. Everyone else seems to be awake in the castle. A Brock says Peach and Toadsworth went to Driftwood Shore, thinking it would be safer while waiting for the bros to return. The bros leave for Driftwood Shore.
Meanwhile, at the summit of Mount Pajamaja, Bowser, his minions, and Antasma return. They're ready to conquer the world, but need ideas on what to do first. Corporal Paraplonk suggests stealing the world's food, then eating it. Sergeant Guy thinks of a fan club with rewards. Antasma says they'll need a castle, a new castle for just them as a base from which to conquer the world. Antasma wishes for the castle and one appears in the sky. It looks like a Bowser-style castle with lots of purple. Bowser likes it and wants to call it Neo Bowser Castle. Antasma wants to test out the castle, so he fires energy beams, destroying the smaller surrounding islands. The castle protects itself with a force field. It's Bowser's turn to make a wish.
People rush out of Pi'illo Castle, panicking about Neo Bowser Castle's appearance and the destruction of the surrounding islands. Starlow says they must hurry to Driftwood Shores to protect Peach. Before we do so, we open some more Warp Pipes and check in with Eldream. We've saved 26 Pi'illos so far. For saving 18, he gives a Birthday Ring. For 26, he gives Golden Wear. He'll give a gift at 37 Pi'illos next time. We also decrypt the image from the Camera Block. The fastest way there is to warp to the Dozing Sands Entrance, then head west.
Driftwood Shores has some lively, fun music. It also has Attack Pieces. Go south and a couple of Brocks will halt the bros' progress. Luigi tries to get past with no avail until one of them says Mario exudes justice and mustache. Mario and Luigi are recognized, but poor Luigi is deemed completely inconsequential. They said Peach came to the beach to escape Bowser, so they closed the beach down to keep suspicious types out. They let the bros through, saying Peach is waiting for them. Go east for now, ignoring the Attack Piece. This will take you to the shop area, where there's a warp pipe. Activate it and return. There's a building nearby with familiar architecture. A Brock employee takes them into the shop, saying Peach is waiting for them in the back of the store. It's a very nice boutique. To the left is the Silver Shop. It has new gear that can be a little expensive. When you're ready, go to the back room.
On a bed, a female Brock is getting a massage. This Brock has a French accent. She notices the bros and tells them not to tell anyone about her back therapy. As expected, she is Broque Madame and she owns the shop. She was waiting for them so she could show them something. Her masseur and masseuse are really Toadsworth and Peach. Peach really packs a punch in her massage. The two of them have been hiding since the Dream Stone was restored. They are fine, but Peach is rightly afraid of going outside with Bowser's new castle hovering about. Broque Madame says her shop isn't so safe, as Bowser could attack at any time. Toadsworth asks the bros to help find safer lodging for the princess. Broque Madame suggests the dream world, which eerily parallels a concept from somewhere else. She says there are many places on the beach where Luigi could fall asleep. Unless they're indoors, it sounds a bit risky. Broque Madame says there's a Dreampoint close to the shop. Toadsworth sends the bros to find the Dreampoint, then call for them when they find it. If you talk to Broque Madame, she'll ask the bros to enter her dreams and liven things up a bit, as she's bored. She's serious.
In Broque Madame's dreams, you'll battle with her using Luiginary Attacks, trying to get high scores. It's an endless mode challenge. She'll give you prizes for beating the rank scores.
When you're ready, leave the shop. Walk to the right to find an Attack Piece. To the right is a pillow on a tall rock. In the southeast corner, a tour group is meeting, with Popple in attendance. The tour guide mentions that there are many seahorse statues along the beach. Their purpose and their creator's identity are unknown. So little about them is known that they're one of the Seven Wonder of Pi'illo Island. The tour group gets some free time to wander before the tour continues. Popple's upset because he heard something really rare was here. He leaves. You can't cross the water using the Side Drill or Spin Jump, so go up on the rocks and send Mini Mario to the moving blue platform to the left. Hit the switch to create a bridge between the beach and the small island. The statues move and start spewing water. The tour guide ends the tour to tell everyone about the major discovery. Cross to the island and go west.
There are two Attack Pieces here and a Dreampoint nearby. Hit the orange ! Block to activate an elevating platform. From it, Spin Jump to the left, then cross to the right on the taller rocks. Hit the switch to form the bridge. Cross to the other side and you'll see the Dreampoint. It's a circular inflatable pool lounger, like an inner tube with the hole filled in. Starlow tells Luigi to take a nap while she retrieves Peach. Toadsworth entrusts her care to Mario. Starlow suggests sending her as deep into the dream world as possible. He picks her up and carries her through the portal.
Once in the dream world, Peach takes a look around, saying it's mysterious. She's surprised when she sees Dreamy Luigi, wondering how he got here. Mario explains and she understands. Mario and Luigi will scout ahead, so Peach should stay put. This may put her in a vulnerable position so close to the portal. Dreambert offers to keep her company, but she politely declines as there isn't any danger in the area... yet. To the right is an Attack Piece next to a blue pipe. It leads to Broque Madame, running another shop. Return to where Peach is and go left.
Aside from something blowing bubbles, there's nothing here, not even another path. Check out the bubble blower and Mario pulls it out. Press (A) repeatedly. What emerges from the sand is a coiled seahorse. It recognizes Mario and says it's been waiting for him. The seahorse knows what goes on in the real world, as it's a Seadring, a dream genie. His name is Seadric and the statues in the real world are modeled after him. He says this part of the dream world is small, but doesn't have enemies. Peach walks in because she got a little scared. She asks if the place will be safe and Dreambert voices his concerns over the proximity to the portal. Seadric says that a Dream Egg would expand the dream world, as there isn't much more to this part of the dream world. Dream Eggs hold more dreams. Seadric lays them, but it takes about 6 months for him to do so. For a quick fix, his brothers could help out. The bros can reach his brothers and sister by using other Driftwood Shore Dreampoints. He alerts his siblings that Mario and Luigi will be over to pick up a Dream Egg from each of them. Seadric warns them his siblings can be annoying and chatty. Seadric disappears, so Peach is on her own over here. Return to the real world to find the other Dreampoints.
You'll wind up in one of the back passages of the castle, where there's a Shelltop scrubbing floors. He's awake, so either people are waking up or the Dreambeats didn't reach him. Go up the stairs and into the lobby. Everyone else seems to be awake in the castle.

Mario and Luigi: Dream Team -- Part 1: Dreamy Powers
Inside the portal, Mario hears Peach scream and sees some purple fog carry her off. Swim around to the portal using (A) to follow them. A voice says, "This place... divides... the real... and the dream." A pink bubble appears, saying, "You are now... entering... the dream world... Help... Help me..." Swim through the portal. Mario enters a brick building. Peach calls for him as the purple fog carries her off. Go to the right. The fog carries Peach farther to the right. Jump up the platforms, then take the moving platform to the left, where you'll find Broque Monsieur. He says to tilt the Circle Pad up to enter doorways. Go through the doorway, as you can't reach the area where Peach was taken.
Broque Monsieur is in the next area and will help you if you get lost. There are three more doorways and an item block to the right. The second door from the left leads to an item block with a nut. The second door from the right leads to two more doors below. From there, enter the middle door and Luigi appears. Mario pauses, then freaks out. Broque Monsieur warps down and Mario explains that Luigi is asleep in the real world. Luigi talks in his sleep while Starlow hovers around. Broque Monsieur says that this is Luigi, but not the real one. This one is how Luigi sees himself in the dream world, Dreamy Luigi. There are a few subtle changes to Dreamy Luigi, in that he is taller and a bit more handsome. His mustache has also improved, making him a dreamboat. Dreamy Luigi will help Mario. Broque Monsieur warps out of the area and the bros hug, making the real Luigi laugh. The other two doors that haven't been explored warp between the top and bottom floors. When you're ready, go to the right, through the door.
There's a Save Block ahead. Go to the right. The fog grows eyes and carries Peach farther to the right. The doorway leads to a shop run by Broque Monsieur. When you're done there, return and hit the orange ! Block. This makes a wall become a platform and releases a Dromba. Dreamy Luigi warps into Mario and Broque Monsieur appears. Dreamy Luigi now dwells within Mario, making him a little stronger. There are lots of Drombas to attack. Jump on a Dromba and many Dreamy Luigi duplicates, called Luiginoids, will drop down on other enemies. The Drombas will attack and the Circle Pad icon will appear, meaning Mario can move and jump. He can move in a line so he can counterattack more. If you move Mario in line with a line of enemies, he can stomp more of them. Luigi gains experience from dream world battles.
Broque Monsieur says the enemies only get stronger from here, so the bros must beat weaker enemies to defeat stronger ones. Jump up and go right. There are item blocks on the platforms above. Heal and save, then go right. The fog is ahead, still carrying Peach. It starts a battle. It creates a bunch of Marios for Mario to battle. They are called Dreamy Marios. They attack by dive-bombing Mario or running into him. When they run into him, if Mario stomps on them, they will dive-bomb him, so just jump over them. When you jump on them, one will remain. Keep an eye on that one to attack it. Sometimes the fog will send coins, Mushrooms, and fireballs at Mario. Use the Circle Pad to move to dodge fireballs and collect the items. The fireballs will cause Mario to lose coins. Sometimes the fog will carry Peach into the background and Mario will follow. Steer left and right, and jump to dodge the oncoming Marios. The fog will try to obscure your vision. If Mario's hit, he'll go back to battling Dreamy Marios.
After the Dreamy Marios are defeated, the fog will destroy the floor ahead, drag Peach down, then reform the floor. A light shines ahead, saying, "Keep going... You're so close... The nightmare chunk... Break it..." Go ahead to the right. The light appears behind a large purple chunk. Mario chips away at it by jumping. This reveals what looks like an orange pillow with a face. It says, "Ahhhhhhhh... I am at one with freedom. Are you the kind souls who set me free? I am in your debt. Thank you for freeing me. You want to know who I am? I see. You don't know who I am... INSOLENCE! Ahem... I am Prince Dreambert of the Pi'illo Kingdom. What? A princess was abducted? She's in the dream world? Hmmm... It seems some evil befell the real world in my absence... We must return to that world at once. Naught remains to do here. OK, are we ready?" The rock pillow starts sparkling and Mario returns via the portal.
Toadsworth asks about Peach. The rock pillow starts shaking and Luigi wakes up, closing the portal. The pillow turns into Prince Dreambert, this time, with a body. He introduces himself, shocking everyone in the room. Broque Monsieur said no one thought the treasured pillow was the prince himself, which explains why it was guarded. Prince Dreambert says his soul's essence was trapped within a chunk of solid nightmare. The bros set him free. Broque Monsieur thinks that the Pi'illo people may still exist and says that there are rocks shaped like pillows on the island. They may be other Pi'illo people. Dreambert takes off. Toadsworth thinks the fiend who kidnapped Peach may have something to do with Dreambert. Starlow says they should follow Dreambert.

Mario and Luigi: Dream Team -- Save the Princess. Save the Island. In Luigi's Dreams.
One day... A blimp flies over the Mushroom Kingdom towards Peach's Castle. The blimp lowers to reveal that Broggy is aboard. He delivers an invitation to Pi'illo Island in style through the top tower of the castle. It reads, "-To Fair Princess Peach and Her Subjects- An island of luxury awaits: Pi'illo Island! Our staff wishes to wait on you! Come! Take a vacation with us! -From the Pi'illo Island Proprietor" Peach, Toadsworth, and some Toads take up the invitation, not knowing what awaits them there. Mario jumps aboard the blimp, but Luigi jumps as the gangplank retreats and falls, but manages to jump up and climb aboard.
While traveling, Toadsworth mentions he's never heard of Pi'illo Island and feels uneasy about the trip. Broggy gets upset at the idea that they might just return home. On his back, a screen appears. The man onscreen is the proprietor of Pi'illo Island, Dr. Snoozemore. He's researching the science of sleep. On Pi'illo Island is a special power that makes one sleep soundly. He asks that they enjoy their trip and relax. He mentions another passenger aboard who is very interesting. Once he logs off, something purple lands on deck. Purple gas spews from it. From the gas appear two hands, which knock everybody overboard, except Peach, Toadsworth, and Mario. The gas takes the shape of a caped figure. A battle starts.
Toadsworth provides battle instruction. The enemy will split up into several bats and attack Mario. Some will pass by or over him, but jump over the ones headed straight for him. All you need are a couple of solid jump attacks to finish the enemy. The enemy rises up and bursts the dirigible's balloon and it plummets. Broggy appears with Dr. Snoozemore onscreen to say that the next stop is Pi'illo Island. They crash into the blimp port.
Luigi flails about on deck once they land, then runs around, then off the ship. Everyone else is there. A Toad asks if Luigi was dreaming again. Soon, block people appear and greet them. The first stop on the tour is Pi'illo Castle. Toadsworth is upset that Dr. Snoozemore isn't there to greet them personally on arrival. A block person says he's away on a business errand, spreading word about the island to boost tourism. It will be a short while before he returns and can greet them in person. Another block person provides basic movement instruction: Circle Pad to move, (A) to jump, talk to people, and read signs. There is a Save Button in the upper right corner of the Touch Screen. The Toads say to go on ahead and let them wake Luigi up. Just east of the blimp port, a crowd is gathered and cheers Mario on. They welcome him and say the castle is just ahead. One block person explains that there are both Save Blocks to use, as well as the Save Button mentioned previously.
Ahead, Mario catches up with Peach, while a block person fires up the crowd mentioning visiting the castle and coins. It is Broque Monsieur, the MC and tour guide. He introduces the 612th Pi'illo Island Welcome Quiz. He welcomes Peach and her travel companions. He thinks he and Mario may have met before. The quiz rewards correct answers with coins, but there is no penalty for an incorrect answer. The first part is the Check-X quiz. If the answer to the question is true, talk to the Brock staff standing on the green checkmark on the floor. If it is false, talk to the Brock on the red X on the floor. The first question is "This island is named Pi'illo Island." True
Question 2: "Dr. Sneezemore is the island's leader." False
Each correct answer will get you 5 coins. After the brief quiz, the gates to the castle open.
Ahead are some Toads and some item blocks. Previously on the island was a prosperous kingdom led by the Zeekeeper guardian, the kingdom's deity. Broque Monsieur tells Mario to continue on to the castle. There are more item blocks ahead, just west of the castle. Mario catches up with the princess just ahead. Broque Monsieur is there, and glowing purple, with his upside-down angry face. He's impressed they came so far. He says they will be served as dinner to hungry monsters. Inside the cage behind him are two rock creatures. Mario jumps to protect Peach and the rock monsters jump on Broque Monsieur's head. They knock him away and another battle starts.
Toadsworth is here to help. He explains damage done and how to execute Excellent jump attacks. He also explains how to dodge attacks. The Gromba will throw a rock at Mario. The Gromba will take quite a few hits. After the battle, the experience gained makes a flag rise up a flagpole.
Afterwards, Peach and Toadsworth wonder what's going on. They and the Toads will stay behind while Mario checks things out ahead. To the east is Broque Monsieur with another cage. Things didn't go well initially, so he is angrier and has prepared something else. It's another Gromba, which he says is stronger and ravenous. When ordered to attack, the Gromba promptly falls asleep. Toadsworth says to stomp the Gromba to get the first strike.
In this battle, there are two Grombas. They will roll into you, allowing Toadsworth to explain counterattacks. After defeating an enemy, a present may appear with an item won in battle. After the battle, Broque Monsieur flips his head, saying mistakes were made, but it was quite a spectacle. Peach and company appear, asking if it was an act. Broque Monsieur says it was one of the events planned for their arrival. Broque Monsieur continues on. Peach thanks Mario for his help, but wonders what happened to Luigi. One of the Toads that was keeping an eye on him says he's still sleeping. He says they should go on ahead.
Ahead is another crowd to guide Mario to the southeast. The castle is ahead and Peach is waiting. Luigi runs up to the entrance to the castle. He took part in the Welcome Quiz and won some coins. In total, they won 50. Broque Monsieur offers another game to line the coffers. This game is Coin-Up Challenge. A pole drops down and Mario and Luigi step on the platforms. The bros must alternate hitting the blocks above them to raise the platform. You have 25 seconds to get as high as you can to increase the coin multiplier. It's a bit more difficult to reach the top than it sounds. Reaching the top multiplies the coins by three and coins rain down. As a prize for reaching the top, they get a 1-up Deluxe. They also get a Mushroom as a participation prize. The games are done and they enter the castle.
Starlow is in the castle already. She's representing the Star Sprites once again, as they received an invitation. She's happy to see everyone, but says Luigi looks a little ragged. Broque Monsieur says Luigi should heal with a Mushroom. [Start] opens the menu screen. The menu responds to touch. Broque Monsieur says they should check out the castle. Luigi joins up with Mario. There are people from all over here, including the Beanbean Kingdom. Yoshi is over by the gift shop. Due west is the staff break room with some item blocks. Once you're done checking things out, talk to Broque Monsieur. He says they've prepared a special event for Peach and her companions ahead.
The door opens and they walk into another room. The lights dim and Dr. Snoozemore appears on a projection screen. He is going to tell them of the island's lore. It was the Pi'illo Kingdom, home of the Pi'illo folk. It suddenly fell over a short time and disappeared. What happened to it is a mystery they're still trying to solve. Another mystery sleeps deep within Pi'illo Castle, perhaps a treasure hidden there since the time of the kingdom's existence. Deeper passages have been discovered. Peach is fascinated by this idea. She steps on the platform and the screen retracts, revealing rails into a deeper part of the castle. Toadsworth goes up and tells her to get off the platform, but its rockets appear and shuttle them off into the distance, leaving everyone else behind. Broque Monsieur says there's an ancient hidden area there. The platform was recently installed for exploring and is pressure-activated. He says whatever's back there protects the treasure. The platform returns and Starlow tells the bros to go after them.
Over the track are coins for Mario and Luigi to collect. Just jump when the coins approach. At the end of the line, the platform immediately stops and throws the bros on the wall. It's a little dark here, so torches are lit. A purple flame in a torch says, "Again they come... Poor fools... Look upon the ghost that haunts this castle... My name, whispered in horror, is Smoldergeist. Long have I wandered these dark passages... And long have I guarded these hidden ways... None may pass through to what lies within... You must suffer the fate of all intruders! Those who trespass meet... THIS!"
A Gromba appears when the torch flame returns to normal. A battle starts and Starlow appears so she can teach the bros about battling as a team. She's not worried about Mario, but has her doubts about Luigi. He can never catch a break. Mario uses the (A) button and Luigi uses (B). There are three Grombas here. Starlow tells the bros how the enemies signal their target. She also mentions using items in battle and fleeing. After the battle, the strange flame appears, saying this is not over and their doom awaits deeper within. It also says none may approach the revered one. The gate drops, revealing another passage. Despite saying the place is sketchy and she doesn't like it, Starlow says they should go deeper into the castle.
Up ahead, the purple flame appears, saying it would not let the bros pass so easily. The bros must suffer its ruthless challenge, the Test of Jumping. The first part is to jump up some stairs. Go up the stairs to reach the next torch, where small praise is due. Next, they have to jump across gaps. Have both bros jump at the same time. On the other side, the flame says to not expect things to get easier. The true test begins. There is a long item block ahead. Hit it and memorize the order of the blocks that appear above it. The flame says this will be their doom. Hit the blocks with the correct bro in the order of bottom to top. Just hit the lowest block with the correct bro each time. The blocks will not disappear until the challenge is complete. The flame says it failed again, after losing to someone in pink. He thinks the test stinks.
Keep going on to the next challenge. There are Grombas on the floor. Battle them for the experience, if you like. This challenge requires you to reach the gate at the end, then hit the orange ! Block. Six purple blocks will appear and the flame wants the bros to find the odd one out. The picture on the correct block will spin in the opposite direction of the others. Hit the correct one to lower the gate. The challenge is not yet over. Ahead are severeal Grombas that form a rotating X. The exit is in the lower left corner. You can either jump over the line, or battle them. Defeating an enemy in one of the lines will make that line disappear. Once all the lines are gone, a Gromba will drop in and follow the bros. Once you go to the lower left corner, there's another ! Block. Three blocks will appear and one will flash. It will stop flashing and the blocks will shuffle. Hit the correct one. The flame says the next room will bring true fear. Before the bros can leave, they hear Peach scream and call for help. Heal and save.
In the next room, Peach and Toadsworth are circled by four purple flames. The bros approach and the flames disappear. Peach and Toadsworth are thankful for the rescue. Starlow mentions the place looks mysterious. Ahead is an alter with something sparkling on it. Mario picks up the rectangular rock-looking thing. From it comes two round button-looking things. Starlow says those are badges. These badges will restore 30% of the bros' HP. She'll teach the bros about badges in their next battle, but doesn't know what the rectangular thing is. She thinks it looks a little like a pillow. Peach thinks it might be the treasure. They suggest finding an exit. Once the bros walk down the stairs, the floor shakes. The Zeekeeper statue at the altar starts moving, asking who touched things without his permission. He refers to the pillow-like rock as the revered one and no one may touch it. The purple flames surround the bros and attack.
Starlow appears to teach about the badges. The meter is almost full. The bros must attack successfully to fill the meter. Starlow summons a gust of wind to extinguish the flames so the bros can attack. Attack the Smoldergeist. The meter will fill and a button will appear on the Touch Screen. Each time the meter fills, the effects of the badge will be stored in a button, up to two, to be used at the bros' discretion. The bros can use the badges' effects only when command blocks are available. To change badges in battle, touch the button in the lower left corner, then use [R] and [L] to change the badges. The button with the ribbon is to tell the bros their progress on Expert Challenges. These challenges will give the bros rare gear once enough are completed. After a while, the Smoldergeist will reignite and attack. Some will send a ring of flames out above or at the bros. Some will throw fireballs at the bros. Either stomp them (and take damage) or dodge all their attacks to extinguish the flames. Once extinguished, they'll rock back and forth into the bros until the bros counterattack.
Once Smoldergeist is defeated, the Zeekeeper statue says it failed. A bridge will form to the south. Peach and Toadsworth as the bros to scout ahead. There's a Brock in the next room saying that the path ahead is impassible and wonder how the bros got through. Mario shows him the special rock and he thinks it might be the treasure. He says to go to the southeast to the collection room, where it can be displayed. Ahead is a Save Block. To the east is the collection room, filled with many artifacts. Broque Monsieur is there, congratulating the bros on retrieving the treasure. Everything the room dates back to the period of the Pi'illo Kingdom. Only VIPs are allowed in this room. In the center of the room is a large bed. Luigi puts the rock on the bed as a pillow and lies down. Broque Monsieur thinks the rock may be the pillow the prince was using. Luigi falls asleep instantly. Broque Monsieur lets Mario check out the collection room. The bed Luigi's napping on belonged to the prince. When you're done checking things out, try to go south. A couple of Toads appear, then Peach and Toadsworth enter the room. Peach thinks something's wrong with Luigi. Suddenly, a portal appears above Luigi's head. Toadsworth thinks it may be a vision of Luigi's dreams. Broque Monsieur says that people could enter others' dreams during the era of the Pi'illo Kingdom. Peach thinks the rock is responsible. Broque Monsieur thinks it might reflect the dream world. Starlow asks about Dr. Snoozemore and Broque Monsieur says they don't know when he will return. He says the promotional trips he takes usually last a few days. Peach gets closer to the portal, saying she feels like someone is calling her. Starlow says to stay back but Peach says her body won't move. Peach is lifted off the ground and drawn into the portal. Toadsworth gets close to the portal in a panic, but some Toads hold him back. Mario hops into the portal after her. Starlow says Mario will rescue the princess and wonders how Luigi can sleep through all of this.
An exciting start to the fourth entry in the Mario and Luigi series. This is shaping up to be quite the adventure. What will the bros find in Luigi's dreams? Who kidnapped Peach? Will Fawful make an appearance? All this and more in Mario and Luigi: Dream Team!
While traveling, Toadsworth mentions he's never heard of Pi'illo Island and feels uneasy about the trip. Broggy gets upset at the idea that they might just return home. On his back, a screen appears.
