After the Final Battle

N64
We get the large Power Star. It becomes a Wing Cap and Mario circles the arena, until he falls from the sky, lands in front of the castle bridge, and the Wing Cap fades. The large Power Star flies up to the stain glass window of Peach and she appears, in her original pink dress, hands over her heart, eyes closed, and hair down. (If we look closely, we can see Yoshi on the roof.) She lands on the bridge, between two Toads. Mario runs up to her and takes off his hat. She wakes up and says "Mario! The Power of the Stars is restored to the castle... and it's all thanks to you! Thank you, Mario! We have to do something special for you." She kisses him on the nose and he nods, putting his cap back on, with a "Here we go!" Peach says, "Listen, everybody! Let's bake a delicious cake... for Mario." Peach and the Toads walk to the castle, while Mario lingers, looking at the sky. Peach calls "Mario!" and he goes inside. The credits roll, showing places we've been and friends and enemies we've met. At the end, we see a cake with Mario and Peach figurines surrounded by a tea setting. A bar of chocolate on the cake says "THANK YOU"
THE END

The cannon outside the castle is now open. We launch to the roof, where we find three 1-ups and Yoshi, who says "Mario!!! It that really you??? It has been so long since our last adventure! They told me that I might see you if I waited here, but I'd just about given up hope! It is true? have you really beaten Bowser? And restored the Stars to the castle? And saved the Princess? I knew you could do it! Nwo I have a very special message for you. "Thanks for playing Super Mario 64! This is the end of the game, but not the end of the fun. We want you to keep playing, so we ahve a little something for you. We hope that you like it! Enjoy!!!" The Super Mario 64 Team"
We get 99 Lives. Yoshi jumps off the roof with a sparkly Triple Jump. We get a new Triple Jump as well.

If we go back into Cool, Cool, Mountain's Big Penguin Race, we find the penguin much larger than we last saw him. He says, "What's up, pal? I haven't been on the slide lately, so I'm out of shape. Still, I'm always up for a good race... Especially against an old sleddin' buddy! Whaddya say? Ready...set... Go!/ No thanks" He is faster and obscures the track. He says the same thing when you win as earlier.

Nintendo DS
We get the large Power Star. It becomes a Wing Cap and Mario flies around the arena. He falls from the sky, and lands in front of the castle bridge, next to Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario. The Wing Cap's power fades. The large Power Star appears (as well as some twinkling on the Touch Screen). The camera focuses on the stain-glass window of Peach. She appears from the window, hair in a ponytail. Stars appear on the Touch Screen. She floats gently down to the bridge, eyes closed, hands clasped. She is wearing her updated dress. Yoshi runs up to her and stands beside her. Mario walks up to her and takes off his hat. Luigi and Wario walk up. The Stars on the Touch Screen move in a circle. Peach wakes up and says "Oh! Yoshi! The Power of the Stars is restored to the castle... and it's all thanks to you! Thank you all! We have to do something special for you!" She kisses Mario on the nose, he nods, and puts his cap back on, saying "Here we go!" Peach says, "Listen... Let's bake a delicious cake... ...for my heroes!" All of them walk into the castle, except Yoshi, who lingers to look at the sky. Peach calls to him "Yoshi!" and he goes inside the castle.

The credits roll, showing us where we've been. All of the courses and some of the enemies and friends we've met. On the Touch Screen, we see a cake, which is slowly decorated through the credits. All of the characters you've unlocked will appear as figurines on the cake. Yoshi, Mario, Wario, Luigi, and Peach stand on the cake. All the characters wave goodbye from the bridge and Lakitu flies off. We then see the cake with some tea settings. The cake has a bar of chocolate that says "THANK YOU".
THE END

The cannon outside the castle will now be open. If we go on the roof, we'll find three 1-ups and a Power Flower or Wing Cap.

Bowser in the Sky

Now that we've gotten almost all of the Stars, it's now time for the final battle!
N64
The Star Door at the top of the double stairs on the third floor leads to the final battle. If we don't have enough Stars when we go through the door, the top of the stairs will be dark and the stairs will infinitely cycle so you don't get beyond the middle stairs. If we do, we can reach the top without difficulty. There are paintings of Bowser and Peach on the sides of the stairs, and a Bowser painting at the top, in front of a hole. We drop through the hole to enter the area.

We land on a rock shaped like an arrow, pointing us in the direction we should go. On the next platform is a Red Coin. We need to push a nearby block to reach it easily with a double jump. Next is a tilting squiggly platform followed by an arrow ramp. It turns, and we see an Amp circling a circular platform. Then, there is a Red Coin in the corner near the small Piranha Plant. Past it is a tilting platform leading to a ferris wheel. Drop down here for the often missed third Red Coin to the right on a small ledge just off the edge. I had to return to get it after I missed it. We backflip up to the next area from the ferris wheel, step on the switch to create yellow and green stairs, and go up the ramp. The fourth Red Coin is at the top. Be sure to dodge the three sets of flames on the ramp. We board an arrow platform past the Piranha Plant that takes us to through an area with rectangular blocks. The fifth Red Coin is on top of one of the high blocks. Time your jump so you don't slide off, but the area below will catch you. Once you get off, you see two spinning discs. The first one has a Red Coin behind the point in the center.

The second one has a pole. We climb it and find some moving magenta platforms, with a pole in the middle with a Red Coin. Past it are some Bob-ombs and two ferris wheels. They take you to the top of the level, which looks like an altar. There are Goombas up there, as well as a strong wind. Behind the back left pillar is a 1-up. At the top of the stairs is a pipe to the battle arena. The last Red Coin is under the stairs. Just go up the stairs, go to one side near the stairs, and jump down towards the wall, not going over it. There is a ledge to catch you. Then walk under the stairs for the last Red Coin. The Star appears behind the pipe.
Star Get #120, 38 Coins, 5 Lives

It took me six tries to reach Bowser and thirteen to beat him. When we land in the arena, we hear organ music and see Bowser, who is more colorful than in previous battles, giving him the nickname "Rainbow Bowser". He says "Mario! You again! Well, that's just fine -- I've been looking for something to fry with my fire breath! Your Star Power is useless against me! Your friends are all trapped within the walls... And you'll never see the Princess again! Bwa ha ha ha!"

The battle strategy is the same as the others: throw Bowser into the bombs. This time, we have to throw him into bombs three times and there are five bombs. This is not an easy battle. Bowser may jump, creating two sets of shockwaves, breathe fire, which may turn into coins, and charging you, doing two bars of damage and potentially pushing you off the arena. We inch him to the bombs so we don't miss. If we do miss and throw him off the arena, he'll knock off a chunk of the arena. After we get in two hits, he waves his arms around, which knocks off any remaining chunks to make the arena star-shaped. This is a great opportunity to grab his tail. On my final take, I closed my eyes, rotated the joystick, and let go of Bowser randomly. He went a little wide of the bomb, so I kept saying "No! No! No!" until he came close to the bomb and set it off. "Yeah!" He flies back to the center of the arena and says, "Noooo! You've really beaten me this time, Mario! I can't stand losing to you! My troops... worthless! They've turned over all the Power Stars! What?! There are 120 in all??? Amazing! There were some in the castle that I missed??!! Now I see peace returning to the world.... Oooo! I really hate that! I can't watch -- I'm outta here! Just you wait until next time. Until then, keep that Control Stick smokin' Buwaa ha ha!"

He fades into a large Star and the music stops. I had three bars of health left. Phew! Finally done!

Nintendo DS
The entrance to the final battle is in the same place. If we do not have enough Stars, we will get the endless stairs beyond the Star Door. If we go in as anyone other than Mario, we get a message from Bowser: "Grr. Even though I've lost this many Power Stars, Mario is the only one I can call my rival. No one else matters. Now scram! Gwa ha ha!!" However, this does not stop the door from opening, but we get the endless stairs. As Mario, we do not encounter any problems. At the top of the stairs are a painting of Bowser and the hole that is the entrance to the final battle.

The area is set up the same way as in the N64 version. We push the block on one of the platforms to get the first Red Coin. We go up a ramp with arrows. Past the Amp and the circling platform with a Star Sphere, indicating that there's a Star Switch around here, we find a Red Coin in a corner near a Piranha Plant. The third Red Coin is in the same place, below the tilting platform to the right off the ledge. Also on the ledge is the Star Switch. We long jump to the other side of the ledge, climb up to where the Piranha Plant is, and jump to the Star Sphere for the Star.
Star Get #149, 36 Coins, 5 Lives
That's the last Star!

We backflip up from the ferris wheel to a switch that creates green and yellow stairs to a yellow ramp with the fourth Red Coin. There are three sets of flames on the ramp. We pass another Piranha Plant and get on an arrow platform that will take us through an obstacle course of rectangular blocks. I got the fifth Red Coin on a high block, but slid off and landed on before the green and yellow stairs. Once you get off the platform, we find the sixth Red Coin just behind the point in the center of the first spinning disc. The second one has a pole.

At the top of the pole, we find two magenta moving platforms with a pole in the middle. At the top of the pole is a Red Coin. We pass some Bob-ombs and reach two ferris wheels. This takes us to the top of the level. The 1-up and last Red Coin are in the same places as in the N64 version. The Star appears behind the pipe.
Star Get #150, 48 Coins, 5 Lives
That's the last Star!

We jump into the pipe. We land on a green octangonal platform and some organ music plays. Bowser appears, with a regular sprite. (No rainbow Bowser in this version.) He says "That's just fine -- I've been looking for someone to fry with my fire breath! Your Star Power is useless against me! Your friends are all trapped in the walls... And you'll never see the princess again! Gwa ha ha ha!"

I tried to inch him closer to a bomb, but I dove off the arena.
Take 2- He breathes red and green flames, which may turn into coins when they disappear. We inched him to a bomb and got in one hit. You do not want to miss and throw him off the arena because he will knock a triangular chunk out of the arena. This change is not reflected in the Touch Screen Map. After running into him twice, we inch him towards another bomb and get in the second hit. I used two adjacent bombs. Immediately move towards the center, as Bowser will make any remaining chunks fall away so that the arena is star-shaped (the map won't change, but you can always see a star outlined on the map). This is a great opportunity to grab his tail, but it won't stop the pieces from falling away. The bombs are now between the star's points, so inching him closer won't do you as much good. You have to aim now. We now have three bombs in a row, in case our throw is off when aiming for one bomb in particular. We may throw him into another. You need a full-powered throw for this part. When he lands, he sends out two sets of shock waves. Jump to dodge them. He will also charge us. He ran into me twice, and I ran out of health.
Take 3- I got in one hit and fell off.
Take 4- I got in the first two hits, then decided to swing wildly and let go randomly. I kept missing and ran out of health.
Take 5- I was knocked off by a Goomba, making me start the level over. I fell off once more
Take 7- I got in two hits. I ran into him too many times.
Take 8- I got in two hits. It took several throws, but I finally got in the third hit. Bowser flies back into the center of the arena and says "Noooo! You've really beaten me this time, Mario! I can't stand always losing to you! My troops...worthless! They've turned over all the Power Stars! Wait, say that again. There are 150 Stars in all??? What?! There were some in the castle that I missed??!! Now I see peace returning to the world... I really hate that! It's so horrible I can't watch. I'm outta here! Just you wait until next time. Until then, keep that Touch Screen smokin'! Gwa ha haaaaaaa!" He dissolves into smoke and a large Power Star. It's over! It's finally over!

Rainbow Ride - Somewhere Over the Rainbow

N64
Yes, the title was probably taken from a song in the "Wizard of Oz", but where is this rainbow we have to go over? It's high in the sky, cleverly hidden without a map. Hopefully you talked to the Bob-omb Buddy in the maze, because we need the cannon for this mission. But where is the cannon? It's conveniently located at the stern of the Cruiser. Take a right at the hub and a left where the carpet's path forks. Board the Cruiser as you did in Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow and head to the back of the ship (or let the wind push you). Make sure when you reach the bow that you end up in the cannon. When the cannon sets itself up, you'll see a circular rainbow. Aim at the center of the circle. If executed correctly, you'll fly to a floating island with a Chuckya. The block has a Star. (The Chuckya threw me into it.)
Star Get #118, 13 Coins, 3 Lives
That's it! We're done with the last course! Now all we have left is to battle Bowser! (We got 100 Coins later in the Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow mission.)

Nintendo DS
Now with the Touch Screen Map, we can see where the island with the Star is. It's between the first carpet's path and the pyramids from Tricky Triangles. We go to the right from the hub and left where the carpet's path forks. Then board the Cruiser once more. I got a 1-up in the middle of the spinning top-like platform that tries to knock you off the carpet. I found out that the cannon was not open for some reason, so I opened it again, having to drop down and go back into the maze. A Bob-omb knocked me off.
Take 2- This time, the cannon was open, so we hopped in. We see the rainbow ring and aim for the center, in line with the pole, which we can see in this version. We fire the cannon and cling to the pole. We break the item block for the Star and the Chuckya throws us off the island, into the void. Not fair! He almost swung us into the Star, but it didn't count!
Take 3- We fired the cannon, taking out Lakitu in the process. We broke the item block and quickly got the Star, so the Chuckya didn't have another chance to repeat Take 2.
Star Get #144, 6 Coins, 3 Lives
But we're not done yet! There's one more mission in this course.

Rainbow Ride - Tricky Triangles!

N64
This Star is also accessible to the left of the hub. We take the same path as in Swingin' in the Breeze up until the path forks and we can go to thge left to the steps or straight ahead. This time we go straight ahead. There is a triangular platform between two sets of dropaway platforms. After you climb one side, you may slide down the other. Slow down to avoid falling off, which is really easy to do here. You don't have much room to stop. There is another flame spewing rock to pass and we end up on a large platform with several pyramids and a switch. Stepping on the switch will cause the pyramids to invert, revealing a flat surface to walk on. There is a time limit, so move quickly. The path towards the hub is the path you want to take for the Star. The other path leads to a 1-up. Quickly backflip from the fourth pyramid and you'll find the Star on a stone at the end of the path.
Star Get #117, 10 Coins, 4 Lives

Nintendo DS
The pyramids are in the same location as in the N64 version, so go left from the hub. Go straight when the path forks near the steps. We survived the triangular platform and jumped over the flames spewing from the rock. We land on an area with a switch and pyramids. As in the N64 version, it's fastest to backflip from the fourth pyramid to the path to the Star. There still is a time limit, so move quickly. The Star is on a keyhole-shaped rock.
Star Get #143, 13 Coins, 4 Lives

Star Get

Rainbow Ride - Swingin' in the Breeze

N64
We're down to the last four Stars! This Star is a little difficult. It took me six tries to get it. There are several places where you can fall off. If we go to the left of the hub, we'll find a pole that will take us to a stone platform, where a Fly Guy will be. Past it is a tilting platform that leads to another platform, where the first swing is. It's okay to fall off this one, as there is a large stone slab to catch you. Beyond the swing are dropaway platforms and another tilting platform. We climb the dropaway platforms, which go over the platforms we were just on. We wait until the spewing flames subside to jump across to the next platform. Just past it are more dropaway platforms and a platform moving between them and the next area. We can either go to the left or straight ahead. We go to the left and carefully climb up the steps. It is very easy to slide off here, so take it slow and be sure to use each step. The second and last swing is next. There is nothing to catch you if you fall off here, so be careful. We took the swing to another platform where we dodged flames and found the Star.
Star Get #116, 13 Coins, 1 Life

Nintendo DS
We go to the left from the hub. The area is set up the same way, so we do the same thing to reach the steps. I made it carefully up the steps to the next swing. We got on the swing and avoided the flames on the other side to reach a keyhole-shaped platform with the Star.
Star Get #142, 17 Coins, 4 Lives

Rainbow Ride - Coins Amassed in a Maze

N64
The coins referred to in the title are Red Coins. If we go straight ahead from the hub, we will see the maze made of rock. Before we get the Red Coins, we go to the far edge of the maze (near the Blue Coin Switch) and wall jump up the side of the maze. (Blue Coins will appear here). There is a Bob-omb Buddy there who'll open the cannon, which we'll need in a later mission. The Red Coins are found in a maze that looks like it could be 2D, but isn't. Closer to the hub, there is a moving yellow platform that will help us get into the maze. Just outside the maze is a Red Coin. We backflip onto the yellow platform and long-jump to a Red Coin near where the Star will appear. There is another one between the stairs, three above them, and one below them near a flame orb. At the top, we long-jumped across a gap and jumped near a flame orb (towards the hub) for the last Red Coin. The Star appears on the ground, closer to the far edge of the maze.
Star Get #115, 26 Coins, 5 Lives

Nintendo DS
You'll want to do this mission as Mario. I decided to get 100 Coins in this mission. There are lots of coins lying around, plus several from attacking Lakitu. I misjudged a jump and fell off left of the hub. I talked to the Bob-omb Buddy after wall-jumping up the side of the maze away from the hub. The Blue Coins bring my total to 70. The Red Coins are in the same locations as in the N64 version. The Star
Take 2- I got some coins from the area immediately left of the hub. The Star appears closer to the far edge, on the ground. Before we get it, we still need a few more coins. I then fell off again in the area to the left of the hub.
Take 3- I jumped off.
Take 4- I fell off killing Lakitu.
Take 5- I slid off.
Take 6- Fall damage.
Take 7- I fell off.
Take 8- I slid off.
Take 9 - I fell off.
Take 10 - I fell off.
Take 11- I got 56 Coins before going to the maze. The Blue Coins and Red Coins brought my total to 100 Coins.
Star Get #140, 100 Coins, 3 Lives
I then got the Red Coin Star.
Star Get #141, 100 Coins, 5 Lives

Rainbow Ride - The Big House in the Sky

N64
Wondering where the other carpet goes from the fork in the path? If you got to the right at the hub, where the path forks, the carpet on the right will take you in to the other side of the course. We go over glass boxes that the carpet can go through. Soon, we approach a large house and go in the side window. We briefly get off the carpet to dodge the flames periodically spewing from the fireplace. There is a table in the house, but not much else. We leave the house through another window and go over more glass boxes. The carpet takes us back into the house and heads for the roof, forcing us to dodge the flames again. Be sure to stay on the carpet until the carpet reaches the roof; there's no easy way to get back on and the carpet will drop at the end of its path. The Star is on the roof, as well as an item block with a 1-up.
Star Get #114, 15 Coins, 5 Lives

Nintendo DS
You'll want to do this mission as Mario. The big house is in the same location. Take a right at the hub and the carpet on the right where the path forks. After we climb over some glass boxes, we go in a window of the big house. We dodge the fireplace flames and go out another window, go over more glass boxes, and return into the house through a third window. The flames made us fall off the carpet, but there's a Power Flower in the house, so Mario can float to the roof. We got the 1-up in the item block and got the Star on the roof.
Star Get #139, 19 Coins, 5 Lives

Rainbow Ride - Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow

Rainbow Ride is the 15th and final course in the game. It is very spread out and floats over the void. It is accessed via the hole in the window to the left of Tick Tock Clock.

N64
Rainbow Ride is a difficult course due to the number of ways you can fall off platforms. It's also not obvious where everything is and where you need to go. The slide music plays. We land on a yellow platform and walk to the carpet ahead. It is a flying carpet that will follow the rainbow path in front of it. When the rainbow ends, the carpet falls into the void, so get off of it before then. This carpet circles around a large spinning circular rock with an Amp. There is also a fire-spewing rock that may force you to jump off the carpet to the rock, unless you time it well. But get back on the carpet immediately: if you're not on it for a while, it will flicker, then disappear and you may be stuck where you are. It will regenerate where you first found it. You can jump on it while it is flickering to make it solid again. The first carpet will take you to fours more circular spinning rocks. Jump off the carpet, as there is a gap between where the carpet stops and the next platform begins. Here you'll find Lakitu throwing Spinies your way. You can try to take him out (for 10 coins), but you won't be hanging around here for very long. These four spinning stones can be thought of as the hub of Rainbow Ride. There are Stars to get to the left, to the right, and straight ahead from here. For this Star, we need to go right. This will take you to another carpet, which will have you climbing on rectangular prism platforms to avoid being knocked off (but you don't have to take action for all of them). The path for the carpet will curve, so it may be good to adjust the camera. Up next is a platform with a brick block. You have a limited amount of time, so either go around (or over) it or break it. The carpet will come to the end of the path, where you'll find two more carpets, which will go in opposite directions. We need the carpet on the left. Around this point, you'll hear a sound that is the oars of the Cruiser rowing. Take a quick look at it; you'll soon have more obstacles to dodge. The path will begin to spiral around a stone that resembles a top. Blue fire will come out of its base, which usually isn't a problem. As the carpet climbs, you'll see the platform has two arms that will try to knock you off when you get high enough. The carpet ride ends at some dropaway platforms. Quickly backflip up to the next level, where you'll find a plank to the Cruiser, a large ship with rowing feather oars. On the ship, a strong wind is blowing to the stern. At the bow is the Star. Walk against the wind to get it. (Or have a Bob-omb push you partway).
Star Get #113, 9 Coins, 12 Lives

Nintendo DS
Not much has changed from the N64 version for this mission, except for some updated sprites. We take the first flying carpet to the hub, dodging fire. We go to the right and take another carpet, this time with more platforms to catch us. The path forks ahead and we take the carpet to the left. The platform that looks like a top no longer spews fire, but will still try to knock you off the carpet. The sound of the Cruiser's oars rowing is much clearer. As the carpet spirals, you get a great view of the course. I fell off the dropaway platform.
Take 2- I made it past the dropaway platforms and boarded the Cruiser using the plank. The gusts are too strong here for us to reach the Star at the bow. Conveniently, there is a Wario Cap and a Power Flower aboard. At the top of the mast, above the crow's nest, we can get a 1-up. We use the Metal Cap to get a 1-up at the bow, as well as the Star.
Star Get #138, 15 Coins, 8 Lives'

I later returned to get 100 Coins. There are several Blue Coins from the Blue Coin Switch in the maze with Red Coins. I got the Red Coins and coins from the swings and triangles. I got the last coins on the carpet rides to the big house.
Star Get #119, 102 Coins, 4 Lives

Tick Tock Clock - Time Jumps on Moving Bars

N64
We need time in for this mission, which makes it difficult. We go past the spinning triangles to the right, go up the two flipping blocks, and over the cage where the Star is. The entrance to the cage is next to three pop-out walls that try to push you away. We have to climb them to get into the cage. It's a little tricky because they're moving, but possible.
Star Get #110, 4 Coins, 6 Lives

Nintendo DS
You'll want to enter the course as Wario with time stopped. The cage is in the same area, but the entrance is blocked by a black brick block. We go right at the top of the pole and backflip to the path from the yellow rectangles. At the top of the flipping blocks is a grate that forms the cage that holds the Star. I ground-pounded the black bricj block to open the entrance, walked in, and got the Star.
Star Get #133, 9 Coins, 4 Lives

Tick Tock Clock - Stomp on the Thwomp

N64
This mission gave me a lot of difficulty. I died 19 times, which is why I got the Red Coins first. We have to climb up to the top of the clock tower while in the course, which is treacherous with the time in, and we need the parts moving. Instead of going to the pendulums, go the other way to climb higher. There are rotating triangles and a high ledge you must double jump to reach. After that are 4 pieces of the wall that try to push you off and conveyor belts. Past that are flipping triangles that operate much like the flipping blocks earlier in the level. There are flipping rectangles and when you reach the top, another clock hand will come around. It will take you to a conveyor belt leading away from the Thwomp. We backflipped onto the Thwomp, which took us to the Star.
Star Get #109, 12 Coins, 5 Lives

Nintendo DS
This Star is also at the top of the course. We climbed up the pole past the cage and went to the right. There are two yellow rectangular platforms that will lift you up to the path. Following the path will lead you to two flipping blocks and a grate. We backflipped up to the path, passing Wario's Cap. There are a couple of conveyor belts, and some flipping rectangles farther up the path. There are two more flipping blocks acting as stairs until reach the part where you'll find the clock hand. Take the clock hand around until you see a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt leads to the Thwomp. Backflip onto the Thwomp and it will lift you to where the Star is.
Star Get #132, 14 Coins, 4 Lives

Tick Tock Clock - Stop Time for Red Coins

N64
I skipped the Thwomp mission to get an easier mission. As the title suggests, stopping time is a good idea. Doing this with the parts moving would be frustrating. The Red Coins are located behind where you started, past the Bob-ombs. They are above some rectangular platforms that would be flipping if time was in. I found it was best that I backflipped at an angle to get to the next level and the Red Coin. The platforms are on an angle due to the corner where they're located, so we have to backflip on an angle. The Star appears on the grate below. There is a heart in case you fall a lot.
Star Get #108, 16 Coins, 1 Life

Nintendo DS
We stopped time for this mission. The Red Coins are behind where we started, but there are no Bob-ombs. There is also a heart in case you fall. The Star is on the grate, to the left of the platform.
Star Get #131, 26 Coina, 4 Lives

Tick Tock Clock - Get a Hand

N64
We need the parts to be moving, so we go in when the hand was on 3. There is no way to make this work without the parts moving. We go past the blocks forming stairs and wait on the grate. It may not be there at first, but a clock hand will come sweeping through on the grate. It's not moving that fast, so we can easily get on the hand. It slowly rotates around the clock to an alcove on the other side of the clock. It's a good idea to stay near the hand's arrow to avoid an Amp. The Star is in the alcove.
Star Get #107, 3 Coins, 4 Lives

Nintendo DS
We need the parts to be moving because we need the hand to be moving. We go past the blocks forming stairs to reach the grate where the clock hand will be. We step on the hand and wait for it to reach the alcove. I stood on the arrow, but was shocked by the Amp. I reached the alcove and got the Star.

Tick Tock Clock - The Pit and the Pendulums

This mission is unque to the N64.
It took me four tries before I found that stopping time worked best. We must go past the cage with the Roll into the Cage Star. I backflipped so I could reach the pole. I passed a flipping enemy and jumped to a triangle, then to the area with a Blue Coin Switch. Next, we walked across zig-zagging platforms to the Star. We have to pass two pendulums, which are not a problem when time is stopped.

Tick Tock Clock - Roll into the Cage

This is the 14th course.
This mission is unique to the N64.
We're on the second to last course! Now that we're finished with the second floor, we unlock the Star Door at the top of the stairs to reach the third floor. Ahead, we see a clock embedded in a tree, windows on both sides of the walls, and two sets of stairs leading to a Star Door behind us. To the right of the clock tree is Toad. He says, "There's something strange about that clock. As you jump inside, watch the position of the big hand. Oh, look what I found! here, Mario, catch!" This is the last of the Stars that Toad's been holding for us.
Star Get #104, 0 Coins, 11 Lives
We must enter the course through the clock. If the big hand is on 12, the clock parts will be stopped. When it's on 3, the hands will move, on 6, the parts will not move in sync, and on 9, they will move faster. There are also the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9, so you can tell your relative location.

The slide music plays. We need the parts to move for this mission. Most of the moving parts are designed to flip or move you into the void, which is at the center of the clock. The course is shaped like a tube, so one false step will send you plummeting. Try to steer towards the walls so you'll land on something instead of fall into the void.

We jump past a pendulum to the grate serving as a ramp, leading to a conveyor belt. That leads to a block that will periodically rotate. These blocks will dip before flipping. Jump before they flip to stay on. In front of it is a pendulum blocking our way to the wall. Time your jump to make it to the other side. This leads to three of the blocks acting as stairs. After that is a piece of the wall that will push you to the center, possibly into the void. This leads to a grate platform, where you may see a clock hand moving in a circle. There is a conveyor belt leading to spinning circular platforms. After that is a conveyor belt into a cage with the Star.
Star Get #105, 3 Coins, 8 Lives

After a while, I got 100 Coins in this mission. It took me several tries because I had to have the parts moving to get to the top. Lots of item blocks contain coins, and there is a Blue Coin Switch. In the end, someone had to help me get the coins. Thanks to Brandon for helping me with this Star!

Tiny-Huge Island - Make Wiggler Squirm

N64
It's time to take on Wiggler! As you may recall, at the top of the cave is a hole. To reach Wiggler, we need to make that hole. How do we do that? All we have to do is go into the small painting. While the island is tiny, we go up to the peak and ground-pound the tiny pool of water. Anywhere will do, but the hole will appear directly in the center, a chime will sound, and the water will drain. We then used the warp pipe and returned to the peak to find the hole large enough to go through. We see Wiggler who says, "Waaaa! You've flooded my house! Wh-Why?? Look at this mess! What am I going to do now? The ceiling's ruined, the floor is soaked... what to do, what to do? Huff....huff... it makes me so... MAD!!! Everything's been going wrong ever since I got this Star... It's so shiny, but it makes me feel... strange..." He's got a Star, which we need. He's also complaining about the floor getting wet, when it's mostly made out of grate, so the water would drain through.

The battle music starts. He's not a super easy boss. All we have to do is jump on him three times. He also deals quite a bit of damage if he hits you, but there are coins around to recover health. This took me three tries. After the first hit, he says, "I can't take this anymore! First you get me all wet, then you stomp on me! Now I'm really, really, REALLY mad! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!" This time, he moves faster. After the second hit, he says, "Hey! Knock it off! That's the second time you've nailed me. Now you're asking for it, linguine breath!" He moves faster and turns red. When we finally get in the third hit, he says, "Owwch! Uncle! Uncle! Okay, I give. Take this Star! Whew! I feel better now. I don't really need it anymore, anyway -- I can see the stars through my ceiling at night. They make me feel... ...peaceful. Please, come back and visit anytime."

He shrinks and the Star appears. Wiggler then falls through the grate. The Star is on the center of the grate, on a grassy patch. If we visit Wiggler, we'll have to battle him again.
Star Get #103, 24 Coins, 11 Lives

Nintendo DS
We enter the small painting and go to the peak to ground pound the pool. The chime sounds and the water drains. We used the warp pipe and we go through the newly-formed hole at the peak. Wiggler gives the same speech and the battle starts. He says the same thing after the first and second hits, and turns red after the second. After the third hit, he gives the same speech, shrinks, and falls through the grate. The Star appears in the center of the grate over a grassy patch.
Star Get #126, 23 Coins, 4 Lives

Tiny-Huge Island - Wiggler's Red Coins

N64
The Red Coins are hidden in the cave accessble via a narrow bridge. You can either enter the small painting, use the warp pipe, and slide down to the grassy area where the bridge is, or enter the large painting and use the cannon to grab a tree near the bridge. Inside are several rocks projecting from the void. The Red Coins are on top of some of them. The Hazy Maze Cave music plays. You may notice a strange sound in the cave. Looking up to the ceiling reveals a small hole (which you haven't opened yet) and a large Wiggler wandering around on top of a grate. You can't reach him from here, so ignore him for the time being and focus on the Red Coins. You start off on a narrow ledge, which widens near the first Red Coin. You'll need to engage in some rock-hopping, as the next five Red Coins are on adjacent platforms, some on lower platforms than the one you're standing on, so look around. The seventh is on the platform with the Blue Coin Switch. The last one is on top of one of the two taller rock pillar. We must wall-jump to reach it. The Star appears at the base of the two pillars. This took me 6 tries.
Star Get #102, 36 Coins, 10 Lives

Nintendo DS
I decided to enter the big painting. I slid off.
Take 2- I amde it into the cave. There are fewer platforms in this version, making things a little simpler and more linear. To make things a little easier, I used the Power Flower on the rock with the Blue Coin Switch to float to the last Red Coin on the tall pillar. I got a 1-up on the way. The Star appears in between the pillars.

Tiny-Huge Island - Five Itty Bitty Secrets

N64
As the title suggests, the island must be small. We must be large relative to the island. The five secrets are hidden in the "holes" on the island. You can get them in any order. The secrets are hidden in the doorway-like hole where you started, the hole where the metal balls come from, the top of the mountain (ground-pound it), the hole to the cannon, and the hole to the cave. The Star appears on the floating island away from the island. Near the Piranha Plant is a switch that creates a bridge to the floating island.
Star Get #101, 13 Coins, 6 Lives

Tiny-Huge Island - Rematch with Koopa the Quick

N64
Koopa the Quick is back! It took me a couple of tries to reach him. I used the big painting and went around the island, but using the smaller painting is faster and easier. We have to be small to see Koopa the Quick. He's past the metal balls, across from the bridge into the cave. Before talking to him, take out the Goombas so they don't get in your way. Koopa the Quick says "Long time, no see! Wow, have you gotten fast! Have you been training on the sly or is it the power of the Stars? I've been feeling down about losing the last race. This is my home course -- how about a rematch? The goal is in Windswept Valley. Ready? Go/ Don't Go"
We start the rematch. I ran as fast as I could, but ultimately lost. Koopa the Quick says "I win! You lose! Ha ha ah! That's what you get for messin' with Koopa the Quick. Better luck next time!"
All we need to do is use the warp pipe so he'll reappear where we first found him. We start the rematch and long-jump to victory, running on the bridge. Koopa the Quick says "No way! you beat me...again!! And I just spent my entire savings on these new Koopa Mach 1 Sprint shoes! Here, I guess I have to hand over this Star to the winner of the race. Congrats, Mario!" I won with a time of 0'24"9. The Star appears near Koopa the Quick.
Star Get #100, 14 Coins, 5 Lives

Nintendo DS
We entered the smaller painting to reach Koopa the Quick more quickly. He's in the same location as in the N64 version. We used the warp pipe to make the island big. We need to be Mario for the rematch. He gives the same speech. We race and I lost because some long-jumps became ground-pounds, slowing me down. He says the same thing. I used the pipe so he would reappear. This time I won with a time of 0'24"27. His speech is the same, except he bought Supa Koopa Sprint sneakers. The Star appears near the flagpole.
Star Get #123, 15 Coins, 4 Lives

Tiny-Huge Island - The Tip Top of the Huge Island

N64
The title gives us a clue: we need the island to be huge to get the Star. This mission gave me a lot of trouble due to a pesky long-jump and some gusts. The Goombas here are enormous. Ground-pounding them gives you a Blue Coin. If we go through the doorway-like hole through the wall and end up in the water. Be careful in the water, as there is a large fish that will gobble Mario up whole. To the left is some sand and a Lakitu, straight ahead is a grassy area with a cannon and a Fly Guy. There is a gap between here and the next area, with a platform in between. We must long-jump to the platform, then let the gust carry us to the bridge attached to the island. This is how I died thirteen times. Now is a good time as any to get 100 Coins. There are lots of Goombas to give you Blue Coins, as well as a Koopa that gives a Blue Coin as well. Over the beach is a bridge into the cave. There we found Red Coins, as well as a Blue Coin Switch.
Star Get #98, 101 Coins, 4 Lives
Past the bridge in the gusty area is another warp pipe, and another bridge, where the gusts will try to push you towards the island and off the bridge. At the end of the bridge are more metal balls and a warp pipe. This will bring you near the platform with the Piranhas, which is on the other side of the wall. We must climb up grassy steps to another bridge, which leads to the top of the mountain. Before you reach the peak, there is an item block which contains the Star.
Star Get #99, 16 Coins, 4 Lives

Nintendo DS
I decided to enter the smaller painting to make getting the Star easier. I climbed the tree and jumped over the wall. I used the warp pipe to shrink and climbed up the grassy steps, dodging a purple enemy. I crossed the bridge to the item block at the top of the island. The item block has the Star.
Star Get #121, 8 Coins, 3 Lives
To get 100 Coins, I used the larger painting. I got lots of coins from the Goombas. Lakitu gives out five coins and the Koopa gives out a Blue Coin. I slid off the top of the island with over 60 coins.
Take 2- I got Blue Coins from the Goombas and Koopa, and coins from Lakitu and the Fly Guys. Before I entered the cave, I had 80 coins. I got the Blue Coins from the Blue Coin Switch, as well as 3 Red Coins, so the Star appeared.
Star Get #122, 101 Coins, 5 Lives

Tiny-Huge Island - Pluck the Piranha Flower

Tiny-Huge Island is the 13th course.
In the door with the Star on the second floor is a large room with three identical paintings of different sizes. We can't use the one directly across from the door. To the left is a small painting and to the right is a very large painting. Tiny-Huge Island is a large island that changes its relative size depending on which painting you enter. If you enter the smaller painting, you'll be large compared to the enemies and the island and vice versa. You can change the island's size by entering the green warp pipes on the island. Some missions can only be completed when small and others when large. Others will require you to switch the island's size.
N64
We need to be large at the start of this mission. I died a few times, but the mission is relatively simple. We must be relatively large to climb a nearby platform to our left. We start on a grassy platform with a very small Goomba. The enemies here won't damage you. There are three grassy platforms on your side of the wall, separated by water. The one farther away is where you want to go. Climb up on the platform, dodging the small Piranha Plant's fire. On the platform is a warp pipe. Go in it to change the island's size. When the island is large, there will be five Piranha Plants that appear when approached, towering over you. Two of them are behind the pipe They can be defeated with a punch, but they also breathe fire, which may cause you to run off the platform. You can't get back on the platform from the water, so just exit the level. It's not worth going through the whole island to find another warp pipe. After you defeat them all, the Star appears near the warp pipe. Oddly enough, the large Piranhas give out two coins, while those that are normal sized give out Blue Coins.
Star Get #97, 10 Coins, 22 Lives

Nintendo DS
I swam to the grassy platform with the Piranha Plant, taking a burn in the process. I went through the warp pipe and was burned by the larger Piranha Plants twice, resulting in death.
Take 2- I reached the platform without being burned. I defeated all of the Piranha Plants, after taking a few burns. The Star appeared behind the pipe.
Star Get #120, 15 Coins, 3 Lives
We're 80% done! 30 more Stars to go!
